Hello!

I just registered on the forum. I've been a smoker for 15 years and have been thinking about switching to vaping for quite a while now. Finally decided that I am going to take the plunge. I am going to buy a set-up on Thursday! So far I have decided on the Joye Ego-c Twist 1000mah batteries but I have yet to decide on a tank/clearomizer. Being a smoker, the two most important aspects of vaping for me should be the warmth of the vapor and most important IMO, the way that the unit draws. I am looking for something that is not too airy, if you know what I mean. I have been researching the Kanger Pro-Tank and Vision clearomizer 2.0.

Hopefully someone will chime in and let me know if I'm on the right track.

Oh, BTW, I am a pack a day smoker, regular strength cigs.

Glad to be here!

Cheers!

Thanks Brock! Of the two, which would you think has a tighter draw? I certainly understand that the vaping experience is not going to exactly mimic smoking cigarettes but I would like to get as close as I can when I first start vaping. That said, I am also looking for a good, full flavored tobacco juice. I am currently smoking Pall Mall's in the red box (full strength).

I would probably recommend the Vision for a slightly warmer vape, but unsure of the draw they have, for I have no experience with them. I do own a Protank, and the draw was WAY too airy for me initially (a common complaint), though I have more than adjusted and find it's just right for me now. There are also tweaks you can make with the Protank to tighten the draw, either by purchasing an additional "air-flow controller" attachment, or by pulling a McGuyver and plugging one or two of the air holes on the tank itself.

Good luck regardless of what you choose and happy vaping to you!

Thanks guys. I will look up some vids on the Nova. I like the idea of being able to control the airflow too. If I am not mistaken, The Vision Clearomizers are top coil as well. I am guessing you would still recommend the Nova?

Another question just popped into my head...

Being a pack a day smoker, how large of a tank should I look for if I want to fill it once in the morning and have it last until I get home from a typical work day?

The only tank that I can get through a day is the pro tank. But like others said Vivi nova warmer, pro tank more liquid and a little airier. If you haven't check out the smoke shop in front of Walmart on chili ave. They have everything. I would recommend you do what I did, get both. Get a real vision Vivi nova and the pro tank. I use the pro during the day to get me the max liquid and Vivi nova at night at home. Also this would allow you to have two different flavors if you choose. Good luck.

Welcome to the forums. Where in Upstate NY are you?

I would suggest starting out with at least one CE5 or iClear16 and one T3. One is top coil, the other is bottom coil. The T3 bottom coil has a little bit tighter draw then the Protank and is about half the price. I used to like the draw and warmth of the top coils, but have switch to bottom coil T3s.

I also didn't care for the look of a Protank on an eGo battery.

Thanks for all the advice! I live in the 'burbs of Rochester, NY but I'm down near NYC this week.

I just purchased a couple of 1000mAh ego twist batts and a vivi nova. For juice I went with a pg/vg blend called "NY4" which is analogous to RY4. 24mg strength.

The vivi nova has a 2.4 ohm coil in it so what do you think a suitable voltage would be to start with?

I would get a tank if I were you, seeing that you should refill when it gets to the 1/2 way point it is better to be safe than sorry. I only smoke(ed) 3/4 pk a day and I can go through 3 ml a day and ughhh cough cough, still smoking some analogs in between(how many depends on if I am having a rough day)
Now if you you get a bottom coils they will use less juice. Those top coils really can eat the juice up quick. Of course optionally you could get a a small zip case for an extra set up(it never hurts to have a spare battery and tank of juice)

Since the air holes on a T3 are on the connector ring I just hold me finger over the top of the ring when I draw in and it definitely gives a harder draw. I have read about putting a toothpick in the holes...I suppose you could use plumbers tape too but that may not be aesthetically pleasing. I am not sure about using a top coil though for your first vape..they can get finicky with dry hits and burnt taste. Just mho

Thanks djezewski! I've got two 1000 mAh batteries so I should be good for all day vaping. As for the nova tank, so far so good. I haven't had any dry hits so far but I have been a little .... in making sure that I tilt the tank from time to time. I also fluffed the wicks just a little bit. I put one of those beauty ring thingys on the ego battery so it hides the threads and makes the whole thing look pretty slick. an added benefit there is that the draw seems to be pretty good. I have also ordered a Pro Tank, along with several different juices from Mtbakervapor. Pretty stoked to try out some new juices but from what I hear from Mtbaker I am going to have to let them steep for a week or two before I try them

Hi Tanrich Guy, Looks like that will do you. I wish I would have known when I first got mine about fluffing the wicks..so far so good with the third wick of mine that I fluffed up. I have 2 spare wicks left so we shall see how long the housing holds up after all mine was just a clone. Happy vaping.
