Hello everyone,

Nice to be in this forum!

I started vaping recently and wanted to ask about a side effect Im getting. Ive noticed that especially on days that I vape more than usual, I get a bit of a mucus build up in my throat. Kind of like a lump you get when you have a cough or allergy.

Has anyone ever experienced that?

Im not sure if this is a common side effect or maybe its something in the juice that is causing it.

Any comments or input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again and hope to hear from you.

best,

Rick

There are so many things that this could be (mostly benign, just saying), anyone here would just be guessing. I'm not trying to be flippant, but if you have a serious concern, you should go to a doctor. Truly, anyone who says for certain what's going on with you over the internet is being disingenuous. See if it passes or see a health care professional if it doesn't, really no other option IMO.

Yeah, though, high VG and chain vaping will cause it. If it persists, do your due diligence. Otherwise stay hydrated and lay off the vaping for a little while, if vaping too much is what's triggering it.

But welcome to the forum and have a great time!

Thank you for the great input! I appreciate it. I think with me its just nasal drip from allergies which I have talked to my doctor about. Just gets a bit aggravated when I vape a lot. Will drink more water though. That is a good tip. Thanks!

50 50 shouldn't be causing it really. But as @ddirtyvapes suggested... You should lay off vaping for a just a lil while if the problem persists and try to see if anything changes after that.
It shouldn't be that big of a deal though. Happened to me too in the beginning.

Happy vaping. :)
thank you!! Appreciate it! :)

Question: did you use to smoke? (sounds like you didn't)

If no, then odds are that your system is just seeing the vapor as something foreign and reacting to it and creating a "barrier" for protection.
thank you! I smoked but many years ago and now just one in a great while. I appreciate your input!! :)

Welcome and glad you joined. "It is not unusual for ecigarette users who ceased tobacco smoking several months previously to experience light phlegm, coughed up once a day or more. It may be more pronounced with VG e-liquids. This might be regarded as a beneficial effect since it allows the body to expel unwanted inhaled materials."
All of us are different, when I was using 50/50 and 70/30 PG/VG I too got a little bit of mucus in my throat. Since I have gone to maximum VG (80 to 90% VG) I have not experienced any mucus problems.
Possible fixes:
1. Do nothing and see if the bit of mucus build up disappears over time. one or two months would be reasonable for me.
2. Change either the VG or PG mix percentage of your E-liquid (60-70/30 PG/VG).
