I'm not a fan of cigalikes, but they work fantastically for some folks, and that's really step one.
BTW, I don't think I've EVER entered a vape shop and not seen huge clouds.... But most do carry mid-range/in between equipment that may not have octocouple coils or whatever, that can work well also but you do have to ask for that, usually. That said, I didn't really start experimenting too much until I found a really stable, desirable vape for myself and then got a backup of that. Doubles of something I KNOW I will use consistently doesn't seem like overkill to me. I don't want to vape cartridges if only for the cost, but if that had been what worked for me best, I would have done THAT because nothing was going to cost more than my health issues were costing me, be it smoking, or a Juul, a V2, or whatever. I like the flexibility of being able to make juices and starting to build coils...
I'm still off work and had I not been, the initial amount of effort/investment/learning would have been probably a bit much, and I may've started out far more simply. That said, ecigs are GETTING me to the point that I will be able to return to work shortly, well, once my docs all sign off.... But, it ended up being good timing for me, and I'm glad I listened to my docs who were saying, "Okay, you quit,Anna, can you PLEASE recover/relax a bit until you return to 70 hr work weeks," and I am so glad I did. I don't think I could have gotten this far with the amount of stress I'd been under at work what with health issues on top of it. Everyone's different, but I needed to swim in the shallow/kiddie pool for a bit. I want to be really confident that vaping "sticks" for me upon my return....
