My journey into personal vape devices
I am a cigar smoker. However, with a small kid at home, I've been looking into electronic equivalent so as to not be as smoky... I think I have the right info, but I'm a noob..

So I bought a mister fix mist kettle from my cigar lounge.. In the pic it's the skinny one with the clear top, and red base.. This is the intermediate sized one.. Holds about 2.4ml of fluid, and cost me about $40 bucks give or take... Its a good device, It process the juice very well, but doesn't have the same hit as a cigar ( hit as in smoke vs mist - not the levels of nicotine in the juice of which I have tired several at different levels of nicotine).. Its a good device, but if I had to be honest, it a a good cigarette replacement/alternative, but not up to the cigar level.

So, I decided to upgrade. I went to my local Brick and Mortar vape place (name redacted to be polite).. To see about how to do this... As vape devices for the most part are mix and match of a wide variety of different components. It's not easy to determine what you want from reading on the internet, so instead or ordering online, figured I'd see some experts.

My feelings about my local B/M place are mixed.. It's not a bad place, but it's not a great one either. To be honest each time I have been in, I am less and less impressed with their customer service... Its great if you're popping in to get the juice, of which they do have an awesome and vast selection. However, its a definite pain in the ... if you need some questions answered about equipment. In the two times I have been, the guy helping me, has basically put me on hold to run up sales or to answer someone else's quick question.. It's not like there aren't others to do this, but the emphasis is on the quick sales as if they are somehow losing sales by answering questions or something. It's annoying, and other than juice, i won't buy any more equipment from them in the future.

When I explained my issue with the mist fix kettle, they upsold me on a kanger protank 3, with a smoktech ego twist battery...

In my picture, the ego battery is the black one just to the left of the mist fix one with the red base.. However, the smoke colored tank isn't the kanger (more on this later), the kanger tank is off and is the one just to the left of the smoktech ego in black... Its off because I don't use it, on the two other tanks next to it, which are a kanger 2 (which has its tip off), and a smoktech trophy tank.. I'm not a fan of any of these tanks.. The k3 is or was new when I got it, it generated more vapor than the mist fix, which was good, but when it would heat up the liquid, there were two issues; when you inhaled the vapor you tasted the fluid, and it would leak. The k3 was a dual coil. Wondering if any of those changes might have been an issue, I got a k2 (and I think single coil, but the instructions had more variation of voltage) it leaked less, but still leaked, and while I got less fluid during the inhale, I got some, and I got less vapor. Which makes sense if its a single coil. Thinking maybe it was kanger vs smoktech, I picked up a smoketech tank, and it's about the same as the k2 (I got the smoktech trophy and k2 online for about 1/3 the cost, so it wasn't expensive, but it was annoying)..

I started looking at why I got fluid when I inhaled with this setup vs the mist fix.. The mist fix is a single coil, and has a smaller battery, but a smaller tank. However, if you look at its tank, it has wicks inside the tank that run up and inside it near where the coils would be.. I guess soaking the wicks and running them in the tank to the coils at the bottom created a better way of heating the fluid. If you look the k2-3 and smoktech trophy -via the links, no wicks, so the fluid is heated at the bottom where the coils and fluid intake...

So I went back to the B/M looking for a better tank, something with a wick system like the mist fix but for the smoktech ego.. I was told they didn't have one (not that one didn't exist). So, I went with a whole new system, a dripper/atomizer. Instead to using a batter that gets recharged via usb/phone charger it uses a battery but it's a drag to always have to refill... As a cigar smoker, I prefer longer smoke periods...

Around the same time I got the dripper, I won an serious low bid on the innokin svd express kit, ...in the pic it's all the way to the right. I figured I would try my cartomizer tanks with it hoping the battery with more power would make a difference.. The k2 and smoktech didn't leak, but I could still taste fluid.. I started looking for a a better tank, and ran across a review for the innokin iclear30s.. Its the same size as the others (st trophy, k2&3) but unlike them, it had a wick and the coil runs thru the center of the tank.... This tank is freaking amazing. It got rid of the fluid draw issue and on my svd it creates almost as much mist as my dripper. For ....s and grins, i put it on my ST ego battery and it doesn't leak and generates about the same mist as my svd. I suspect the battery will not last for days , but in fairness I didn't use it in favor of the svd..

so, I'm looking to see what/where I can go from here...

hi...

Jason
