Hello ECF! I'm new here (just joined today, yay!) and I need some advice.

I decided to get an e-cig a few weeks ago, and, being totally overwhelmed by the lingo on this site and numerous types, I just bought one of the 'mall' kind. It's called 'A Clean Cigarette' and I have no clue what model/kind it really is. Basically, it's got two parts- the catridge thing and the battery. I have two questions for any of the veterans out there who might want to chime in and help me out:

1) Sometimes I get a really heavy hit off this thing and choke, other times I feel like I'm drawing and drawing and getting nothing. I'm currently using the pre-filled catridges (are these things called cartomizers??). Is there a fix for this, or do I just have to deal?

2) Part of the reason I got an e-cig was so I could quite smoking regular cigarettes and save some money. I'm interested in refilling my cartridges, but I have no clue what I'm doing and I don't want to end up getting nicotine poisoning bc I'm an idiot. Where should I start? I'm a menthol smoker, the cartridges I have now are 26 mg which is perfect (well, when I get a decent hit). I'm looking for a good tutorial and supplier for cheap yet decently high quality liquid.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! I'm totally clueless here, so thanks in advance to anyone who takes time out of their day to help me out!!

Well, you took the first step...

Now to get you something that will work better.

If you want a "slim" style like you have, I recommend a vapeshot.com kit for beginners. Their kits are good quality and come with everything you need. I've used several brands and theirs came with the most for the $. Also, their kit has 510 style threads (male threads on cartomizers) that are compatible with larger batteries for later on.

If you want a bigger kit, you can try an eGo.

Both of the kits above will give you better and more consistent results.

For juice, I recommend V4L. They have alot of flavors. Their e-cigs are kr808 style (female thread on the cartomizer) this is less compatible with larger models.

And yes, it is a cartomizer if it is a 2 piece unit.

You can refill cartomizers without worrying about poisoning yourself. Just order your premade juices in whatever nic strength you are using. If you get some liquid on your hand, just wash it off.

The dangerous stuff is the very high strength nic liquid which is used in DIY.

Just to avoid future confusion a cartridge (cart) slips into an atty which is then screwed into your battery. Carts do not hold much liquid, but could also be refilled.

A cartomizer (carto) is an atty and a cartridge combined. The carto screws into the battery. No need to use an atty with it. Single coil cartos will hold about 1 ml juice so will last much longer than a cart.

Just be aware that some vendors call cartos 'Atomized Cartridges', but they are really just cartos. I wish vendors would not do this, but that is how the 5/pk of cartos are labeled on the box and that's how they are labeled in China.

Save yourself more frustration and get a good model. I would suggest you get one of these three: Kgo, E-Power 510 or Riva 510. They are the size of a slim cigar or sharpie pen. Get manual batteries (small button) and some blank cartomizers (atomizer/cart combined) and several different menthol flavored eliquids and fill them yourself. I would suggest 18mg to 24mg nicotine strength to start out.

These models will be 100% better than what you already have, will hold a charge for 5 - 6 hours and be more consistent. Plus they cost less than what you probably paid. Here are some well supported suppliers:

Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - EGO E-Power

Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510

KGO (Riva) 1100mAh Electronic Cigarette Starter Kit - $54.95

Rule of Thumb: the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance.

Good Luck
