Hey all, just got my Grand last week and loving it! This is my first mod, and should have skipped the 808's and ego's and gone straight to a Reo. I wasn't sure how well it was going to do with all VG juice, but had no issues there. Any tips you Reo vets have to make this device even better, is it Kickable?

Heres a pic...

Welcome, moran5 :)
Nice to have another voice in the crowd. Thanks for pitching in your experience in the other thread.

Yes, you can kick your Grand. Here is a thread with a lot of discussion on the various ways of working with the Kick. Lots to read, but you have options. I like the metal strip option the best. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/reos-mods/238603-kicked-reo-grand-18490-a.html

You can also use a rebuildable atomizer to tune your atty to taste. :)
There's an entire section devoted to rebuildables, about half way down the list. The last 5 or 6 threads are the most recent. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/reos-mods/270331-free-reo-forum-thread-index.html

I'd recommend waiting with a kick, and giving your Reo at least a few weeks, to get used to squonking (squeezing the bottle to push juice into the atomizer).

I am generally somewhat against kick as a concept (just my opinion, lots of people love it). It forces you to use a smaller battery (about half the capacity), and does not let you discharge it very far. Which means that your power will stay constant, for, say, 4 hours. Then you need to replace the battery.

Without the kick, your fully charged 18650 will remain at 4.1-4.2 volt for about the same 4 hours, and then start producing reduced voltage. Then it will be good for about another 6 hours before you absolutely need to charge it.

The times I picked depend on your vaping habits and all, they are just here to illustrate my point.

Another downside of the kick is that it limits you to 10 watt. I started at 8 and was fine with that. Now I'm enjoying 12 watt more.

If you would like to improve your vape quality, I would suggest some sort of rebuildable atomizer -- Reomizer from Rob, A7 from lots of vendors, or ERA/Hornet from I have no idea where. Those will give you even better flavor/throat hit than even the higher end premade atomizers, and will last longer. Just need to experiment with the coils you want. There's quite a few threads on that here, or, if you're interested, I can give you a short abstract of what I found about different coil setups :)

And, of course, congratulations on your Reo! You'll love the mod, and love the community!

Congrats on the new Reo. I had to re-emphasize the need for adding a rebuildable atomizer to your Reo. It really does improve the quality of your vaping experience almost as much as the Reo did. I know that with wide post ones like the reomizer, most of your battery is used on vaporizing your juice instead of heating the outside of your atty or cartomizer.

I have a different take on the Kick. I would wait on buying a Kick until you are comfortable using the Grand and have experimented with different setups such as different juice, attys etc.

I do think the Kick is a great devise for the Grand. I find that I change batteries about the same or less with a Kick than I did when I used 18650s. When I was using 18650s I would change out the battery around 3.7/3.8 volts. With the Kick it stops firing about 3.5 volts. This makes up for the larger capacity of the 18650 battery as more amps are available to use with the 18490...1600 vs. 1100.

More importantly though the vape is consistent from the first pull to the last. There's no tapering off as there is with a fully mechanical mod.
In addition the Kick provides short protection. If at some point an RBA is used this can be very beneficial. With RBAs the ohm being built isn't as important as the Kick will regulate the watts whereas a mechanical will not.

I use my Kick about 9 watts. I used to use 1.5 ohm attys with the18650s as my standard setup. I find these to be about the same but it's the same all the way through the battery usage.

I would wait though and see how a straight Grand works for you. Give it some time. It's a great mod just as it is.

Congratulations and welcome to the gang. :D I say go for it and slap a kick in that puppy. I love mine. There is nothing better than a Reo with Variable wattage I got my 18490/Mini 2.0 kicked and it's awesome who cares about battery life that's why we carry extras. Really how hard is it to change a battery every 4+hours:cool:
