New to DIY, A Few Questions

I have not tried DIY mixing, but wish to give it a shot. I have a mix calculator and understand the ratios and such. I will order Perfumers Apprentice and Lorann(water soluble) flavorings, along with glass 4ml bottles, droppers, syringes, gloves, and pipettes.
Starting out, to make things somewhat less complicated, I plan on ordering an unflavored liquid, premixed at my preferred 70PG/30VG/12mg NIC (and understand when adding flavor, the nic % will reduce). I do not mind paying a little bit more money for this convenience.


My questions are:

Is there much difference in results buying the premixed/unflavored liquid rather than mixing the base/nic myself?

Also, I plan on ordering the base from MBV wholesale and wonder if there is much of a difference in unflavored juice from MBV, or for example My Freedom Smokes and elsewhere?

Any pros/cons to starting out this way would be appreciated.

Good questions. I'd be interested in finding this out as well. I've only purchased the unflavored and mixed myself.

If you accept the fact that your nic levels are going to vary and the price is higher, none. Some recipes are 5% flavor and some are 20%, which is going to make the nic % vary greatly.

I use this calculator. It allows me to preset what nic level I want over all, so I don't have to worry about my nic level going down if I have a recipe that uses more flavor than another recipe.

Also I find it best to have PG, VG, and Nic in PG all seperately. This way you can tweek the PG/VG levels if desired. I work with 100mg (10%) as it allows me to use the least amout of nic per batch, but remember at that high of a concentration it is dangerous so read all the DIY forum stickies to learn the safety precations needed.

It will vari the NIC concentration depending on how much flavor you use. But a person needs to start somewhere and this is as good a place to start as any. If you keep your mixes simple starting with single flavors at lets say 5% then you will reduce the NIC content by 5% which is not that much.

As far as where you buy, the venders you mention are all good venders and it just comes down to cost. If cost is not a concern then purchase from those venders. If cost is a concern research recommended venders here on the forum. Many have much lower prices.
