Well I wanted to post a reply in another thread but realized I hadn't posted at least 5 times! I started reading ECF last year in December after talking to one of my wife's relatives. He was a heavy smoker and had given it up completely after discovering vaping. After talking with him last year on Thanksgiving I thought I should check it out. He smoked way more than I did and if he could do it, why couldn't I? I lurked on ECF for quite a while learning as much as I could. I bought a Kanger Protank 2 and an MVP2 right off the bat. I liked it a lot and also bought an eGo twist and a couple eGo EVOD clearomizers.

I was still smoking the stinkies a couple times a day but vaping for the most part. Then a week later I found out that the company I was employed by for over 11 years decided they could no longer afford to pay for my position. I suddenly had no idea how I was going to be able to support my wife and kids. Due to massive amounts of stress I put my vaping supplies away and went back to smoking - and smoking twice as much as I did before.

Fast forward a year later - we relocated and I have another job. Things are going much better and I'm getting back to vaping again. I'm still smoking a couple stinkies a day, unfortunately, but slowly trying to vape more. My Protank 2, for whatever reason, has now developed a burnt weird chemical taste even with new coils and new liquid. The cheap EVODs actually taste much better (even with only a 2 ml capacity) so I've been using them.

I'm thinking of upgrading to the Aspire Atlantis with the Aspire CF sub ohm battery. But only 2 mls? Really?

Anyways - been lurking on and off for the last year, figured I'd post and say hi.

well im glad to see you on here and vaping once again. When you were tasting the burnt flavor did you also change your juice with the coil? The aspire atlantis is great i vape major rda's ( dreadnaut, panzer, hades 26650) and i went out and bought it after being off tanks for nearly a year. the cf battery is good but what i would do is get something like and ipv1,2 or 3, you will have much long battery life and in my opinion a better vape quality.

You might try breaking these down and giving them a good long soak in some warm water with a bit (just a bit) of dawn dish soap. And I mean really break them down; pull out the o-rings from the bases & everything. Let them soak for several hours or even overnight, then give everything a super good rinse making sure you get all the residue off (i use a q-tip on the glass, etc) then let them dry up.

A lot of times people just give them a rinse now and again, not realizing bacteria can be building up and spreading around a funk. Depending on how old they are and the liquids used, those o-rings can start absorbing flavors; you can replace them at myvaporstore or such (avoid the sunny one). For awhile you can just flip them and be OK, but eventually they can start to taint stuff.

Now that I'm seriously getting back to vaping and trying to quit the stinkies I've been thinking of upgrading. At first I was partial to the Atlantis but a 2ml tank seems a bit small. After reading around and doing a bit of research I've read some good things about the Orchid v4. Yeah it requires building but seems cheaper in the long run than having to constantly buy coils. I'm guessing my MVP2 wouldn't be the right thing to use for something like that (at least not to get the full benefits).

Thoughts?

Do you already have an MVP2? In which case it'll work just fine in terms of output. You won't be sub-ohm'ing with the MVP2, but in all honesty the orchid doesn't like super hot coils. Something between 1.2-2 Ohm final build would be just fine, or even 1.6-2.2. While the MVP2 maxes out at 11 watts, the orchid isn't really a cloud blower to start with. An MPV 20watt (or something in that class) might be the sweet spot, but you'd honestly probably never know much of a difference.

Thanks for the info! Yes I already have an MVP2. I may have to check out the Orchid. A quality tank with rebuildable coils sounds awesome (no more $$$ on coils). It also helps that I can mix and match to make it my own (glass tank, top filling cap, etc). Not sure what other customizations are out there but it looks very interesting (and fairly cheap).
