Hello all - new member here from Southern California. My wife and I just started vaping and so far are really enjoying it. We were occasional cigarette smokers and find this is much cleaner and more fun given the different favors.

We started at a really great local shop and each picked up a large vision spinner 2 and a kanger genitank mini. The combination seems to work well from our limited experience point of view.

So now for my questions.

What is a good way of carrying my setup in my laptop bag? I'd prefer some sort of case for protection.

How many different tanks do people generally use? It seems like a nuisance to clean them out all the time to switch flavors.

So far, the mini tanks last us all day (or more). Are there other similarly sized tanks that are better or offer a different experience?

Thanks for any help! This can be very overwhelming at first!

Hi, Elyptic, Welcome to ECF! Glad to hear that you and your wife are enjoying vaping!

There are many different types of cases out there that people use. For your setup a clamshell eyeglass case might work well (the mod+top might be a bit too long for it though; not sure what you mean by "Large vision spinner..." since some are a lot longer than others.)

I tend to use a larger number of small cheap tanks since I like to swap flavors a lot. I usually just throw them and my MVP right into the laptop bag (have a front-pocket that holds them, plus a few thumb drives, SD cards, and the other small junk you wind up carrying around. Or just stick it in my pocket (not a good option for your setup since you're likely to break the top off your spinner).

Get an old glasses case to carry your tanks in, as for what tanks, I can't recommend the aspire nautilus mini enough, get one for your favourite adv, and if your like me and have a few flavours on the go I'd recommend the aspire et-s tanks, you can get three for the price of a nautilus and with the bvc coils they are as near to the nautilus as your going to get!

Ps I don't work for aspire lol, but I have 2 nauty's and a few et-s tanks, they work nicely with a spinner with the 1.8ohm coils (that's what I was using till I got my mvp2)

Most people find a case that can comfortably hold their mod WITH the head on. It gets to be too much of a pain taking the head off and putting it back on every time you want a vape.

But like I said, there's all kinds of cases. For example, I got this one:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Vaultz-Locking-Medicine-Case/28904365

It's great for hauling around vaping gear, except that it's very large (and hard) so it's way overkill for what you have.

A lot of folks have found small toolkits in a soft pouch (with lots of elastic straps) that might be better. Something like this:

Belkin

This type is great, the straps will hold batteries, mods, heads, etc. This one in particular might be a little large, but there's all kinds of these around.

Also, check out cosmetic carrying cases (although these tend to be expensive, not to mention a bit on the girly side)

I like to use my ego case, I pack an ego, vv and 2-3 2ml tanks along with a usb charger for the vv. It's a standard ego starter kit style case, a little bigger than a glasses case and have room to spare. They are sold all over can come in many colors and cost about $5.

As far as tanks I am fond of the aspire coils as well and own ET-S(2ml), CE-5(1.5ml), and nautilus tanks(2-5ml). I have an IClear 16b (dual bottom coil 2ml) that came with my mvp that I like enough to consider getting another.

There are many tanks out there some generally liked by many others generally not liked and some liked by very few and disliked by very few in other words personal preference comes into it.

Kanger tanks are popular as are aspire tanks. People may have a few tanks and swap them around or just wash them out after use. Others use dripping tanks.
Some flavours seem to remain behind stronger than others as some prebuilt coils i suspect hang on to flavours longer. Some soak the coils then dry burn them.
Perhaps carry around some spare coils then just rinse the tank out and swap coils when you change flavours.

Thanks again everyone for the help! Great case options. I was also wondering if a pencil / pen case would work and it seems that some have successfully used them.

I'm conflicted about the tanks and coils. I really would prefer to have compatible coils so I can just carry one type of spare. But the kanger I have seems to be a relatively expensive tank. Do some of the less expensive kanger tanks use the same coil as the genitank mini? And will they work as well? I can see wanting at least 2-3 tanks so I can just swap them for different flavors throughout the day.

Which brings me to the next question. What is a good spare battery that is compatible and what are some good portable bottles to care spare juice in? Most of the droppers I've seen seem like they'd be very hard to use with my mini without getting juice down the center tube.

So many questions! Thanks again for the warm welcome!

So I assume the aspire coils are not compatible with my kanger tank. I've heard a lot of good things about the Nautilus tanks here. They seem highly regarded. I wonder if I'm better off switching to those tanks... Are they cheaper than the kanger?

Some coils are not compatible with some tanks made by the same company.
So check first or ask around.
Someone will mention an istick as a good small size mod so I'll do that first.
nautilus tanks are good the mini holds around 2.5ml I think bvc's are the ones to get for that - bottom vertical coils.
They are not compatible with say the aspire ce5 clearomisers. Im not familiar with what kanger coils are compatible with other kanger tanks.

Nautilus mini is around $25-30 the bvc's around $11-15. for 5 pk look around prices can vary sometimes a lot.

I use a waterproof Plano "Stowaway" in my backpack. The internal sections are big enough to hold a few mods and atomizers, some spare stuff, a few simple tools, and a little e-liquid.

How many different tanks do people generally use? It seems like a nuisance to clean them out all the time to switch flavors.

I normally have three to five "in service" and am usually switching gear out a few times a week.

So far, the mini tanks last us all day (or more). Are there other similarly sized tanks that are better or offer a different experience?
It really depends what you're looking for. Rebuildables are my favorite "group", but there are some really good factory tanks out there. Right now I'd say Kanger and Aspire make the ones I enjoy the most.

Thanks for any help! This can be very overwhelming at first!

Yes, it can be, but that doesn't mean it can't be fun, too!

I'll have to check out the plano!

And yes, we're having a ton of fun!

I actually bought a few different sizes of those and took back the ones that didn't fit my style. They come in six different sizes and configurations IIRC and they're all about $10 or less.
