I have some purple batteries that have always had an annoying "delay" to them. Got them when purple was a brand new color. The pink ones ordered at the same time seemed fine, so I figured it was something fluky with the purple ones.
After almost a year, some of my original batteries are croaking, so I ordered two new....78mm Red and Green. Both of them have the same delay as the purple batteries. Experimented side-by-side with an original (1 yr old maxx fusion) red batt and the new ones, and there is definitely a longer delay between the start of the inhale and the battery firing on both new batts.
It's almost a full second. Is a different switch being used in the newer batteries?
