I've been a long time lurker and just recently became a member and want to be active in the vaping community!! I just recently (about two months ago) quit smoking and started vaping and I LOVE it (after 10 years of smoking...I've not smoked one since I got my baby!!!!!)!!! This forum has taught me so much and I know it will continue to do so! This forum also has given me confidence to not only to try and start making my own juices but my husband and i are throwing the idea around of starting our own vape store here in Indiana! Since I've started vaping, I've fallen in love with it! I think it's a MUCH better alternative to smoking cigarettes, and let's just get down to it...it's YUMMY! :) I wanted to thank everyone here for all the information, inspirational stories, sharing your flavors, likes, dislikes, and your set up! I just wanted to show my appreciation for this forum and to say hello!

I'm also interested in any advice on DIY juice, and stories of anyone else that might be running their own little "mom and pop" vape store and how it is for you!

So excited to be here and looking forward to come good convo's! :)

Welcome to the Asylum winemermaid...

It's great that you want to start your own store! Do yourself and your customers a big favor by demonstrating a high level of integrity. Carry genuine brand products when ever possible, and if you do carry clones/fakes/knock-offs at a lower price point, make sure your customers are well aware of the difference.

I would suggest starting out by getting a business license, doing an LLC, buying some inventory you think will appeal to your customer base, then starting out at local swap meets to get a feel for the business and your customers. If it all goes well and you think the income can support it, move into a brick and mortar store. I realize there's more to it than what my simplistic paragraph allows, but... most important, have a plan!

Cheers and good luck!!!

Nice post. Appreciation and gratitude are simply wonderful. Thank you for sharing that.

I DIY and highly recommend it. It can be a lot less expensive than purchasing eliquid. It takes some money to get set up, get your concentrates, bottles, accessories, bases and nic. I enjoy it as a hobby. Made ten new samples this morning for testing next weekend (after steeping). Found they must steep for a while, and like wine, get better with age (flavor bonds take time). It's a family thing at my house. We sat down at breakfast and discussed different flavors to create. An hour of mad scientist time later, they're happily steeping away in my cupboard. I still buy juices. Buy from national vendors like MBV and JC, and locally try a lot of stuff. Once, we lock onto a flavor we like, then the mad-scientist chase race to recreate it. Eventually, get pretty close, sometimes better, than the "target" juice. Fun hobby.

I study the DIY forums for long hours, reviewing details about my favorite concentrate maker, TFA. Get tons of good ideas, starting points, etc. from these posts. It takes a while to figure out starting percentages and if you're way off, a lot of the initial efforts were not so good. But, in time, you get the hang of it. Some flavors are very strong at 2%, some need about 20%, making the starting point important, and less time consuming to end up with something vapeable. So, recommend you check out the DIY forums. This will save a lot of time and money, certainly in the long run.

While we are still looking forward to maybe opening A shop, we are researching (this takes so much research) and hobbying it in the meantime.

The whole FDA bull doesn't make this a good time to open (or maybe a booming time?) So waiting it out seems to be the best option at this point.

But oh boy, is hobbying so much fun!! ;)

Welcome to ECF,
Where in Indiana were you thinking of opening shop?

Madison, IN. Southeastern Indiana. My mother in law already has a shop downtown and is insisting we do it! I suppose we are going to give it a shot! Worst comes to worst, I'm gonna have a lot of extra Vape gear. Lol

This is a weekly gig at our family home! Since we started vaping, it really took off as a hobby! I enjoying DIY juices and experimenting with different flavors. This forum has been just wonderful. There has been multiple times that I wouldn't have ever figured something out if it wasn't for this forum!
