Welcome!

Everybody has their own opinion on what's best, and there are hundreds of options.

- If you want it to look and feel close to a real cigarette, then get a cig-sized device like Bloog, Volt, Vapor King, ect.
- If you don't mind something bigger with a manual button, then get a mid-sized battery like and eGo, kGo, Go-Go, ect.
- If you want all the options turned up to 11, then jump in with both feet first and grab a ZMax or a Provari.

Good luck! :D

The small cigarette sized ones don't necessarily work so well (short battery life)...
These batteries work just fine. They do have a short battery life, and that is something new people need to be aware of, but there are hundreds of people (even on this forum) who never upgrade past these batteries and are just as successful vaping with them as anyone else. They work just as well as any non-VV device, you just have to change them out and recharge them more often.

There is no "best". Just a best for you. I started with Volts from Smokeless Image and they are still working fine for me...first the cig-sized...then the bigger X2 batteries. Others will recommend ego or 510 systems. Honestly, as long as you get quality equipment, you'll be fine. It's all a learning curve and you can't start learning, well, until you start. Remember that's everything is disposable...bats, cartos, clearos, juice, chargers will all wear out or be used up. What you start with is not likely to be what you will be using forever.

The important thing to know is to purchase your first setup from a reputable, quality company that sells genuice known brands, not knockoff brands that may be of lesser quality. Unfortunately, many of the "over-the-counter" e-cig companies have poor quality equipment or have very limited e-liquid selections that are over-priced and kind of force you to continue to use their products.

Unless you know of a local brick-and-mortar e-cig store to visit, your best option is to order online. Do not purchase from a mall e-cig kiosk.

Know that starting out with the cigarette-sized batteries will get your foot in the door of vaping, if that is what you will be more comfortable starting out with. Just be aware that these batteries will only last 3-4 hours per charge, requiring that you have three or four to last you throughout your day. Despite their limitations, many have quit smoking using these.

The intermediate-sized eGo-class batteries are larger (long cigar sized), but perform better and will allow longer use between charges (6-13 hours), so only a couple of these batteries are needed. These batteries also have more options available for juice carrying devices for use on top of your battery than the cigarette-sized batteries.

View attachment 164522 The Smokeless Image Volts and Volt X2's

The above image shows a size comparison of these batteries with a cigarette. The smaller two batteries are the cigarette-sized batteries that will only last you 3-4 hours each. The three larger white batteries are the eGo sized batteries that last much longer.

The following link will direct you to a picture dictionary of the more common juice carrying devices that are used on top of batteries: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/cartomizers/343294-proper-terminology-carto-tank-what-lol.html#post7562212

One of the reputable companies that I mentioned above is Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Smokeless Image Electronic Cigarettes - The Future is in your hands. They carry both the cigarette-sized (the Volt) and the intermediate eGo sized batteries (they call those the Volt X2). All of their supplies are interchangeable, so there is no worry about what works with what. I personally would recommend the larger X2 batteries over the smaller Volts.

If your starter kit does not need to look like a cigarette to you, I recommend 2 eGo Twist or 2 eGo Spinner variable voltage batteries (which together will last you over an entire day between charges), an Ego charger, a USB wall adaptor, and 3 large capacity clearomizers or 2 Mini Vivi Nova tanks.

Next you will need to order some e-liquid. I have two recommended juice vendors listed below (figure on at least 3ml used a day = 90 ml/month).

You need not place your order with the below vendors, they are only recommended by myself as an example of an ideal and inexpensive starter kit.

The following components from Altsmoke and Discount Vapors and can be obtained for under $100 before tax and shipping charges (Juice not included):

I've recently started vaping 3-4 weeks ago, so I'm right in your shoes. Three years ago I tried it for a couple months, purchasing premium c-cigs, and was happy with the experience. Though I found the smaller batteries (standard analog size) did not last long enough for what I needed and I ended up quitting smoking and vaping all together.

Now, years later, I've found myself smoking again but hating it - noticed someone vaping an ego-C - and my interest perked right back up realizing the technology has greatly advanced to the point that vaping is practical to replace actually smoking.

I purchased, and have been very happy with, an ego-C type set-up. For roughly $50 I had an entire kit, battery, cartomizer, charger and juice for the week. I've since purchased numerous batteries of the ego style - I've found the Vision Spinner battery is relatively cheap, lasts 1-2 days on a charge, and easily accepts many atomizer/cartomizer/tank options. I don't plan on using ego's forever - but for the price and practicality at this point I have been very satisfied.

Just my input..

The recently introduced Joye eRoll/Ovale eMini (same thing) would be my first choice to recommend to new vapers. It is cigarette sized but avoids many of the problems with cigarette sized batteries because it stays in a powerful charging case that is quite small and very attractive. You won't be running around sucking on something that looks like it has been misplaced from the tool chest in the garage.

The PCC case means you don't have to spend as good chunk of your time bothering with annoyingly frequent battery charging and weak vapes as the battery runs down. I started with a different cigarette-sized battery but the battery charging drove me crazy in less than a week so I upgraded to Twists which have a sane battery life and stuck with the cig-alike for out and about where I do not want my vaping gear mistaken for something more sinister.

I'm now using the eRoll for out and about and I have a U-Can on the way for my juice. That combo is more than enough to get me through a full day of errands. The eRoll will provide you with the psychological comfort of a cigarette form factor and still produce a good quality vape over approximately 10 hours of average vaping time.

You may decide you want a large mod later on but you can upgrade when and if you feel the urge rather than being driven to it by battery charging hades and an inferior vape as the batteries lose their charge.

These YouTube reviews will give you an idea of how the eRoll works:

Joyetech eRoll Review. This little eCig is AWESOME!

Once you have five posts and the server has time to reset (about an hour) you can post questions in the ECF JOYETECH ERoll forum.

If you're not worried about size, then let me suggest the Echo. A 650 mAh model will easily last all day long. They are automatic e-cigs only, about the diameter of a cigar. It easily has the smoothest draw I've yet seen in an e-cig, even smoother than an NJoy King disposable. I got mine from Mountain Vapor, I think they're the only ones still selling the 650's. It does have a big bright LED on the end, so if that is a turn off there are stealth models available from other vendors. Vapor Girl has them in 350 models, which would be tiny as hell. You can also get them from Cropduster901 and NHaler, but Mountain Vapors has the best price.

Seriously, get an Echo and a sample pack of juice. I doubt you'll be disappointed.

EDIT: If you are in the UK, I don't know of any UK vendors. Sorry.

I recommend the KGO VV - it's what I started on. It's an ego size battery with variable voltage. You will find lots of variation between atomizer/clearomizer/cartomizer resistance and how different juices taste at different power levels. This is a fairly inexpensive battery, but I think that variable voltage, regardless of the battery, is definitely the way to go. It will give you the flexibility to adjust whatever juice or atty/clearo/carto you start with to your individual taste and will help you be more successful with vaping. Good luck!
