Hi my name is Chiwalker, live in Ohio, 40 plus yr smoker. Tried e-cigs for first time with 69.00 kit from smoker friendly...much too pricey but all that was local to try. Kit came with charger 1 battery n 4 prefilled cartridges. Four carts local cost 20 bucks so of course I need a cheaper alternative. I like the prefilled n don't want to fuss much. Any advice on cheaper alternatives? Im a 1-2 pk of maverick lites smoker n can say I really like the e cigs n have smoked maybe half dozen real since getting the e cig two days ago. Today/this week bad; cellar flooded lost 3 rms of carpet no ins coverage for water, mainframe state computer down at work today so customers upset about license plates n drivers license issues today, still not sure how much/too much vaping is good for me...using 24 mg carts tobacco flavored all they carry...nt too bad but pricey...help please.

Welcome to ECF. Sorry about your mishap! Things will get better, they always do! You have found the greatest forum on the planet with tons of helpful people and links...I started off with a Joye 510 from Awesomevapor..you should try it out. it ran $50 total. Can't beat it...and it came with 10 prefilled carts. 5 tobacco and 5 menthol. At their site you also receive a free 3ml sample with every e-juice purchase! It's worth a look! I'm sure many more will come to you with better information than i can! Have a good one and Happy vaping!!!

For the easiest, least messy, least fussy option: vapor4life vapor king (AND if you want that except with more battery life: elegant easy)

For the model that's the most versatile in the many different ways you can use it (cartomizers, cartridges, drip tips, tanks, etc., etc., etc.,): the eGo. OR if you want that but smaller in size (and less battery life - be warned) the 510.

GOOD LUCK, and welcome to ECF!

Sorry to hear about your flooding and work issues! I have been vaping 36mg e-juice for months now. Almost constantly when stressed and have not "od'ed" on Niccotine yet. I found that with the smaller e-cig I wanted to hit it for a few minutes at a time, about how long it would take to smoke a cig. But with the egot I need a hit now and then. About every 20 minutes or so, as that is how long the effects of niccotine last in the body. It depends on how much niccotine your body needs to feel satisfied. If you find that Your constantly vaping try 36mg e-juice, you get more niccotine per hit. Nobody really knows if any amount of vaping is really good for you but it is way better then smoking!

U r so right...its better than smoking. think I expect too much too soon. Since ecigs weren't created as a tool to quit but as an alternative to getting a fix in non smoking situations, I suspect exact amounts ingested arent an issue if they ever were. But they are way better and the first thing I ever tried in 40 pls years that gave me any hope of ever quitting the real things.

welcome!! Welcome!! To all the new members :)

A couple things..

If you find you are coughing a lot: this is normal, your body goes through a 'cleansing' process, so to speak.

If you find that you are vaping a lot: you may want to switch to a lower mg, instead of higher. When you get too much nicotine, you will notice by rapid heartbeat, headaches, thirst, etc. We all go through a 'pacifier' stage, because our bodies are used to getting the nic faster, we compensate by vaping more. Once you've passed through this stage of vaping, and your body becomes accustomed to how the nic is absorbed, then you can up your nicotine again.

DIY: I wouldn't attempt diying just yet :) although I lOVE it, and think it's the best option out there.. you may want to learn more about nic and ecigs before heading into that arena.
