Hello

Great news - My mom has told me that if I get her an e-cig for her birthday she will stop smoking! I do not use ecigs myself and I was hoping to get some advice and recommendations from knowledgeable forum members on a cheap solution that I can purchase for her and any suggested retailers serving the GTA area in Ontario Canada.

Wanting a mechmod that takes 18650 batteries like the Arizer Air as I have a bunch of those around here, and she is ok with the larger size if it looks similar to the Air (picture attached, guess that would be a flashlight style?).

If I were getting it for myself I would do the research and find out the information but I am not using ecigs so don't want to invest all the time.

Thanks!
Got ecigi 2 weeks and never touch cigarette at all. Try it before with cheap battery and tank and still smoked. Now with the good one it was so easy. Going for parties every Friday with people smoking around me and I'm shocked I never touched it

I have a Vamo (V5), Evic (v.1), SID (all sorts of old kit) and the iSticks are so small in comparison, it's almost impossible to explain how much of a size evolution they were.
I always get a little sad about them being disposable, but value for money, it's hardly worth buying anything else even if you have 18650 batteries.

Ok.. the Airizer is an "aromatherapy" device. It works differently than an Ecig. Your device is what's called a regulated device. It has different settings for different heat that you want. It has both a vaporizer and a battery in one unit.

With ecigs, it is for the most part totally different. The mech mod you're describing, is simply a metal tube with a 510 connector on top, and an on/off switch. It pretty much works like hooking two wires from the positive and negative of the battery, to the atomizer... no circuitry or electronics to protect the battery from shorting. They can be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing, and most starting vapers don't know.

If I had to build my own starter kit, I'd recommend an Istick 30 with an aspire Nautilus tank for starters. the istick 30 has a built in battery, but they are well known devices and have been proven pretty reliable.

Another kit I recommend, is a subox mini kit. The unit itself is good, but the atomizer might be a bit much for a starting vaper, so I'd probably recommend buying an additional Nautilus atomizer for her to start with and shelf the subtank atomizer if she decides to stick with it. That would give you such a huge range, and you probably wouldn't have to buy new devices in the future if she stuck with it.

You guys know your stuff! I found a vape bar in Dundas and tried a few 0 nicotine samples and liked it so much I got an iStick 30 with a nautilus for myself :p going back with mom in a few days to pick her one out and sample different fluids.

She saw my iStick this evening and mentioned she might like something that looks a little more like a cigarette though. The samplers in the vape bar were pen like and only had a simple button to press while inhaling with no display. I'll ask what those are when I go back with her, maybe she would rather have that style.

Those little stick batteries are what most of us started with. They work..... Kinda. But it's a start. I would recommend 2 or 3 depending on the mah. They will not last all day. Well maybe if you rarely use it.

If you want a tube mod, I'd look at the Aspire CF. It has a spring loaded connector, 1000MaH battery, and an overall good setup. The advantages of the box mods, is they're shorter. With tube mods, they put the electroncis above the battery, adding to the height. With the box mods, they put the electronics BESIDE the battery, and gives it a much shorter and smaller appearance.

A. IMHO you do not want to get unregulated device;
B. Try to stay away from cheap devices or clones
C. There are many regulated and easy to use devices available, something like Joyetech eGo or eCom.. to name a few
D. don't go for a box mod (may be later)
E. and if you must use a mod with 18650! use IMR batteries

and one more thing! Don't get any fancy eJuice, stick to TBC flavour.

Hope it helps
