New Member Seeking Help!!

hi all,

seen some really useful stuff on here so thought I'd sign up for the long run.

I'm massively new to RDA set ups (got my first dripper on Wednesday 29th).

Problem is.....I decided to take out the coils and wicking that the shop set up for me so that I could take a shot and learn how to set it up. After my attempt, I am getting NO flavour at all! Decent vapour output but NO flavour!

My set up is a smok M80plus with an Infinite V3 RDA up top. running 24awg wiring and cotton for wicking.
output for the dual coils I've built have been in the region of 0.28-0.32ohm and vaping at 30-40watts.

The taste was incredible when I left the shop after they ran through a set up for me, I 'm obviously just a total beginner to how to build myself.

Any help would be awesome...and I can upload pics of my set up on request

Too thick wick. That's the most common cause of low flavour. Check some wicking videos and you'll see that you need enough wick to easily slide through the coil with minor resistance.

Too much wick like Psofos said, also it could be the type of cotton you are using. Make sure you are using quality organic cotton. Ask the guys at your local shop what they are using, and where to get it. Japanese organic cotton can be sourced from Amazon as well, and makes for great flavor! Good luck!

I think psohos is right and when getting started with rdas try a simple single coil build and get down the wrapping and the wicking then when you find your sweet spot jump up to dual coils.

I've been rebuilding for over a year now. I also suspect its a wicking issue. There's a variety of wicking options available:

Silica string
Organic cotton
Ko Gen Do (Japanese cotton) *
Cotton Bacon *
Rayon (cellucotton or artificial cotton)
Hemp

* Everyone will have their own preferences. I happen to like the Ko Gen Do and Cotton Bacon the best for flavor and wicking efficiency; Rayon comes in a distant second. Silica IMO is not a good flavor carrier (its what most clearomizers use). Organic cotton does not wick as well as the other cottons and often has that "new cotton" taste when first used. And as the others have already said, where wicking is concerned, "Less is more".

Could also be your coil placement. Are they in front of the airholes? Play with the height of your coils. In front of or above the air holes will be your sweet spot.

You may not be running high enough wattage for that resistance. I tend to run 30-40W for a 0.5 ohm build, and sometimes more. Your lower resistance build needs more power. They are an inverse relationship, mathematically, so the lower the resistance, the higher the power.

Long story short - faulty battery was only firing at 2.1V

Changed battery and taste is unreal!

I'm definitely staying a member the support is incredible!
