I have been vaping without even one cig for 6 weeks :thumb: Very happy after 40 years of cigs.

I am using an istick 40tc and am very happy with it. I just leave it at 10W and that´s it. I have two, one for a backup. The problem is I am worried about what will happen next month. I don´t mind vaping unflavored if I had to and if I could get a jug of 50/50 with 18 nic. that would be great. The problem is I don´t feel comfortable measuring and calculating the nic just yet and I feel a little rushed. Also I have heard that the nic will oxidize with time.

Also, what happens when my 2 iSticks die? I am a MTL vaper and don´t need crazy sub om mods.

Also, I am not familiar with the online stores as I just started.

Just a little worried, any thoughts?

this is what makes me sad and pisses me off. All the new vapers that don't have all the time they need to get up to speed

:censored: the FDA :-x

I'm sure you will get lots of people to help you. Also, all the info on ECF will be here when you need it. I have a feeling that nic will be one of the hardest to get in time. Stock up on that. When you have that, the info on what to do will be here when you are ready or at the point where you have to mix your own.

More knowledgeable people will help with hardware questions and on where to get your nic. As a Moderator, I cannot show favoritism to one vender over another.

Congratulations on your 6 weeks

There are several reputable places to buy your nicotine. I have personally purchased nicotine from myfreedomsmokes and rtsvapes. It will be much cheaper in the long run to get 100 mg/ml and some vg and pg than to just buy the strength you plan on vaping and it will take up much less room in your freezer. It doesn't actually freeze but will keep much longer if kept in the freezer. I have blogged how I store mine and also my way of mixing e-liquid. Just scroll down once you get there. I am in the K.I.S.S. camp :D

I also have a 40watt istick and it is a great device. The only problem with devices with built in batteries is once the battery gives up it is just a paper weight. You may want to check out the eleaf pico, they are getting a lot of good reviews. I personally like my kbox mini, clouper mini + along with the pico. All of them work with replaceable 18650 batteries. I don't see us having a problem getting batteries once the deeming regs actually go into effect.

Congrats. Another one.
Like mattiem said. Use your funds (if any) to get something with replaceable batteries. Something sturdy.
Get something with Stainless steel 510 connection because I had a sigelei 30 and the 510 stripped. Il use the electronics inside one day but it's still annoying. Good luck

What state do you live in? State law changes are likely to have more impact sooner on what and where you can purchase. Depending on where you live, nothing may change 8/2016, you might have the full two years to stock up. Then again, everything could change, and change fast and with short warning. Better to prepare earlier than needed than too late.

1st priority, nicotine. There are a few shops that sell premixed 18mg, but 100mg is cheaper and takes less storage space. It will keep well in a freezer and mixing really isn't difficult. Lots of help available here, especially in the DIY sub-forum.

2nd priority, some mods that use replaceable 18650 batteries and tanks with rebuildable coils.

Hey Robino ! Why do you believe nicotine would be harder to come buy than other vaping products like finished juice. Wouldn't the registration, product listing and ingredient listing requirement be a lot more difficult for products with many ingredients, than products with only two ingredients ? Especially since many nicotine manufacturers have already registered their product with the FDA for use in other cessation products ?

I have a feeling that once they figure out we can get around premade eliquid, they will come after nic. :(

oh ok, you are projecting, fair enough :). I don't personally see any reason why getting nic in February 2017 for example, will be more difficult than buying a bottle of your favorite pre-made liquid. If anything i would think the odds are better for nicotine being available than your eliquid vendor still selling their own brand.

Basic to stock up on:
Mods several replaceable battery types regulated and a few mech's with kicks. I chose Provari for regulated, they have specials now $34 to $39 and for mech's I have a couple Nemesis, $10 at hoosier ecigs and kicks for $4.
Tanks- rebuildables since you like MTL you may like Kayfuns, easy to find replacement parts for too
Nic base for DIY e juice.

Even if you just stock up now on these 3 things you can learn later how to use it all. Good luck !

It becomes a tobacco product, it could get slapped hard.

Yea, I have the same hunch. I'm actually surprised nic base wasn't specifically singled out in the regs. Something dumb like 36mg max to consumers. It seemed odd that there was no mention of it at all. I kinda doubt 100mg base shipped through the mail will be available inside of 2 years.

It's a shame for new vapers this is happening. I'm planning for 10 years plus redundancy. The bare minimum for me is 3 liters of 100mg nic, $150. 5 picos plus 5 vtwo minis, $300. 10 SV rda clones, $100. I might have a redundant supply of nic from a different supplier. If I didn't need this stuff today it will all get used eventually. If you are going to be a life long vaper you'll learn to mix and rebuild sooner or later but you can have the right things stockpiled and not use them till you're ready or interested. How about 1.2 cents per ml for liquid? Sound interesting?

It becomes a tobacco product, so subject to FDA regulation, no argument there. But so does almost everything else we use in vaping. I was wondering if there is an indication that liquid nic will be treated differently by the FDA ( or the states ) than other vaping products.

I'm not trying to be argumentative, but i have heard from many advocates and lawyers ( including Dimitris and Azim Chowdhuri ) that liquid nic will be more likely to still be in the market a year from now, than finished liquids. Consensus ECF wisdom ( if the stockpiling threads are indicative ) seems to be different though. I was wondering why.

Hard to say, we will know more as things shake out after 8-8, at this point no one really knows.

At this point in time I just feel like it is prudent not to take a chance. One day we could order all the pre-made e-liquid we wanted and the next day a reg was passed that prevented all but face to face purchases here in the state of arkansas. That could just as easily happen with the nicotine we use to make our own. I consider it a good insurance policy for the future.

It actually wouldn't surprise me if raw nic base isn't regulated at all.

Nicotine has been used in the agricultural industry for ages as a pesticide. Just take a walk through your local gardening supply store and look at all of the pesticides that include nicotine or nicotine sulfate, and imagine all of them suddenly being banned by the FDA as tobacco products. Now there is a lawsuit the FDA doesn't want to take on.

Nicotine is the preferred pesticide of Organic Farmers. Ban nicotine base and the FDA will be taking on both national and international organic farming lobbying firms like WWOOF and OSGATA.

This bothers me also and worries me as well. People start doing things that they are not informed about such as battery safety and ohms law.
