Hey everyone, I'm new obviously. I have been a smoker of traditional tobacco cigarettes for 10+ years. I started using an e-go a couple months back. My knowledge on E-Cigarettes/vaporizers is pretty limited so I apologize. I've been somewhat happy with the e-go style. The batteries just died on the one I had. I was looking to upgrade to a Provari P3 or a Provari classic. I have heard really good things about both. A few times I have seen some really cool E-Cig / Vaporizers with buttom button's that look similar to the provari style. I've tried to search for them but to no avail. Could anyone recommend one with Provari like quality or should I just go for the provari? Anyways, I look forward to roaming the forums and learning as much as I can, as well as, getting my upgraded device and enjoying some good flavors!

Thank you for your response. Could you offer any suggestions? I don't mind the price if it works as well / holds up as long as I've heard or read about. Though, I'm not set on it specifically as my primary experience has been with the cheap e-go twist style. I'd really like something better and I don't want to constantly change too many parts or do to many things aside from setting voltage / wattage and actually using it.

I went from the Egos to an Istick [threads stripped] to an IPV mini V2 [dropped it, it's in the shop, I'm waiting to hear if it's repairable] to a Provari P3. Which I have dropped innumerable times (I have stone floors in my house), and it just laughs at it. I should have skipped the intermediate steps... +1 for the buy a used one and see what you think.

There is a fair amount of difference between PV's. I'd think about what you want to use on top of it maybe first.

The Provari will do most things tho and be a good backup if you move onwards.

When you say what I want to put on top do you mean like just between Atomizer vs cartomizer vs clearomizer etc.. or the specific type and brand I would like to use?

I own 3 Provaris (2-2.5 and 1 P3) plus 2 Reos, 5 DNA devices, three I sticks, an SXmini M class and a Tan Mod, I guess you can say I like mods and have been at this for a little bit. ;) Even though I have three, I am not the world's biggest Istick fan but they do the job they are intended to do. My problem is the power is not consistent on them and they fluctuate as much as i volt high or low and sometimes they do the snake rattle.

How you vape really drives what will make you most happy, mod-wise. I would never steer a person away from a Provari because the vape quality is very consistent, they are rugged and pretty much live forever (with a few notable exceptions). That is, unless you mostly vape at under 0.5 ohms on multiple coils. Editted to add (ETA); Toppers are your juice delivery system. So what are you using and at what resistance?

What sort of topper are you using? Do you like cooler vapes or warmer ones? Do you lean toward taste or vapor production?

I find that people who build or use coils from 0.5 ohms up and to whom taste is most important will usually find a P3 to be their cup of tea. If you don't usually vape much below 1 ohm or higher, then a v2.5 is just fine and can be had very cheaply and new. V 2.5 pricing is well below what I paid for any of my DNA devices right now and they look to be having some sales at the moment.

Would you tell us a little about your vaping style? I, for one, would find it easier to match you with a mod if I knew a bit more about your D3monc style...bwahahahahahaha;)

Well if you want to lung hit a sub ohm topper or want to try some Temp controlled, that'll limit your choices for PV's.

Hahaha well I've only had the e-go twist style with the ce5 atomizer. I lean more towards flavor but I like thick clouds as well. I haven't had a variable watt / voltage device so I don't know what I prefer in terms of that. That's partially why I was interested in the provari. It seems similar to what I've had just better quality etc. with some options to see how different things work like voltage or wattage levels.

What about the ego one? Simple and effective.

The experience I had with the ego twist kind of turned me off of the ego or joyetech. Mine leaked on occasion and then the batteries dying in both of them that came with the kit. I guess I mainly want to try something different but I do prefer that style (what are the called?) over the box style.

To be honest anything would be an improvement. Provaris are never a bad investment. Even with all of the other choices I have I still love my 'Varis. A P3 will give you more flexibilty than the 2.5 as far as resistance goes. You can run a Kangar sub tank on it and many are quite happy with that.

If you want to fog out your neighbors though you will want something with a bit more wattage, not much. ;) If that is the case the VaporSharks DNAs are going cheaper these days too and give you the option of temp control if you use NIckel Coils. But the exterior quality lacks a little je ne sais quoi. The paint wears but it you can live with that you should be OK.

Although I will say that once you learn to build, I was making dual coil 1 ohm builds on my 2.5 that produced enough cloud to obscure me for a second or two and lung hits were not a problem.

A Provari is not a cloud machine...with the right build or tank you can get very nice vapor and great taste. The resale value is decent if you want to trade or sell them usually. Personally I would not part with mine because regardless of the others, 'Varis give me the best taste experience from tanks.

So I use a different mod if I am dripping (or reverse dripping...a.k.a. squonking)...the 'Varis for most tanks. the DNAs and the SX mini m for temp control, the Isticks for a kick about mod and the Tan...well because it looks cool o_O

I use my rdna 40, my Reo and my 'Varis equally because everything in vaping is a trade off.

If it helps, I started with e-cigs to egos to a v2.5 'Vari because there was no P3 and branched out from there out of curiosity. Don't regret any of it.

I was actually looking in to Hana modz dna 40 but ProV seems interesting as well. Regardless of any debate; Welcome to the hood I hope you enjoy your stay.

Approx: $250 US for Provari P3 converting it to CAD makes it 310 + SH + clearance + taxes = needless to say I may have to save up $500 CAD before I even click that link.
