Hi all, been reading post here for a couple of weeks now and it looks like a nice place to hang my hat and make some knew friends!

The bad news is I'm a very heavy smoker and have been for more then fifty years. Sad to say I've been smoking between 5 and 6 packs a day for longer then I care to remember. I wake up from a dead sleep just to have a smoke, been doing that for years.

I started smoking when I was 9 years old but even at that age I can't say I didn't know any better because I did. I knew it wasn't good for me and everyone told me it could kill me but I looked so cool with that cigarette hanging out my mouth that it was well worth the risk.

But there is a brite side to this post! I'm happy to say after reading post here for a week I bought my first e-cig and I wanted to say thanks to everyone here for all your input. I'm now a happy owner of a Joye 510 and have had only 5 real cigs in a week and none for 48 hours now! I can't even begin to tell you how good that makes me feel. So thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

wow that's really ???impressive??? i can't imagine smoking that much and i considered myself a pretty heavy smoker. give it about another week or so with no analogs and u will be amazed at the difference in the way u feel and the way things taste and smell. i don't even know u but i am really proud of u. kicking that kind of addiction, must take some tremendous willpower. keep up the good work. enjoy the monster clouds of heavenly vapor.

Man I thought I smoked a lot! I would sometimes go 2+ packs a day, and don`t see how anyone could possible smoke that much, as it seems I always had on in my mouth.

To you though...just awesome! I`m happy for you, hope you are able to stay with it. It`s my 2nd day of vaping, and I have yet to have an analog today! Don`t think I will either.

This has got to be the best way to get off the cigs yet! I haven`t been a miserable SOB like I usually am even when I tried the patch.

Thanks everyone!

I think at least part of my problem is I hardly ever sleep and when I do it's not very long. I'm sure I never get more then 2 hours sleep a night and I've been that way just about all my life. I'm guessing if I could sleep a normal 6 to 8 hours a night I'd only be a 3 to 4 pack a day smoker, maybe even less.

You would think I've been having a bad time this last week or so but it's really not been that bad. I'm shocked and never would have thought I could have given them up so fast and easy. It's not been bad at all.

Two other times in my life I gave them up for 6 to 8 months and each time I remember how hard it was, I was climbing the walls, pulling my hair out and barking at the moon so needless to say I didn't give this much hope. But you guys seem to be so dang sure that others could do this that I just had to try it and you were right, it really works!

The only thing that scares me is that old saying " if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is " I just hope for once that old saying is wrong I can stay off those cancer sticks for good.

Thanks for all the welcomes, it's appreciated!

debbir, I'm from Fairview which is only about 45 miles from Ossineke. And yes, the new smoking ban did upset me but we all knew it was coming. But for me more then anything it was the money, I could buy a new car and still have money left over if I could get off cigarettes for good. Plus I know it's only a matter of time before they kill me.

Thanks again!

Wood, I have been trying to quit for years because of the money. I met my mother in law with her copd and lung cancer A nurse at my dr's office told me about ecigs, and it was a downhill slide, googling, and finding this site from there. I am glad I did not go with where she told me to get it because it was a smoke everywhere, and I have heard some bad things about them.

Congrats Woodchucker.. I think you'll find it's quite easy to not look back at the analogs... I've been vaping since January and I took a road trip on my motorcycle over memorial weekend and neglected to charge my batteries (and my charging case) one night. So the next day when the last one went dead, I broke down and lit up analog.. I couldn't even finish it. It was nasty. I found a place to charge my batteries and just stayed did without until the battery was ready... a regular cigarette just doesn't satisfy now...
