So I tried a mini style about 6 months ago and really didnt try to quit analogs. I used it at work mostly. It was okay but not good enough to help me quit i was always desiring more. It was a Blu.

Two days ago i bought a ego-c from the local vape store and have been loving it ever since. I have had 1 analog since i bought it. Which i really just did because my wife was going outside for a smoke.

I know its only been two days. But two days without a analog before vaping would have been horrifying. It was a little hard the first 6 hours and in the morning when i wake up but while i cant say i quit yet. I can see it happening.

Any advice for a newbie. Where to order parts and liquids? Anything i should research? Fill me in.

Good to be here and thanks

Welcome to ECF , and as for a place to look for supplies , and such . Check out the forum suppliers area . Lots of juices , and equiptment available from forum approved suppliers . ( held to a higher standard ) Good luck , and the longer you use your PV , the less you will even want to smoke . Hang in there , it does get easier with time .

The best advice I can give you is to do a lot of reading on this forum before you purchase anything. Learn the lingo and difference between cartomizers, clearomizers, atomizers, tanks, etc. There is a glossary at the top of the main forum page under Info Zone.

When starting out things are really confusing, but we are all here to help you out. When buying e-liquid flavors, start with small amounts 5 ML or 8 ML. You really do need to find a flavor that you are satisfied with all day long. This can be a difficult process and expensive, or you may find a favorite right away. Don't give up, keep experimenting. Your life depends on it.

I only quit a week ago, so my advise might not mean anything. I could not quit for the life of me, until I got my E-cig. The minute I got home, I threw my smokes away so I couldn't smoke. When I felt the urge to smoke, I vaped and vaped and vaped until it stopped. LOL .. The following day, my sister came over, sat a few feet in front of me and smoked the same brand I was just smoking the day before. I sat next to her and vaped. Then I realized, all the thick smoke in the air along with the nasty smell. I immediately became excited at the idea, "I don't do that anymore". A little later, my daughter came in, coughing from the smoke. I proudly said, "It's not me giving you the second hand smoke!" Needless to say, my sister became embarrassed and asked me to drive her down so she could quit her smokes. Now we both vape on!!!!! :)

Welcome, a little trick that has proved itself to me is to go to the General Smoking section and click on the stickie..I believe it' the 2nd one down.....ECF 2012 Awards....look for juice at the top or juice vendors. When going to a site, look how many reviews for a juice that sounds good to you. More reviews the better. Most don't like tobacco flavors on here, but when you're new you kind of migrate to them depending on what you smoked. As for me I smoked Marlboro's then the cheap Fortunas....I absolutely love Copper Creek House Blend. There is a lot of talk of Boba Bounty and it"s good....but not as good as CCHB. I have sampled most of the highly rated tobaccos and some others. Welcome and good luck. Lot of help on here.....listening to seasoned veterans such as Baditude will be of great help.

My only advice, don't get disheartened because some of the items of vaping break easily (cartos, clearos) but as others told you, try to look for quality vendors that stand behind their products. Also, Mount Baker Vapor is a great juice supplier (you get a free 15 ml bottle with any order 15$ or above) so I think that's a great place to start.

Another trick is to not throw out the ciggies.....keep them on you...I did and have..Still have 6 and the wife 7. They are like a security blanket....one you won't be using. I work at night and my battery ran out just after midnight....I don't go home for another 6 hours, I didn't light up even though I had them on me....once you start vaping...there is no going back. It's that good...there is no fight....there is no jitters....my wife, who wasn't into it from the start, 7 days stinkie free....guess she got tired of going out into the freezing, snowy, rainy weather. She calls it a "miracle". My wife, son have taken the "hobby", this our experience..hope some of it helps.

Thanks for all the replies. My dad has been vaping for almost a year now and he smoked for 30 years. A lot if my motivation came from there. As well as some knowledge. He uses the same kit i bought. Ill check out some of the stuff yall mentioned. So far ive tried a camel brand cig flavor which i like. Camel was my brand. I also have a caramel apple and a strawberry kiwi. The apple is great but the strawberry while taste good can be a little much at times.

Whats steeping ive seen that term mentioned a time or two.

Well, what works for me is not to pressure myself "to quit". If I smoke, I smoke. Thing is, more I get into "vaping", the less I like tobacco cigs. Especially since my sense of taste seems threatening to return. Regular cigs taste awful now. It's easier to ignore them as time goes by. I can see myself eventually being repelled by the things. In just two weeks and change, I've gone from two packs a day to two or three cigs a day. Still stunned. If anybody had told me I'd do that without any real effort, I would have laughed for days.

I think since a lot of people smoke when they're stressed, getting stressed about quitting is a little self-defeating. I fell into this almost by accident--bought a Blu disposable just to try this "e-cig thing" out--and never planned on quitting. I was buying my regular carton when I bought the disposable.

I just discovered I liked the vaping better than the cigs and forgot (I'm dead serious, forgot) to light up for nine hours. Freaked me out.

Long as the trend is away from tobacco, I'm happy. I'll worry about "quitting" later. If it doesn't just happen on its own.

I think if you get into the flavors and varieties of liquids and all, you might find what I'm finding, this is better. Smokers always have "a brand" right? You get the same taste and... "experience" all day, every day. Vaping... the choices are unreal. I recently joked on Facebook that "on the menu today is cinnamon blueberry crumble". Awesome (I love blueberry) but, yeah, rich. Like a rich, heavy dessert that is just awesome but you couldn't take having it day in and day out?

Regular cigs are tasting harsh and boring. When I get the urge to have one these days, I catch myself thinking, "Do I have to?"

Latest was when I discovered the "morning cig with coffee" died. That was recent. The idea of the old cigs with coffee? Bleah. :)

So I decided not to pressure myself. Did put the pack of cigs, ashtray, lighters, all that in a cabinet. The vaping is convenient, the regular cigs, less so. Had two today. Two packs to two cigs in two weeks. I'll take it. :)

I say explore the vaping and you may find you just lose interest in the analogs. Lot of people I've run into here quit "accidentally". Weird thought but pretty much what happened to me. Though I haven't yet "quit", talk about a drop off.

Anyway.

Best advice I can give a fellow newbie is stick around. Lots of experienced, knowledgeable folks around ECF who love to talk vaping. Don't even have to "research" so much as just have a chat. :)

A lot of juices are freshly made when you order them and need some time for the flavors to meld together - think of it like decanting wine. Generally, you just put the bottle in a cabinet and shake it periodically. Some people take the caps off, some don't. If a juice has a strong perfumey smell, it tends to dissipate with steeping. How long you steep a juice is trial and error.

I'm pretty new myself, only a week and half in. I never really planned to quit smoking I just figured that if I enjoyed vaping and it cut down on the regular cigarette's it was a win-win situation. In that week and a half I've gone from a pack a day to 3-5 cigarette's a day without any real effort. It turns out I just prefer to vape (and I'm still using basic stuff, Volt's with prefilled cart's).

After 30 yrs I'll admit i was ready to quit smoking. Nothing ever worked so I didn't expect much from vaping except maybe slowing down some. Once I got started I put my cigs in the cabinet and never looked at them again. Gave my last 3 packs away about a month later. Still have an urge to smoke once in a while but it doesn't last long espeacially if I smell a smoker. I hate the smell now.
