New Member/Vaper Help Needed

I finally made the switch to vaping about 2 weeks ago. Started out with the Smok Stik AIO but have outgrown it quickly. The 2 ML tank just does not last long enough for me during the day if I am off. It is a great at work stick where I am limited in time though. A friend suggested the Smok Stik TFV8 but I have seen a lot of negatives about leakage on the Baby Beast and the Big Baby. Now the X-Baby is out with a top airflow but 1 less ml capacity and seems it may be worth it. Are all of these Smok tanks compatible with Smok kit 3000 mah battery? I have also heard the coil life sucks and I will be putting a coil in every 2-3 days which is not a financially viable solution. I was also told to get a box mod with a crown 3, but am worried about the batteries and all that since I am new. Don't want to burn the house down. So I guess what I need from you guys is advice on what to do. I need something that will last all day, (4-5 ml tank and strong battery) with a coil life that will not need replaced so quickly. I go through about 30-40ml of juice in a week to week and a half. Thanks

Stay away from a big honking box mod with a ginormous tank designed for blowing clouds the size of a Class V hurricane. Two weeks in = too much mod.

The Smok TFV series of tanks can be finicky and fussy and also more than you might want to deal with.

A Pico 75, Pico 25, JoyeTech Evic, Sinuous P80, or something along those lines may be more up your alley. Those are versatile, reliable and plenty powerful for newcomers.

Folks like pushing dual or triple battery mods with rebuildable atomizers in huge tanks, not realizing that most newcomers just want to quit smoking cigarettes without a lot of fuss and mess.

2-3 days is financially viable for most smokers. $15 for 5 coils. $3 per coil.

$1.00 - $1.50 a day.

The Smok stick TFV8 was the juice vendors 'trial' device at Vapefest UK (this weekend)... very nice tube pen/mod.

Incidentally, a box mod with quality 18650s (with a Crown tank) is more reliable and certainly as safe if not safer than an integral battery tube.

I use Eleaf EC coils at $1 per coil. They last a week.
Cheaper than Smok. Not as high power, but compare the cost over a year...

If I want to vape at 80w or something, I use a RDA.

Welcome @Aaron Kappesser

I am not familiar with your current gear, but wanted to comment on your concerns of the Baby and Big Baby tanks. I currently have and run 2 Baby and 3 Big Baby tanks and have not had any problems with leakage. That's not to say that none ever leak, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy another if the need arises.

A simple solution to not running out of juice in your tank is having more then one tank. I am a fan of switching up flavors several times each day, so works well for that also.

Welcome and glad you joined.
You are in the advanced sub ohm category of vaping, and I can not help you there.

Hi Aaron & welcome
Well the most cost effective answer is to buy a small plastic 30 ml bottle and carry it with you for refills.

The beast tanks only leak when not set up properly. They don't have an inherent design problem which causes them to leak. I have 3 and none of them leak, and they are all on RBA's now (which is the way around those high coil prices). Different juices and vaping styles will gum up a coil quicker than others but changing out a V8 coil every 2-3 days sounds a bit extreme to me. You should be able to get at least 1 to 2 weeks or more from them. Since your friend has one I'd suggest you give it a try and see if you like it or not.

Different tanks give different vapes and either you try out friend's tanks or you invest in them and hope you like them. They perform differently with different coil and wicking setups so until you gain experience in rebuilding you won't know if you've maxed their performance or not. Go with what you've tried and liked, what is most recommended, and what simply appeals to you. Then start saving for the next tank. :thumb:

I was thinking about getting the new Innokin Kroma-A. It would allow me to swap out tanks unlike the one I have now, maybe pair it with a crown 3. Then a gain a buddy just picked up the AL-85 which I may give a shot as well. Thanks for the advice

Good idea. Internal battery is a minus for me, but not for everyone.
I personally wouldn't buy a Smok mod. Google has too many hits for "AL85 problems"....
If you can afford to replace it sooner than some, go for it - it is beautiful. Early ones lost their paint, but I believe Smok fixed this.

Welcome to ecf ! :D
When i first started vaping i started with a nautilus 5ml tank for mtl inhales but seems you already have a smok stick which i assume does dtl inhales. I personally have a big baby beast and had 1 leak from it but that was my own fault 2 weeks in though not a single leak besides my own error once.
Coil life is always depending on multiple factors (how much you vape, how long you drag, wattage settings etc)
Still wouldn't advise to get older smok stuff but that's just me seems too many people have issues with their tanks and coils and i keep hearing about the bad life of em (fact is i received a doa coil in my BBB box).

Also what you vape. High VG and some flavors clogged the cotton faster especially custards and bakery and high sugar according to my B&B bake shop. I'm using the BBB w/T8 octuple and haven't had a coil fail yet in 7 weeks. I'm am running 3 GX2/'s simultaneously with barely sweet tobacco ejuices. I am also using the puff counter and boiling water cleaning coil every 2000 puffs on a coil. My old beat up COPD lungs avg 1.5sec puffs average 65w. For a short spell was getting into cloud chasing hanging out in local B&M hitting harder and longer but my lungs rebelled with asthma attacks so backed off. None of the coils have hit 10k puffs yet but figure if don't taste bad by then may replace preemptively. My first GX2/4 is ~6k puffs, newest 3k puffs. So those 35 T8 coils I purchased are likely going to last much longer than my original year guesstimate.:headbang:
