New server??

Is everyone still getting the 'server is too busy' message? I thought there was just a server upgrade done?

I really don't get the 'server busy' message much during the day. Seems like more at night (at least here in the states) is when it shows up.

As I understand it, we are still on the old server. Yes, it is working great, except when it gets overwhelmed, which happened again last night.

Hopefully they will get it moved soon. I suspect the forum will need to be down for several hours, as they would first need to lock everyone out so we don't wind up with lost posts after the move.

I had to go through a server move myself early this year when my web host provider sold his excellent company (which he built from the ground up) to a sub-par "buyer". Their first move was to move everyone's site to a new server and platform which turned into a 4 or 5 day long disaster with loss of data and email service. Their support was non-existent and I had to manually restore lots of data and fix all of my CGI scripts (crash course in Perl, let me tell ya).

I'm sure the ECF server move will be in better hands. These things never go smoothly. We just need some patience. I'm sure there will be an announcement when we are officially USING the new server.

Yeah, most people are working during the day and they all log on at night, bogging down the server. I myself am currently off work from a spinal fusion so I've got ALLLLLLL day (and night) to spend time here. Once I go back to work, I'm sure my posts per day will drop drastically.
