New Member Needs Help

Hello folks,
just signed up as a new member after much lurking and reading. Thanks to all for providing a 1 stop resource for all things vape. I have made the decision to put the smokes down for good and will be purchasing my first starter kit tommorow. The problem I have is likely similiar to most first timers in that the sheer volume of information on this site is overwhelming and I am having great difficulty selecting a style and model. If I may ask, can a few veterans chime in and offer some suggestions. Here are a few of my prime considerations:

1.Reliabilty and availability of replacement parts.
2.Ease of use until I become familiar with the ins and outs.
3.Prefer pre-loaded cartomizers
4.Manufactuer history ie; will be around for the long haul

Beyond that I am open to style and color etc... In addition, I would like to establish a long term relationship with a single supplier so any input as to who will be around in a few years and stands behind their products would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your replies and I look forward to contributing to the forum.

Hey there and welcome to the forum. Congrats on your decison to a healthier lifestyle. You are wise to do your research and not waste a bunch of money. I decided the best choice was between a Tornado and an Ego. Both are 510's with better (much better) battery life. I picked a Tornado because the starter kit came with more and the company Totally Wicked is in Florida as am I. Although I understand that the Ego comes with a better warranty. Buying a better product will help you to be successful. Good luck!!!

I also went with a Tornado, because they were in stock and Janty ego's were not, and the starter kit has 2 attys and the slower charger + adapter I wanted. It's a 510 atomizer kit so is probably the most compatible, future proof model with the best(?) battery on the market outside custom mods.

There are cartomizers for the 510, though I have not tried them so don't know how economical they are, etc. If you are sure you want to go that route though, then how many attys come with the kit would be irrelevant I suppose. In that case, you may want to forgo the kit altogether and just order a couple batteries, charger and some cartos.

OK, I just got my kit this week so I'm no expert and certainly a noob at all this but the 510 model or versions of it is the way to go.
Most will agree with that.
I would also agree with what scoss1 said.
The standard 510 has a crappy battery life.

What you MUST do is get a few sample bottles of juice (liquid) as you want a flavor that is going to suit your tastes.
I got the standard tobacco flavor with my order and hate the taste!
Once you find the best flavor it's a lot easier.

I was a heavy smoker and this product is simply amazing!
It will save my life and probably yours too

Oh, if you spend a lot of time at the computer get yourself a passthrough!!

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

I would definitely recommend the Ego as well. It has a 8-10 hour battery life and all of it's hardware is a 510 model. I love mine! If you don't want to jump in with both feet at the start, I'd suggest any 510 starter kit. A good place for them is cignot.com

That being said, the Ego is NOT a 2 piece unit, it's a 3 piece with battery, atomizer and cartridge. I know that I prefer the 3 piece units, you can see what you're doing when you go to refill, (and you will!), it only takes a few seconds to do so, there's the issue with the filling in cartomizers burning and, when you 1st start off, you may not be able to determine that point strictly by change of taste! And, PERSONALLY, I've yet to have a pre-filled cart with a flavor I like.

But, if you DO want a 2 piece unit, I'd suggest V4L, they're certainly not going anywhere and they have some nice looking kits.

Congratulations and Welcome!

I suggest buying a big (long life battery) mod of your choice; you will properly end up getting one eventually anyway if you take to vaping. The short battery life of typical Mall E Cigarettes just adds frustration when you are learning to vape. Whichever atomizer/cartomizer type you start with can be used with practically any mod as adapters are widely available and cheap. I'm using 901 and 510 atomizers on my Screwdriver MKII as an example. Pre-filled cartridges are ok to start with; I enjoy mixing my own liquids and take the savings to the bank!

Welcome fellow vaper and best of luck on this journey.

I completely agree with the above choice. I went the standard 510 route and got the Tornado as my first upgrade.....and what an upgrade it was. As a working person, the greatly increased battery life of the Tornado allowed me to get through a 10 hour period away from home with just 1 spare battery. With the standard 510 batteries a PCC and at least a couple extras were needed to be safe (I never used analogs for a backup but I do vape a LOT).

If you aren"t gonna be away from a charging source for long periods, or if starting at the lowest price point is a necessity, then the 510 is great economical option. Having a 510 also offers the ability to upgrade if you desire while using many of the same parts you already have.

The new cartomizers for the 510 are wonderful. These allow for long periods of hassle free vaping. Also a prime consideration for a new vaper IMHO, is that cartomizers allow a very easy way to switch flavors without flavor corruption and/or having to clean out the atomizer. The 510 cartomizers will work equally as well if not better with the Tornado.

Get something....easy to adjust on the fly.....remember you didn't buy all the cigarettes you were ever going to smoke at once...you CAN get a different brand next pack.

Get going....take the first steps.....you won"t regret it

Also, don't even try to get something tobacco flavoured at first - most people I find suffer that as their biggest dissapointment. Just go with a flavor that you normally like, and think of it like a different smoking experience. Like a hookah or cloves. Not cigarettes, but equally meritable.

However, unless you are not worried about price you will end up refilling and once you do it's just as easy to use a 510 and the 510 puts out more vapor. Plus the eGo has a much better battery life.

I've used many many 510's, Joye and not so Joye.....like generic vs. branded anything else mostly....remember all the parts are disposables anyway....so sometimes that super deal on attys that last 6 weeks instead of 8 really is worth it. Sorry Lisbeth gonna have to respectfully disagree. I was one of the very fortunate who laid down the analogs forever and completely 2 hours after getting my first 510. I attribute that to many things (including ECF), but one that was very very influential I believe, was the fact that the Dekang Turkish Tobacco I ordered with my first kit tasted to my horribly abused (from smoking) tastebuds, exactly like my beloved Camel Lights.

Lisbeth is right in that the search for that elusive burnt paper taste is hard to replicate j/k.........anyway, I have moved on from tobacco flavors to nasty stuff like butterscotch and vanilla custard......but I digress....

My point being, if all our journeys take the exact same path, we'll all end up at the same place. And I dont't have room for all ya'll at my house (OR enough places for your battery chargers!)
