Hello all,
A quick introduction and history. My wife and I had been smokers for about 25 years. There were a few breaks (sometimes for several months) when one or both of us quit, some periods of heavy smoking, some where we would smoke less than half a pack each. Many, many, many attempts at quitting that always resulted in failure. Our most recent attempt involved a prescription of Wellbutrin. Both of us experienced a build-up of the drug that resulted in crippling anxiety a truly awful experience. And so, we were back on the cigarettes. I didn't think we could ever quit and with both of us in our 40's, I was really worried about our health. I love my wife so dearly and want as much time with her as possible.
Fast forward a few months, a few more attempts at quitting. After another failed attempt (we made it 3 days this time) I found myself heading to the store again to buy a pack of smokes to calm our nerves, the kids had been particularly trying that day and my wife gave me that look that said, "I can't do this, I need a <expletive deleted> smoke!" I went to the store to buy a pack and also picked up two starter packs of the Fin brand e-cigs. I returned home and said, "I got a pack, but I think we should try these." I have a friend at work who vapes and he had (slowly) convinced me that it was a much better alternative. Nicotine gum and patches had not worked for my wife. I think she was as addicted to her "smoke break" as she was to the nicotine. My wife considered the Fin e-cigarettes with skepticism, but promised to give them a try. I left her the next morning with about 10 cigarettes and her e-cig. About noon she called me and said, "This isn't too bad, I think this might work." Two days later, while we were both vaping on the couch watching TV she turned to me and said, "You know, I really like this!"
It has now been over a month we have been smoke-free. We are now using eGo batteries with mega cartomizers. I am seriously looking at getting a Provari and a Z-Atty-Pro. The eGo is about my wife's limit size-wise, she doesn't understand the allure of the Provari and a rebuildable atty. (Suggestions welcome for her and if anyone knows an e-liquid that is close to the nutty flavor of the Fin e-cig, let me know, it remains her favorite flavor and we have tried a good number of e-liquids.)
One final note: I know that products like the Fin or Blu e-cigs are not well regarded here, but I think they serve an important function in giving people an inexpensive way to take the leap into the world of vaping. My wife's smoker's cough is now gone, we are both feeling better and very happy to be smoke free.
