New member - just discovered vaping

Howdy all. I just discovered vaping the other day and it was a revelation. I was completely unaware of vaping, sick and tired of smoking and after reading many of the remarkable success stories here on ECF I decided that here (vaping) was a methodology that would finally get me off of smokes (or analogues, as I discovered they're called).

I spent hours researching, learning and ordered an Apollo Superior eGo CE4 Kit, a bunch of juices and accessories and was delighted to learn they shipped the next day.

I've got my 58th birthday coming up this week and I think a marvelous self-present would be to get off the smokes and in to vaping.

Thank you for sharing your success stories and wisdom. They really helped and motivated me because 5 days ago I was absolutely clueless about all of this.

I wish you all the best and continued success. Thank you.

Congratulations on the upcoming birthday and welcome to ECF!

I'm curious, who did you order your eliquids from? Just to keep you from experiencing too much disappointment, keep in mind that you will probably have to let the juices steep for at least a couple of days (preferably with the cap off) at room temperature before they start tasting like they should, depending on vendor.

So don't plan on going right from analogs to vaping. Once you get up a good supply of juice that is steeping, and you find the right juices for you with the right PG/VG blend and nicotine level, you're going to be amazed at how quickly you make the transition to vaping full time.

So congratulations on your first steps! And keep with it! It is well worth the effort, and I'm sure you'll find, like most of us, that vaping is SOOO much more enjoyable and satisfying than analogs ever were!

Welcome to ECF. Glad you found us and decided to vape instead of smoke. I do want you to know that it is ok to smoke a few cigarettes while you are making the transition. Some people can just put down the cigarettes and pick up the pv and end of story. Many others have a transition period. This is the time where you are learning how your equipment operates and you are trying a lot of new juices in various flavors and nicotine strengths to see what works for you. You will find your combination of what works for you personally, sometimes it takes time.

If you look beneath my Avatar picture near the bottom it will say blog post: 2. Click on that. I have written 2 short blogs, one about volts/watts and the second with a number of links on where to find juice vendors, where to trade juices and info on juices that crack plastic tanks. Some good reading while you wait for your setup to arrive. Oh, and here is a link on how to inhale on your pv. It is different than smoking.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-library/337017-inhalation-technique-e-cigarette.html

Remember to have fun with this. There is a lot to learn and some of it takes practice. Best way to clean your tanks that hold the juice is to run them under hot water. For the heads you also rinse under hot running water and then do a soak in vodka. Rinse then let dry completely before using. Good luck to you and glad you are here.

.

Thanks Ryuukon! (and Howdy) I ordered the juices from Apollo along with the starter kit, figuring that they would all arrive in one go and I could get started in one go as well.

between here and there
Howdy there.(yes, in WV we say howdy)
Welcome to ecf.
I wanted to mention that some juice doesn't require much steep time, especially most single flavored fruits. Plus remember, if the vendor makes the ejuice fresh when it is ordered, that is when steeping(aging) begins, so by the time it reaches you, it has already steeped for a few days. Go ahead and try your ejuice(after the battery is charged, of course). Hopefully, you got a couple of different ejuices, so if one just doesn't cut it right away, try the other one. If both are awful, then find an b&m(brick and morter store) close to you and go and try out some before you buy.

Also, vaping will dry out your mouth, nose and throat. Always have your fav beverage close at hand. It also makes the vaping smoother.
Look at some of the stickies at the top of the new members page. Find the ones that talk about how to vape. Vaping is not smoking so don't take deep lung hits, especially right away. Most of the nic in the vapor is absorbed through the mouth, nose and throat so many vapers don't even inhale. Now, if you are like me,(ex-smoker of 40+ yrs) the inhaling part is so ingrained, that I can't stop doing it. I just don't deeply inhale with ecigs.

Let us know if you have questions or if you just want to hang out and meet new peeps.

Good luck.
:)

I'm getting in the Conga line with the others to welcome you to ECF and vaping. Kogent, congrats on your decision to give up analogs and explore the wonderful world of vaping. There are more vaping options than I ever imagined. Sounds like you have some good gear on order and I hope that your 58th birthday will be tobacco free. I lurked here for a while and did research before I started vaping 2 months ago and have been cigarette and tobacco free for 60 days. And have thoroughly enjoyed my vaping experience so far. Just starting to experiment with different flavors.

The advice about drinking more water (or beverage of choice) is something that really helped me. Also, learning about the difference between how to smoke and how to vape from the folks here in ECF (and youtube) was invaluable.

Wishing you a happy birthday a few days early and also hoping you find a vaping experience that meets or exceeds your expectations. Namaste.

Very excited tonight. The starter kit that I ordered from Apollo arrived today. Charged the batteries and filled a clearomizer with 18 mg pumpkin spice juice and began my vaping adventure. I smoked what will hopefully be my last analogue while the battery was charging.

Now I have to change various habits associated with smoking. I found myself checking my pockets for a lighter when I was going out to vape. I also found myself going out to vape (we don't smoke in the house). The interesting test will come tomorrow morning with the AM coffee. I think if I can get past that then I am well on my way.

Thanks again to everyone for the warm greetings and sound vaping wisdom. It is really appreciated!
