Hi all, I decided to quit smoking two weeks ago, ok, my wife decided I should quit smoking.... Anyway, I was on the patch for about 10 days & while the cravings went away mostly I still missed the activity of smoking. After wrestling with the worry of is using an e-cig safe, will it cause me to go back to smoking even though my cravings are under control I decided to go to my local shop to see what they have. Long story short I ended up with the Ego One even though they felt I would be better off with VW mod & bigger tank, I didn't want to spend too much money hoping I will just use this on occasion for when I am really craving a smoke. I got some 6mg juice & now I am thinking another tank with a different juice on it would be nice so I can swap flavors or intensity as I desire. Does this make sense or am I just dealing with VAS?? I do like shiny things & have a tendency to enjoy tech gadgets!

I like the form factor of the Ego, its stealthy & seems to last a while on a charge.. Which tank should I go with? Perhaps one that can grow with me in the future? I am using the 1 ohm coil at the moment since I am a mouth to lung inhaler & pretty much wanted what an analog would be vs chasing clouds....

Hello and welcome to the forum @fishwater. Glad to have you here!:)

The Kanger subtank nano is pretty close in size (diameter) to the original eGo ONE. Here are the coils that are available for it.

Ignore the wattage #'s as you can't adjust with your mod.

Horizontal OCC Coils
0.5 Ω coils - 15 watts to 30 watts.
1.2 Ω coils - 12 watts to 25 watts.

Vertical OCC Coils
0.2Ω coils - ? watts to 80 watts
0.5Ω coils - 15 watts to 60 watts
1.2Ω coils - 10 watts to 26 watts
1.5Ω coils - 10 watts to 26 watts

Hi @fishwater and welcome to the forum. The Ego One is a nice starter unit. There are literally hundreds of options available.

For battery/mods you have 3 issues to decide. 1. internal battery, 2 replaceable batteries, 3.temperature control/variable voltage wattage. I would advise going with a temperature control unit, it's the next big thing in vape that has already arrived. What it does is allow you to vape without getting a dry hit as it shuts down the temp when it soars. I've heard this also helps batteries last longer.

A Kanger Subtank Mini is one of the most versatile tanks out. I am a mouth to lung vaper and use a few of them as it makes it easier to swap out flavors just by switching tanks. The first thing I did was replace the wide bore drip tip (mouthpiece) with a more restrictive one(standard 510 drip tip). Then I just don't vape on the wide open air flow. It also has the option to learn to build with the included build deck where you can make your own coils (it's easy), plus buy premade .5 and 1.5 vertical factory coils.

Deciding on a budget will help others advise on which gear to recommend. In the mean time you can look here :

DEALS and STEALS - https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/threads/deals-and-steals.418767/ (go to last couple pages)
FORUM SUPPLIERS - https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/suppliers/
COUPONS - http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/coupons/stores/

I would scroll back more than a few pages on the Deals thread, to see what kind of offers were given over the last holiday. It might give you an idea of what you'll want to spend.

You should also scroll to the top of this page and enter in the Cloupor contest. You will be able to enter the additional entry in the contest thread AFTER you get 5 posts/reply's in and become a "Full Member".

Good luck and congrats on your vape journey. Don't be shy about asking any question, there are many on here to help.

Tube mods your a bit restricted, I'd say the Subtank Mini with the 1.2 or 1.5ohm coil would be a good option, you could put it on a Coolfire 4 mod or buy the Subox kit.

If you really like the tube mods, maybe a Subtank Nano and a Aspire CF Sub mod :thumb:

If you do get a Subtank, I'm pretty sure you wont use your Ego One again though ha

Thanks to all! The Kanger Subtank Mini seems to be the one that everyone recommends but I am confused about vertical vs horizontal coils?? There is so much to learn around here....but I like it;)

I find the vertical coils last longer, less prone to flooding and dry hits and the flavor is better, much better all round coil.

Hmmmm, all this is interesting, I wanted a tube mod vs a box for the ease of pocket carry so I am planning on staying with the Ego for carry, eventually I guess I will go with a box mod for more power but right now I'm pretty happy. I think the coils above 1.0 ohms are better for mouth to lung correct?

Yes correct, the 1.5ohm vercial coils from kanger are great for mouth to lung..

The Subtank mini also works well on the Ego One Mega battery..

I also like the ego one for an out and about device. I prefer the clr coils for it since I can also rebuild those...but you can use them just like any replaceable coil.

If I may ask, why don't you just get another ego one tank. I mean they are perfectly fine tanks, relatively cheap, and are made to sit flush and look good on the ego one battery. I have other tanks like the subtank, but use ego one tanks on my ego ones, isticks and other mods when out and about. They just look less intimidating to me.

Well, what an interesting day. I went back to my local shop to pick up a tank, I ended up with the Nano which I'm really pleased with. I go to a friends to show him my new rig which he buys on the spot. So back to the local shop I go with his money to buy my replacement. I end up with an SMY 60 Mini under my Nano. The temp control was the major feature & the shop threw in the proper temp coil for my Nano.

It's nice & all but I really don't see how it hits, tastes or performs much better than my Ego One. So now I have all this power & adjustability so what do I do with it??
