I am brand new to vaping, just quit smoking analogs and got my itaste mvp with an iclear 30 in the mail today. I decided to go with something more advanced rather than starting with cartridges and working my way up, but there are a few questions I do have.

I have done some research online as to the different delivery systems (atomizers, clearomizers, cartomizers) and I pretty much understand them. As for now I am keeping it simple and sticking with the iclear 30 clearomizer that I have. I know how to fill it (making sure not to get juice in the center), but there are a couple questions I have about it.

1. I have read not to fill this iclear 30 above the 2.5 ml mark because it can leak and cause gurgling. If that is the case, should I avoid tipping this thing sideways or upside down? I have heard you sometimes need to tilt it to moisten the wicks, so I just don't want to flood it by doing something I shouldn't.

2. About how long do these atomizer heads last before they need to be replaced, and does cleaning them make them last longer?

3. And lastly, in the case I need to replace the atomizer head or clean it, what do I do if the tank still has a decent amount of juice left in the tank? Do most people simply dump it, transfer it to something else, or vape it all before changing the head or cleaning it?

I understand these questions are probably no brainers, but I have jumped head first into all of this and just want to ensure my first vaping device doesn't encounter any problems due to my inexperience. I appreciate any input you all have.

I'm still a noob, but from my understanding:

1) If everything is installed properly, you should see leaks. I haven't tried the iclear 30 but I would assume its designed so you can tilt/etc with no worries as long as everything is intact correctly. I do not know about fill amounts sorry :/
2) It is recommended to do regular cleaning of your attys. Youtube has plenty of instructional vids on different methods. It is said to increase the longevity. I've had my atty going for a week now and its still strong. I haven't cleaned it yet but its probably about time.
3) You should be able to siphon the juice out if there is any leftover. I use the dropper that is on my juice bottle and just put it back in the respective flavor bottle :)

Hope that helps!

Also, welcome to vaping :)

1. filling above the line causes the wick holes to be constantly submerged raising the chance for flooding over time but tilting is fine.

2 the amount of time before the head needs cleaning or how long they will last will depend on the juice being used sweeter juices, tobaccos (NET) and heavy VG will shorten the overall time of the head as the thicker or sweeter juices cook more junk onto the wires faster. I do not know if you can dry burn those heads but many soak the heads in alcohol like vodka or pga (higher proof the better) and rinse them out occasionally. and if you can then do a dry burn.

3 i personally wouldnt save used, contaminated juice, but i make my own so dumping a couple ml's is a few cents for me. if your ok with it go for it.

Welcome to ECF. Congratulations on your MVP and iclear30.

Number 1. You need backups. If you do not have a backup battery I suggest you order one now so you have something to vape while your MVP charges. I suggest the vision spinner, cheaper but still has the vv and you can use your iclear30 on it.

2. Do not over fill or get juice in the center hole. Do not vape it dry. You will need to keep the wicks wet so tilting and twirling is a good thing to prevent dry hits.

3. Cleanliness helps insure a good vape. Some people will top off their juice when the tank gets low. This if fine but you need to clean the topper every 2 to 3 fills, some people do it every fill if they are using real dark, sweet or tobacco juices, or if they are switching to another flavor.

4. To clean, empty tank. Do not put juice back in original bottle. If you want to try to save it, put it in a separate empty bottle. If you were getting burnt taste, the juice could be burnt and never taste good again. Just saying you don't want to ruin a whole bottle of juice for a ml of bad stuff.

5. Rinse heads and wicks and tank under hot running water. Soak heads in 100 proof vodka for an hour or longer and then rinse again. Let dry. Then you can reuse. There are plenty of youtube videos that will show you what to do for your particular topper.

6. You need at least 3 toppers and multiple heads for each one. Remember, backups are your friend.

7. Clean your battery connector and the connector of your topper every time you switch toppers or charge the battery. I use a qtip with a little alcohol on it and swab it. Keeps it clean for a good connection. Don't need pressure here, just swab it to clean off any juice.

Get an extra charger and wall wart. These also go bad sometimes.

You are off to a good start. Go do some reading and watch some youtube videos. And start your search for your all day vape juice.

You can generally tell when a wick is needing attention. The quality and quantity of you vape starts to drop of, sometimes experiencing a dry hit, these are all signs that it's time to clean or replace coil heads. Rinsing out your tank every other fill will help extend coil life too. Once you become more familiar with your gear and your style of vaping, you will know that after this tank I need to clean re-wick or replace the coil build.

One should be able to get 2 weeks or so off a coil head before needing service. I use rba's, so I make my own builds and use cotton for wicks. When my builds need tending I usually just pull the wicks out, dry burn the coil, to get rid of any gunk build up, then re-wick, saturate the wick, test vape, then assemble and fill, and I'm good for a week. Once my coils no longer perform up to standard, or build up to much resistance that limits my watt output, I wrap a new coil, and start all over.

The only dumb question is the one not asked.

The advice above is good so I won't repeat it all.

Get a backup battery like an iTaste VV version 3 or a Kgo VV, is my 2 cents.

Thank you all for your responses. They were much help.

I didn't really bother to get another battery right away because I know how long the battery lasts in this MVP, but I will probably get a smaller battery for when I am not at home.

I also purchased some extra atomizer heads for my iclear, and I have watched some videos on how to clean it (like you all described, rinse in hot water, soak in alcohol), but about how many times can you wash it and reuse it? I know you guys explained the symptoms whenever the atomizer needs to be cleaned after refilling a couple times, but how will I know that the atomizer has reached its full usage after cleaning it a couple times? I just want to get the most life out of each one if possible.

Thanks again for all the help, I'm looking around at different tanks and juices to start adding to this collection and your input goes a long way.

After a fresh cleaning, the juice will still have a burnt taste and/or a metallic taste (dry fire). The wicks in the iClear 30 heads act like sponges. They absorb the juice and draw it towards the coil. Over time and use the wicks lose this ability and harden. From my experience, I've only gotten about 2-3 good uses after washing before I had to replace the atomizers completely.
