Hi all, first post here after lurking a while. I have some experience building coils and recently acquired a Kayfun Lite clone by Tobeco. I vaped it for two weeks on my Sigelei 20W with the high resistance premade silica wicked coils it came with at about 2.3 ohms. Pretty good stuff but didn't wick fast enough for my tastes. I had some kanthal at home but only 26 gauge. I made a couple of micro coils but the highest resistance I could manage and still keep the coil small enough for the Kayfun was about .73 ohms at about 12 turns on an eyeglass screwdriver. I have some 28 gauge kanthal on order but until it comes does anybody see issue with me vaping this on my Sigelei? I'm hitting at about 17W, cotton wick, huge flavor, nice clouds. I plan on building to about 1.2 ohm as soon as my 28 gauge arrives in a couple of days. Will my insulators survive until then? The Kayfun gets a bit warm if I chain vape but nothing crazy. Any thoughts appreciated here. Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure how low you can go in a Kayfun before you melt the insulator. It's common knowledge to use the Kayfun between 1.0 - 2.0 ohms, which is its sweet spot.

I'm currently using a 1.3 - 1.5 ohm microcoil in my KFL+ using organic cotton. I'm currently using a little less cotton than is shown in the below pics.

I use .7 to .8 in Kayfuns regularly without melting the insulator. .6ohm is where it becomes a little too hot on a mech and I've had to replace the insulator after it melted. When I rebuild next I might try to hit more around .9 thought .8 seems to be my preference for going between mechs and vv mods.

I should meantion I use twisted 28 micro coil.

My goto Kayfun build is 28 guage with 7 wraps around a 5/64 drill bit and runs at 1.2 ohms about every time.

Now I switched to cellucotton and enjoying the KFL more now.
Exact same build 7 wraps 5/64 bit 1.1-1.2ohms Everytime it is my sweet spot for Kayfun! I did run .8 ohm coil once for about a week and did not melt the insulator. It was to "hot" for me but again did not melt insulator.
