Hey, all. I've been lurking this site for a few weeks now, and decided it's time to make an account.

vaping has been something that has greatly interested me, which is how I was originally led here.

I know this may sound insane, but I'm actually not a cigarette smoker. I'm 22, and have literally, never had a cigarette in my life. I read the "new member rules", and I know we're not supposed to have drug-talk, but the only thing I've ever smoked is ......... I smoked very casually for a few years, and just stopped for many reasons.

Cigarettes have pretty much never interested me at all, and I was never too big into drinking, which is what let me to ........ originally. I have severe anxiety and stress, and honestly, that's helped heaps and bounds. Unfortunately, medical ......... still isn't around in Illinois (but it's getting there...), and I wanted to find something actually legal; something I don't have to constantly stress over.

A buddy of mine introduced me to his e-cig, and I have been intrigued ever since. Here's the problem.. I'm still unsure if this is the right thing to try out for me. I know most people who use e-cigs are long time smokers wanting to find a healthy and even cheaper alternative, and I know it seems silly going from pretty much a non-cig smoker to e-cig, but truthfully, I need something to take the edge off. I work out often, I've tried therapy, but nothing really works outside the illegal route.

If I did decide on giving this a go, I'd be a really light/casual user (as I was with previous smoking), basically just using it to mellow me out/relieve stress. My concern is becoming addicted to the nicotine.. I haven't experienced it, and I don't want to become mentally or physically dependent of it. Nothing else has ever given me trouble addiction-wise, but I have read/heard nicotine is a powerful substance, and that's what worries me the most.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: My apologies, I didn't know that 'word' was censored. I'm sure you guys know what I meant. Sorry to mods if I broke any rules, was just trying to explain my situation.

I can totally understand my wife has the same issues.. only difference is she was a smoker.. that being said sounds like your interested but not sure about the nicotine if this is the case there are juices that have a 0 nicotine that you could use and for the most part all your going to get is flavored juice and a habit of hand to mouth like a smoker has.. I live in Utah so like you some things can't be gotten and my wife is in that same boat so I know exactly where your coming from & understand..

I myself can't say ya jump in with both feet and start vaping beings your not a smoker but if you did choose to do so I'd for sure use a 0 nic juice that way you don't get hooked on it..

if i can help ya with anything feel free to give me a shout...

Like some have mentioned, you can get 0mg nicotine. It looks like youre doing your homework and are aware of the dangers. I just wanted to add another caution here.

The hand to mouth that people have mentioned can lead to smoking analogs as well. Its nowhere near as strong as nicotine but you'd have half the habit already. In other words, a cigarette wouldnt feel all that foreign to you, especially if youre using cig-alikes.

If you do decide you want to give it a try, just be careful. You already have a HUGE jump on other people Ive seen in that you care enough to ask about the dangers and are researching the subject before hand.

this is very good advise & very true... I would never recommend vaping to anyone that was not a smoker but beings I see Laurix is looking for an alternative to other things I would agree be careful and do your homework on it.. if you do give it a go though I would not use anything but a 0 nic juice..

Thanks for the responses so far.

See, the reason why I'm so 50/50, though. Isn't THC to **** like Nicotine to cigs? Basically, the core component to relieving the stress/the stimulant?

I understand sometimes the act of smoking itself is the stress reliever, which is why Nicotine Patchs/Gum doesn't work for some, but for me in the past, it wasn't so much that. I actually never got into vaping with the illegal stuff, which is another reason why it interests me so much, just used glass (bowls, bongs, etc). But as I've said, even though I used it more for medical reasons than luxuries, the fact it's still not legal here just kills it.

I mean, I have family who still smokes cigarettes. My father does still, who admittedly has since a teenager, but he doesn't smoke an insane amount, just when having a beer/watching football, lol. Is nicotine addiction genetic, like alcohol addiction can be? Not trying to sound high-and-mighty, but if that's what it is going to take--to take the edge off --(which isn't like some daily thing I need; in the past when I 'smoked', I sometimes went weeks without doing it), I think I could handle it. It's more-less just fear of it becoming super-dependent. too much night-research, I guess. I mean, some article said the addiction is compatible to ...... and ...... Like, really?

Anyways, heading to bed. Thanks again for the responses, I'll read all additional advice/opinions when I'm up tomorrow!

I'll be honest I think my biggest addiction ow is buying new mods and toys..lol. on a serious note nic is addictive but I would not say it's anything near the other things you mentioned.. I have had family addicted to that stuff and it is nothing like it at all.. as with anything i think it all boils down to self control.. if you did want it as a stimulant then maybe try a low mg nic like a 6mg or 9mg what ever the lowest is you can find at the vendor you choose to buy from..

I think most vapers would agree we use the nic probably as much for the throat hit as the actual nic itself.. I find a 0 nic has 0 to very little throat hit but the flavor is still there..
