I'm buying my first proper mod but
don't know if I should go for the iTaste SVD or the Vamo V5
would appreciate any advice prior to buying.

welcome to ECF :toast:

read plenty about these style MODs
seems the Sigelei ZMAX gets the better reviews, probably the one I would go for
but who can say for sure unless you own them all--they all have about the same guts... ;)

- Sigelei Zmax V3 Telescope [VE543] - £49.95 : Vape Escape
- Innokin iTaste SVD [VE525] - £49.95 : Vape Escape
- Vamo VE Stainless Steel [VE595] - £44.95 : Vape Escape

- Variable Voltage/Wattage - Mods

- Vamo V5 Full Kit SS - Mods
- Itaste SVD Express - Mods

good luck

I researched both pretty heavily before I finally settled on the Vamo and besides trivial things like button placement, menu style, etc., I didn't find much discernible difference between the two. Watch as many videos as you can on both products and see what others like and dislike about both of them and you might be able to make your mind up based on that alone. Regardless, both mods seem to do what they were intended to do well and without much hassle.

I've gone for the Vamo, thanks to pufZeppelin for even giving me a UK link to a great priced full kit ss version. I love this vaping lark and this forum gives me a real sense of community.
Thanks to all who gave me advice, it's very much appreciated.

Right, the Vamo v5 is here, the batteries are on charge, and I've gone to see what wattage I should use. Then I see a thread which says you've got to double the wattage for dual coil devices from the ones stated on the chart. I've got a MBV Hawk Sauce that takes a bit of getting hold of in the Isle of Man, steeping for seven days, and want to sit down to the perfect vape, please can I beg further sagely advise on the perfect VV / VW setting prior to sitting down with an espresso, a crossword and my new mod. I will be using a Protank 3 - 2ohm cleraromiser fitted with a airflow adjuster.

hey no problem - just start low ! like about 3.5v

vape a few puffs then increase to 3.7v - vape a few puffs then increase to 3.9v

then if needed, vape a few puffs then increase to 4.0v, keep going, vape a few puffs then increase to...

vape a few puffs then increase to... - vape a few puffs then increase to...

just keep playing with it from low to higher until you get what tastes good to you

every juice change, every coil change, every tank change, same thing - just start low !

very very simple process

:)

good luck, waiting to hear your results

Or, adjust the wattage, and then just leave the thing alone. You won't need to change voltage when you change coils, the mod will do that for you. A 1.5ohm coil will work just as good as a 2.4ohm coil without having to adjust a single thing.

And wattage adjustments are more precise than voltage adjustments.

Excellent advice!
I have VV, VW devices, and never use the Variable Wattage feature, nothing against Variable Wattage.
I use the same process as you do, and it works, simple and easy.
Plus I kinda like pressing buttons lol.
The Janty MiD should be here tommorow, and The Joytech Emode the day after.
Techy~

:2c:
that is a good feature of the watts setting

but someone asking that question is unsure of the capabilities of a new device...

starting at a safe low setting ensures you won't accidentally over power and get burnt
my thinking is that is a great way to familiarize with the usage of your devices parameters
and also volts increment being at .1 and watts moving at ½ (.5) increments,
volts is more able to 'fine tune' , a reason I favor volts...

start low, then move up to preferred vape output - JMO

:)
