hello all, i wouldve put this in the rda forum but i just realized im not allowed to until 5 posts

I have a clt v2 plus rda that i LOVE! its perfect for me

i just ordered a smpl mod that should be coming in the next few weeks and i just realized, my rda might not work on a hybrid, straight to battery connection.

the clt has an adjustable center pin that i can screw out but it also loosens the center block post on the deck, so once i put the mech mod on it just pushes the center pin (and the center block respectively) so that the center pin is flush with the 510 sleeve so it may cause my battery to short.

does any one know a work around for this?

like a way to permanently fix the center block to the deck, or some where to find a center pin with a longer head so i can use it on my hybrid mod?

The 510 is not adjustable so not good unless when tightened it sticks out from the outer casing.

Could see if an o-ring will help.
Having used smpl mod though I would use attys that 510 stuck out and stayed out.

I have used a tube of quick fix , or supa glue something like that to stick a 510 centre to a deck.
Not for use on smpl but the 510 itself would come out too easily.

well i imagine if the center block was glued in place then the 510 pin wouldnt really move all that much. Have you tried this on the clt v2? also what do you mean "could see if o ring will help"?

Thanks for all the responses. I won't try to rig anything and end up blowing this guy up.

Well what's a good cheap rda clone that would work on a hybrid? Hopefully I won't have to spend too much more since I just bought the smpl. I looked on fast tech and it looks like most of them have fixed center pins or an adjustable center block like mine

Hi and welcome!
My two mechs also have the hybrid top cap.. That said I only use RDA's that have a protruding pin to be absolutely safe...Two of my favorites are the Dark Horse and Doge...both have protruding pins, big post holes with great airflow..very easy to build too, both seen on the left in this pic..
Be safe!

I have both an authentic CLT V2 and SMPL. I bought the setup together to work with one another and have absolutely no issues, so you should be okay. Keep in mind if what you are getting are clones that are not 1:1, this may not be the case so please be careful when setting up your rig. As far as batteries that I have used in this setup goes I have been able to use both nipple and flat top. I have mainly VTC4s and 5s, but during the shortage acquired quite a few Samsungs 25rs and LG HE2/4s and had no issues either in my CLT/SMPL mod.

Yeah I'm just wayyyyy too broke to buy authentic gear. I have efest 35 amp batts and they work well I just want to know if anyone has bought a cheaper clone rda that can vouch that it has a protruding center pin and will work on a hybrid. There's doge clones and dark horse clones on Amazon but it's hard to tell from the pic if the center pin will work or not

Sometimesyoudie, not telling you to go out and buy authentics just sharing with you that you may not have a problem with what you have on order. I have also used the purple Efests in that rig too and it worked fine (no shorting just don't build too low, remember 20amps continuous).

Good luck hope everything works together and you don't have to buy other gear. Stay safe and don't rig anything to work, it's not worth the risk.

You could try putting an o-ring or two just beneath the head of the center pin to insulate/hold out from the outer part of the 510 connector. This might let you tighten down on the screw and still not make contact with the negative side. No offense, but I think I'd look for an atty with a clearly protruding center pin, or one reading "adjustable" center pin.

Yeah I'm in the market for one now, for the record my clay read "adjustable" but what they really meant is you can unscrew it but it'll be useless otherwise.

What do yall think of this puppy Amazon.com : Doge V2 Style Competition RDA " Black" : Everything Else

It looks like the pin is protruding

It surely does look like the pin sticks out. I won't comment on the atty, I'm not a dripper guy. Perhaps somebody else can help with that. Just a suggestion, but this might be a good time to visit the local vape shop and cast your eye upon the drippers they offer. If you took a screwdriver with you, you could test it. Then either pay their markup as thank you, or write down the type and order it online to save the bucks :)
