I have some Kamry tanks I bought in the last few days. one X10, one X9 mini, one X1 drip and a X6 that came with my Kamry 201.
the X10 and X9 are basically cones that use the PT II coil system. The X6 is a top coil tank.
I did my first coil last night on the X10 using kanthal 28 gauge and cotton. Love that flavor now, and smooth, better then the X1 drip now.

Today while I was at my local Vape shop, I picked up the X9 mini(basically a PT mini), first thing I did to it when I got home was rebuild the coil, and the rest of my tanks including the X1 drip:headbang:.
I'm getting around 1.4-1.7 ohms throughout the lot and 1.2ohms on the X1.
I prefer the X9 mini first and the X6 over all the rest now. The X9 is so smooth with the best flavor I ever had thus far since I started vaping a month ago. The X6 has hard hits of vaper with great flavor now, before it was a lot of dry hits and no flavor.

Just wondering if the 1.4-1.7ohms is a good area to be in? It dont seem to change much no matter if I do between 6 wraps or 12 wraps of 28 gauge.

I'd say that's a good range to shoot for... but it would be impossible to say a 6 wrap and a 12 wrap would give the same resistance. Resistance is based off the number of wraps (or more specifically, the length of wire used) - the longer the wire, the higher the resistance. Generally, a few extra wraps (even just one or two) will bump res quite a bit. +/-0.3 miiiiiight be the difference between 6 wraps with 28g depending on the size of coils, but I can't confirm nor deny that.

Best thing you can do is educate yourself on the fundamentals of building your own coils. Take an hour or so to really do some research and watch some tutorials to get an idea of how other people build. Trust me, that hour or so you spent educating yourself on the topic WILL save many, many more hours of frustration down the road when you can't figure out what's wrong with your build because you didn't have the base knowledge to troubleshoot the problems you run into.

Regardless, best of luck and have fun building your atties! Sounds like you got a bunch of new toys to play with!

Cheers! :toast:

Ok, lol, then that makes much more sense. A 6-wrap 1.2, an 8-wrap at 1.4, and a 12-wrap at 1.7 all sound very realistic now! Hahaha, not that I was questioning anything, I just couldn't exactly grasp the concept of 6-wrap and a 12-wrap both hitting 1.4!

Since you're new to coil rebuilds, another thing to consider is the gauge of your wire. Some people like thick gauges (27g and below), some people like thinner (28g+). Also, with having all the different atties you have, you might want to experiment and see what you like best. Do you want your coils to heat up really fast? Go with thicker wire/less wraps and vice versa. It's all about trial-and-error-and-error-and-error-and-error... you get the point.

You'll hear people say "sweet spot" in reference to the exact amount of wraps, gauge, and how the build is made when they make a build that is exactly what they like. Now, remember, your sweet spot may be different than the next person, so once again, it's all about T&E&E&E&E&E&E...

Once you find yours, you'll be like this lil guy -> :vapor:

Well what Im getting is its the same tank, its seems that some coil heads I put in cut air flow off and some don't. surely the mech tolerances are not that bad to make some bigger then others that they cut air flow completely off.

Also after a day or over night the new coil builds with cotton now flood somewhat. Work great for few hours until they set over night.
next morning they flood and gurgle.

Picked up so new Juice at another local shop today having serious trouble with leakage. I believe its not a 50/50 blend,(though they said it was), looks little watery.
After redoing the cotton wick many many times with no success, Im going to chalk it up to the thin juice. My other juice is not leaking in the same tank build. Not sure how to remedy this with cotton wicks.

Also built some 2.0-2.3 ohm coils today with the 28 gauge Kanthal. Its a tight fitting coil in the head. 14 wraps on a 5/64 bit. Takes along time to heat that up on my VV mod. Triggers my 10 sec shut off at times trying to get a good pull of juice.
Think Im going to have to get some 32 or 34 gauge, perhaps to get a shorter heat time?
