Hi All,

Have recently managed to kick smoking thanks to ecigs (e-lites). Looking to move off the insanely expensive (£4 /$6 per carto) e-lites and get some decent kit. Size and convenience are key for me so after trawling the forums have been drawn to the idea of Riva / Joye 510 650mha bats and either cartos / clearomiser.
  • does this sound right ? Is there a better brand / size combo I've missed ? Riva and Joye are the only ones people seem to recommend?
  • how come nobody in the UK seems to either sell or have stock of Riva 510 bats ?
  • how come nobody in the UK seems to sell the Joye 510-t ? Is this discontinued?
  • have got old advice and 510 is no longer the way to go ?

Any advice / help would be greatly appreciated ! The whole vaping thing is way more confusing than it seems to the uninitiated.

Thanks,

C

Well for one thing, Joye 510 cig-alikes do make a good first step, and a good fall back, they are pretty much a standard threading wise as well as carts/attys you can attach. Downside is the batts depending on your vaping, can last 1-2 hours between charges, so you'll need several in rotation etc. So as a back up unit/kit they can be useful, I still use mine to change up flavors, and such. My best advice for a tank/carto for a 510 would be a Kanger T4, top coil, but easy to refill. Though, my better limited advice would be to look at the Joye Ego style, most still have the 510 connection along with the Ego threading as well, so you can attach 510 threaded attachments especially atty's for taste as you try drip tip as well as Ego threaded tanks/clearomizer tanks etc. Larger batteries, 650mah Ego about diameter of a regular cigar with a good coil/tank attachment, longer battery life, less needing to refill the tanks over cartos, pretty simple system/kit. Some of these Ego come with usb pass-through meaning you can charge and vape at the same time with them. It all depends on how you vape and how discreet you wish to be, looking at larger/bulkier mods or units that would be ideal for at home, smaller or mid-size for portability and discreetness in public.

2 maybe 3 Ego batt maybe 650mah, higher mah longer the batt will be in cigar size, 650s easier to carry truthfully
1 to 3 CE5 Tank/Clearomizer (Kanger calls them a T2) top replaceable coil hotter vape
or
1 to 3 Kanger T3/MT3/Evod (Bottom Coil, cooler vape)
1 to 2 510 drip attomizers for trying new liquids with, with a drip tip
1 or 2 chargers (1 wall mount charger/1 usb or usb car charger adapter)

Find a kit like this, gives you 1 or 2 batteries in charging, 1 - 3 tanks, 1 in use, 1 or 2 in backup, replaceable coils so you are not constantly replacing whole tanks, 1 or 2 testing tips, universal connections for fiddling with different attachments and experimenting, later when you get a better grasp, this becomes a good backup when you progress to a more advanced system with variable volt or variable wattage etc.

Really agree with the ego recommendation. Moving up from the cig-alike size gives you so much more battery life without being ridiculously huge.
I love my EVOD clearos, and sun vapers has a kit with charger, 2 ego batteries, 2 Evod heads and (I think) a couple replacement coils for a decent price. Not sure if they ship to UK, but worth checking. Also, they have a bottom coil, and vape a lot cooler than you might be used to, so maybe try one out before you buy much.
If you like the smaller size, I've heard a lot about the e-roll from joyetech. Small battery clicks into a charging case with its own 1000mah battery, so it goes all day, and the case is supposed to be about the size of an iPhone.
Good luck, sometimes there are almost too many options out there, but you'll find what works best for you.
