New Member with a problem with a Itaste MVP v2 - seems clogged when trying to get a hit

Hi everyone, what a wonderful place I have stumbled upon!

I do have a question if anyone has any ideas. When I first got my Itaste MVP it drew easily and created huge clouds of vapor. I noticed that it was getting harder to draw through, I changed the atty and it worked a little better, but the draw still seems clogged. I took off the Protank-II and tried sucking through that, no problem, but when I screw it back on to the body, I have to huff and puff and press the button up to 3 times to get a decent cloud of vape.

I have had this unit for about 2 months, and until recently I was very happy with it when it started to seem clogged, especially the battery run time.

I'd love to hear any suggestions from other Itaste owners. (or anyone who knows about them)

Thanks for having me in the community! I think I will learn a lot here.

My guess is from him saying he has had the unit for 2 months some folks don't know the coils don't last forever so hopefully is a simple fix like that. you can check the resistance through your device see if its still what's printed on the coil or if its higher, then that for sure is the issue.

That or his coil clogged quicker than others. Some juices do that for ya huh.

Try setting to constant wattage. Personally mine rarely leaves 6.0 watts though occasionally I'd raise to 6.5/7.0 on the PT if coils were starting to gunk.

However, most likely the problem is not your MVP -- but that your wick is clogged or your coils are gunked. Depending on what juice you vape, this can happen in as little as two days (though usually 2+ weeks). If you purchased replacement heads, now's the time to put one in (it's easy -- check youttube for instructions). If you haven't bought any, now is the time buy some (or plan to build your own coils). A five pack of Innokin replacement heads will run $5-15, depending on where you buy.

Other tricks I've found that seems to extend PT head life is a daily wash under running water to clean the wicks and also periodic replacement of flavor wicks (these are the wicks laying on top of the coil). And while you're doing all this, put a full charge on that MVP!

Hope this helps. Cheers!

Like I say, I have a protank-II screwed on top, though if I remove it and blow through it, it seems completely clear flowing. Being new and this being my first re-buildable ecig I'm afraid I don't know what kind if atomizer they gave me, they screw into the bottom of the Protank. I also don't know squat about replacing coils or wicks. I'll search all I can to find the answers, I'm sure they are here somewhere, or, as suggested, perhaps there is a video I can find to explain it to me. Worst case scenario, I'm going to take it back to the shop where I got it. All the employees seem to be using the same model, and I'll ask them.

Thanks for all the quick feedback!

I love Kangertech products, they're well made, elegant and technically brilliant, you just have to maintain them and they're prone to flooding in my opinion as are most bottom coilers.

I'm mainly using iClear 16 toppers these days because they're cheap and durable and I can carry a couple around with my vv3 with different flavours loaded but at home my MVP2 is pretty much permanently attached to my Kayfun Lite Plus clone :)

That doesn't really tell you Ryan. Coils get a gunk build up after some use which clogs them up. Its when you are trying to heat them to vaporize your ejuice that you will notice the clogged up effect. If you have not replaced your coils since you first started using the protank then they will be clogged up and that will effect your vapor.
Don't blame your MVP2 - its just the power supply.

Think of a heating element that over time gets dirty and has hard gunk crusted all over the elements. Its not going to be effective. Same thing is happening in miniature with your coil.

Ain't that the truth!

Because my all day vape (ADV) is based on coffee, I go through coils like crazy.

When I fell in lust with cinnamon roll with a twist of caramel and/or toasted marshmallow, it kinda messed with my head that the coil just kept going & going.

Btw, those premade coil/wicks from Fasttech are great! For 4-7 cents, I can toss new ones in my coffee tanks and not be overly cost-conscious to get another day out of a coil :D

Regular 1.8 Ω single wick
NR-R-NR 1.8Ω single wick

Close up on replacing coil on protank

Most likely your coils are gunk-ing up from the flavoring/and or sweetener in your e-liquid. I have had some Kanger coils last almost a month-others no longer than three days. It is subjected to the type of e-liquid I use. I am only speaking of my personal feelings/knowledge. I had a few coils last only a day because I was running WTA thru the coils.
Here is a start on rebuilding the coil. You can kinda look around for others to compare information. :)
Edit: added a different video
