Hey there, just thought I'd get my first post in. I recently stumbled upon both the forum and GrimmGreen's youtube page for all of his reviews. I've been looking to get into PVs for a little while and tonight just realizing how overpriced and crap quality some common brand names are (was at the mall today, there was a vendor for Elight elite e-cigs charging $200 for a starter pack; afterwards I knew the sales guy was lying and the menthol tasted like crap.) so I'm looking to get into stuff a little bit more focused on what we really want.

so, I've heard very good things about the DSE901 and the 510, and was looking to get a true DSE901 for my first VP. Is this a good investment or should I try another type if I plan to only have only one PV for a long while? What things should I look for when buying myself?

mainly I'm gonna be looking Grimmgreen's vids and seeing what he has to say since he appears honest about being straight with unbiased (or close to. :p) opinions.

Thanks guys! hope to contribute sometime soon. :]

Both those PV are good ones, really the things to look for are whats included in the kit (you can buy as seperate bits if you prefer but often it works out more pricey, unless you buy direct from CHina, but then you're waiting a while). You also want to buy extra atty and battery (depeding how often you will use one, and if you buy a PT for home use you may not need more than the kit comes with - Id still get an extra atty though).
Buy juice - you dont need to buy a ton (theres some you will think 'tastes like crap' even if others like it -a very personal thing, taste ) - and you don't need to buy huge bottles but you do need to buy some. Don't get caught without juice, even if you buy carts prefilled with juice you're going to need extra.
510 tend to have heavier TH than a 901 (I have both btw) but they seem to me at least to be very close to each other on taste delivery and vapor. The 510 runs hotter than the 901, only relevant with lighter flavor which the 901 does better on imo.

I have a chuck and use both the 801 and 501 attys. You can get adapters. I like the 801 sometimes because it is a longer atty and cartridge which gives a smooth vape. The 501 is better for dripping the juice right onto the attomizer. I´m going to switch over to the 501 permanently I think.

I haven´t smoked tobacco in 2 1/2 months. I recommend getting 501 attys and cartridges. Seems like the 501 has more readily available equipment. Get a chuck. what a machine. buy some regular 501 manual batteries for going mobile and keeping the hands occupied. I have spent a bunch of money and finally all I need to vape is a chuck, 501 manual batteries and a bunch of 501 attys.

I think the one thing you need to buy frequently are attys. As I vape, I am contantly changing the atts when the one I am using gets hot. Keep in mind, I spent 5 dollars for 3 packs of cigarettes a day. I have no problem justifying buying 10 attys at a time. Not to sound like I am making a sales pitch, cause I´m not, but I like Madvapes now for my supplies. Seems like they have the best stock and price. I have only used awesomevapor eliquids so far though I am awaiting an order of liquid from vaporbomb and look forward to trying them.

All I know is that if I am able to produce constant, satisfying vapor all day long, I won´t smoke Marlboro reds. Good Luck!

Question is - are you into doing the filling and all at this point?

Being a newbie myself, I went for the KR808D-1 - got the starter kit from AnalogAlternative for 34.95, which included a/c & USB charger, 2 batts, and 5 cartomizers. I didn't want to deal with doing any filling for now. (They shipped quickly, too.)

GrimmGreen rates the 808 in his top 4, and says it's the one he uses most frequently - and takes with him the most as well.

Best of luck with whichever you choose!

madvapes.com will get you an inexpensive DSE901 2 atty 2 battery manual starter kit (means charger +blank cartridges) for $30. I'd suggest a 3rd battery and 2 or 3 flavors of eliquid, 10ml each.

Great, thanks!

Honestly, filling myself wouldn't be an issue. I'm actually looking forward to having myself making (custom or pre-made) drips and filling and whatnot. I'll graze over the DSE901, 510, and 808 and see which one I like best. If GG really advocates the 808, then I just might pick that up for my first one.

Thanks for the help guys!

I think the 901 and the 510 are both good e cigs to start out with. You may want to take a look at the ego as well, its one of the nicer pvs to start out on imo.

I think the eGo will keep you happy longer just because of the excellent battery life. Another nice thing about the eGo is that you can use a lr atty, with the stock 510 or 901 that isn't an option.

If you are looking to only buy 1 device and keep it for a long time (say 6 months or a year) you may want to look at a mod. Something that can do 3.7v and 6v depending on the batteries you use in it.

In my first 3 months of vaping i bought 2 510 kits, an eGo kit, a vp pt, then finally a silver bullet. If I had to do it all over again with the intent to only buy 1 device I would go with the silver bullet hands down.

So basically if you want a good starter e cig that you won't "outgrow" for awhile I would say the eGo or something like the silver bullet or the chuck (using 3.7v batteries to start out with).

Happy Vaping!

Now that I'm learning people refill cartomizers many times til they throw them out, I think I'm going to try the KR808D-1 as my first vaporizer. gives me the option of switching out flavors, and not worry about attys breaking. I'm predicting I'll get a larger e-cig a long time from now (maybe SD, Prodigy or Protege) but the Nebula seems like the best option for me right now. :)

Generally I don't recommend things to new users until I learn what they are looking for.
But I just realized I am very comfortable in recommending ALL new users get a 510 to start with.

There is no reason in the world not to get a 510 to start out with.

If you wind up feeling that cartridges are a pain, the 510 now has cartomizers.
If you wind up needing longer battery life, the 510 has megabatteries and PCCs.
If you wind up needing bigger cartridges, the 510 has megacartridges.
If you wind up wanting a high voltage experience, they now have low resistance atomizers.
If you wind up wanting a gentler experience, they have 510 atomizers with higher resistance.

If you wind up wanting to move to a bigger battery, you can just buy the eGo/Tornado battery.
If you wind up wanting even bigger batteries, then you can finally get a mod.
:)

Hey brian, why do you think you can't use a LR (low resistance) atty with a stock 510 or 901? An eGo IS a 510, just with a bigger battery.
Now, a stock battery won't drive a HIGH resistance atty 'cause they only put like 3 to 3.2 volts but I don't think that there's a problem with them driving a LR atty.

I agree, LR 510 Attys work GREAT on stock 510 batts. or mega 510 batts. Been using that combo for a week now.

That pretty much sums it up in totality. :2cool:

I think a battery with a 440 mah rating or greater is recommended when using lr attys. The ego is rated at 651 mah and I'm thinking the standard 510 is 200 mah or so.

The lr attys may work on the standard battery but it will make the battery life worste than it is already and stress the battery and shorten its life.
