Hi everone,

I am a smoker of 31 years and the time has come to give this a real try and be rid of them. I just purchased the MVP 2.0 and a Kanger Pro tank 2. These seem to be popular for a beginner. So for now I need to keep on reading the wealth of information here as I have tried vaping and right now it feels to be a little harsh. I also get a cough when I try to vape.

Congratulations on your decision to put 'em down. I think you have picked an excellent combination to get started. The MVP v2 is an wonderful battery and will serve you well. The PT2 works great, if you can get good heads for it. There is a lot of information here and on youtube for the learning curve on the PT2.

The trick, I found, was vape when you would normally smoke. And vape until your craving goes away. Drink LOTS of water, vaping tends to dehydrate you very quickly.

What nic level are you starting at?

You've got a good setup, just might need a bit of tweaking. Get yourself an Aerotank base for the Protank II. It will eliminate a lot of problems common to the PT II. If you are new to vaping, it can be a bit harsh. Try a higher VG juice to begin with, that will ease that harshness up a bit. I coughed like crazy when I first started vaping but a mostly VG juice did the trick till I became used to vapor and not smoke. You can reduce the nic level to get rid of some of that throat hit, but for right now, you want to get plenty of nic to stave off those cravings. Good luck and good vaping!!

Welcome to the ECF Forum Shoesss! One of the friendliest places on the interweb!

You made some really fantastic device choices right off the bat, and I commend you for it.
Remember this is a no harm no foul situation. Every time you vape is one less cigarette you have and the better off your body will be. Keep reading and asking questions. There are a ton of experienced vapers here to help you.

+1 for that inhalation method thread. Truly helpful stuff.

BigCatDaddy I just want to say Thanks......I would have never believed it if I did not try the Aerotank base. Ordered it yesterday and it came today. It is amazing at the difference it has made.

Hi Shoesss and welcome to ECF! You've definitely come to the right place to ask questions and learn anything you ever wanted to know about vaping. You will have made the switch before you know it. The nic level could cause the harshness and coughing. I tried 18mg and it was too harsh and I coughed my head off. I went to 12mg and that worked for me. I smoked Marlboro Lights, 1 1/2 PAD, for 35 years. You've been given some great advise already. Make sure you read the link to Inhalation Techniques Creepylady posted. Smoking and vaping techniques are different. Good luck to you! You'll get it and you sound dedicated. :)
