Hi, I have been smoking cigarettes for almost fifty years. I really need to stop. I hope vaping does the trick - I know it's probably going to be hard.

I am awaiting the arrival of a v2 ex starter kit ordered earlier this week.

I have found some of the threads concerning the transition from cigs to vaping very inspiring. Glad to be here.

Tg3, welcome :) I hope you enjoy ECF, and your new starter kit. Definitely ask for help or any questions if you need to... It may be easier than you think, or harder, kind of seems to be variable for folks, but having encouragement and a place to ask questions will be a good thing :)

Best of luck!

Welcome to the forum. Wish you well getting off cigs! I smoked for 48 years 1.5+ PAD, now on day 49 stinkie free. Smoked my last cancer stick 2pm June 16th before walking in the door a local vape shop on a mission. I'm still strictly vaping tobacco juices, not fruits and desserts. I believe for me this helped make going cold turkey easy. That and a strong desire to save what's left of my lungs!

Glad to have you here! I smoked for 32 years and quit, many here smoked longer than I and were successful.

If you need any help, or have any problems feel free to ask.. we can help make your transition a little smoother.

Personally I've never heard of the kit you ordered, but I'm sure there are those on the forums who have. And know, if one thing doesn't work for you there are so many choices that there is going to be something to suit your needs..

Welcome to ECF!

Congrats on taking this step. You will not regret it.

From experience, you will want something more than your V2 Ex. Did you get the refillable version that has blank cartridges? If so, you're not limited to V2's flavor menu. There are about a gazillion flavors available for you, at pennies on the dollar for what V2 charges.

There are also less expensive, more powerful devices available for you out there.

The V2 is good enough to prove to yourself that you can quit smoking this way. The other stuff out there will help keep you quitted. ;)

Welcome, and we are rooting for you.
It does take willpower and the desire to stop smelling like an ashtray lol.
I dual used for some time before I found what worked for me, but I knew it could.
I had 20 years of Marlboro reds and cigars so I started with a tight draw and high nic.
As said ask if you don't know or just have a general question.
This has been my support group and hope we can help you.

Hello tgs3...I'm new around here as well...My 1st thought is you're in the right place...I've received a Ton of really great suggestions/help and everyone is pleasant...2nd...Read Read Read...This whole Forum is loaded with dynamite information...

Currently I use an "eGo Type Battery" and better quality "ce4 Clearomizers"(Kanger & Innokin)...I've been using that set-up for about 2 months now...I also own a v2 "Cig-A-like" and in all honesty it works pretty well...I use the little refillable cartridges but they're a little small and a short battery life so I prefer the eGo & ce4...There are about a Bazillion different choices in hardware and what I use is simple and convenient but on the "Low End" of equipment...Zig Zag makes a ce4 starter kit for about $20+- a bit...

I haven't done a bunch of shopping on line but here are a few names you could look at:
Mt Baker Vapor - Mostly pre-mix e-juice and some hardware
Central Vapors - I've only used them so far for a bit of hardware
e-Cig Express - Lots of DIY(Do It Yourself)flavors pre-mixed base liquid and some equipment
There are many reputable vendors registered with ECF...See the TAB at the top of the page

Most Important...I smoked C-Filters or similar for over 30 years...I Haven't smoked a cigarette in 3 days...I began vaping about 2 years ago with a Cig-A-Like pre-filled cartridge type product and even then my smoking had begun to decline but those are almost as expensive as smoking...A refillable tank is the most versatile and least expensive way to go...

So...Good Luck...It can be done...Regards...Trig :D

Welcome Aboard tgs3,
Coastal Cowboy summed up pretty nicely what I was going to recommend to you. Most importantly, you have made a start! If you enjoy this forum, there is a TON of information and support here. I started at about the same point you are now, three years ago. I learned how to upgrade to the next level of equipment on a budget; what works better and why. I got into do-it -yourself (DIY) making of my own e-liquids. Again, primarily due to budget constraints. I've made several of my own tobacco extracts using the techniques that I found right here. My original intention was not to quit, but just cut way back on the cigarettes. I smoked and vaped, then only smoked in the mornings, and after 5 or 6 months, quit completely. If you have questions, do not hesitate to ask them here. Read what you find interesting. You may be surprised what directions it takes you.
I sure was! Best wishes and once again, welcome!

If you enjoy the Juul tg3, you can buy the same kind of nic (nic salts) that are used in the Juul to DIY when you get to that point.... That's what I use in my DIY juice, and I like it far more than regular nicotine, and since I don't vape more of it than I vape storebought juices, that's what I got for my nic stash. A lot of people like the Juul but it can become very expensive to replace or even refill cartridges. I think it's good you're ordering some different things to try.... As you find what you like, there are many ways to make the economics work more easily.

Though, that's for later. It sounds like you really want to make quitting smoking work rather than settling on one piece of equipment at this point or saving money upfront, and that's great and should be your focus. I almost got a Juul starting out as I was feeling desperate.... They were out of stock in my area, and I'm glad I waited it out, but also enjoy the nic salts.... I really, really hope it works for you!!! :)

Welcome and glad you joined.
v2 looks like a good place to start. The information below will give you an idea of how to progress when your ready.
Since vaping is totally scalable, the choice you have can be overwhelming. The main thing to remember is, part of vaping is all about you the vaper, being in control and the freedom to fix/tailor any aspect you feel you need to improve upon.

Welcome .... This is a great forum. I currently use V2 and haven't smoked in 3 weeks (after almost 50 years!).

As others have said, the cartridges are small, the battery life isn't stellar, and they take a long time to arrive. The important thing is that they work and are simple to use. I'm at 1.8 juice and haven't had cravings or other symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Most comments suggest we'll move to something more sophisticated than cig-alikes. This is fine and I'll do so when it feels right. I went into a vape store and was astounded at the clouds they blew from their devices! To me, the issue is nicotine delivery and V2 does it very well so I ordered another starter kit as the highly recommended spare. With 4 batteries, gobs of juice and cartridges, there's plenty for now.

The best part is that there are lots of ways to do this and many are described on this forum. Some stop cigarettes immediately and others cut down gradually. Either way, this is exponentially easier than the other techniques I've tried.I fibbed about the best part. The real best part is how much better you'll feel.

Congratulations on your decision and good luck with your journey!
