Just dropping a line to say hello and highlight issues with vaping in Oz and to vent my gripes.

I live in Perth Western Australia which has passed a misguided piece of legislation on the back drop of a poor ruling in our courts against a vendor that eventually banned the sale of anything remotely connected to e cigarettes, and that pretty well includes everything. The ruling came by the way of an appeal of a dismissed charge against a vendor for selling an item that resembled a cigarette, which is illegal here, but I beg to ask, is a Sigelei 30w VW mod with a Russian 91% bolted onto it look like a cigarette, I leave that up to you to make a ruling on that. I have no doubt that most of this has been driven by the tobacco companies, and the Government due to the drop in tobacco tax (some $350,000,000.00) over the last 18 months or so.

Nicotine in Australia is controlled by a very simple law, "it is illegal to sell or supply nicotine". It can be imported for personal use, worded into the Customs act is it may be imported up to the quantities that define a 3 month supply, reasonably liberal for me, but you would not want to face the courts here with being cited for selling or supplying, you would need a rather large supply of soap on a rope.

Most of you are probably aware of the above but I just wanted to highlight our issues down here in finding a great way to drop the coffin nails with an alternative method than what is available over the counter. For the record, the Cancer Foundation is a major share holder in Nicorette, and they have the audacity to mouth off about e cigarettes. The tightening of laws around e cigs here is not about what we are doing (vaping), it is all about the money, backed by misguided information which is then acted upon by the government, customs, and the courts.

Now this bit here is MHO, our vaping devises should never have been label e cigarettes, whilst it was no doubt a very clever marketing exercise it has manage to pretty well re-label what is in fact a personal vaporiser, and vapors in certain countries will suffer the consequences of that naming convention now and into the future in the guise of laws, legislation, acts and ruling of there courts until there is a total ban on e cigarettes.

The above is really a whinge I suppose concerning that lack of freedom we have in Australia to make a personal decision concerning what is right, or best for the individual to relieve ourselves of the disgusting habit of smoking, which I enjoyed for a very long time. It is encouraging that the research into vaping is stepping up and some of the findings have been encouraging, it has also been found that some of the ingredients in some liquids have associated risks when inhaled. I would like to see all manufacturers of e liquid display additives that are a risk much like Nicoticket do. The positive to this is we can make a decision to avoid these flavours and the associated risk on a personal level. For information concerning some research findings and the fight for vaping rights in the USA Google vapefight.

That's it for me with regards to my whinging and gripes, the next post will be nothing but positives with my vaping experiences I have had since taking it up 4 months ago, which has helped me avoid around 4000 coffin nails and save $3000.00 after buying all my vaping equipment to date.

Welcome to the Forum.

Many of us are aware of what is happening in your area. We are sickened by the disgraceful way that the court system and the governing bodies are protecting the tobacco industry. I'm guessing that it is NOT illegal to sell cigarettes, hmm? There ya go!

We are fighting very hard to keep what is happening in your country, from happening in the US. Hopefully, the truth will prevail and things will reverse for you. We can only keep trying.

Welcome to ECF, pure insanity over there and we may be next!

Sounds like time to slowly (in small quantities) accumulate a mountain of 100mg nic base in the freezer and just DIY until the end of time.:vapor:

Best of luck!

That's the plan, the family will help out, I'm not interested in going into business, I'll leave that to the pros. There is a black market down here and I take my hat off to them, but all it will take it one grumpy customer and bang, game over.

Vapefight is a good read, and it makes me sick that governments work with the tobacco industry in killing off alternates, like I said, it is nothing to do with your health, it's all about the money.

It's a bit like the electric car, the film "Who Killed The Electric Car" is exactly what's going on with vaping, exactly, if you have not seen it, grab it, it will change the way you look at big business and those grubby little politicians.

Cheers
