Holy crap, this is exactly what I needed! Thanks bro! I've been taking a look at a couple flavor and supplies sites and saw all the beakers and other "lab" gear, is all that really necasary? I just thought it'd be a couple bottles, flavors, pg/VG, and syringes. Speaking of which will I need to buy syringes in bulk or can I get by with 1 5ml, 10ml, etc.?

You can certainly start off with just a few syringes. Add other items later, as you feel they would make measuring & mixing easier. Multiple syringes are easier, in that you don't have to stop and rinse out between different ingredients.

I like using graduated cylinders for mixing larger batches of my base. I don't really care if my base is 60/40 or 62/38, I won't notice the difference. If I really cared about accuracy, I'd try using a scale and measure by weight.

Ask your vape friends for their empty e juice bottles. I found 100 1ml syringes on amazon or ebay for 10 bucks, they are great for making small batches for testing or for accent flavors in larger batches. You'll need 3 or 5 ml for your larger batches, plus a large 20 for vg/pg. If you can, buy bulk sized (gallon) VG and PG, they will last. The initial set up is costly but saves in the long run. When you have recipes and ingredients, buy the larger bottles (30ml) of flavors for the ones you'll use more (ex: strawberry, vanilla custard, blueberry, sweet creme etc..) It's about 2 bucks for the small bottles, and only 4 for the next size up in most cases. I use 100mg nicotine, it works really well and uses less, just treat it like you would drain cleaner, don't get it in your eyes and wash hands often.

You can start for much less and try it out to see if you like it. Read about "steep" so you know what to expect on fresh made juices. DIY is a fun shineyitis. Other than that...READ...READ...READ....

Right on, what size batch In ml do you usually pull out the beaker and what size beaker do you use? I read on one of the blogs above^ that a 50ml graduated cylinder is good to have as well, but would a 60ml dripper top bottle work just as well (minus the difference in size of course) or is it better for that purpose?

Moved to the proper DIY forum. :)
Thanks for the move, still getting a lay of the land on here lol

Right on, thankfully I'm a omg user so that should help with making the calculations easier and keeping cost down. I've been looking into steeping for a while on different methods fridges, humidores, etc. but have just been keeping my juices in a cool area away from the sun. My biggest problem is gonna be all the different flavors and my compulsion to try them all. Lol so far I've been liking at myfreedomsmokes to get started on supplies with there kit and since I hade to separate drippers and don't need nic the kit will only cost me $19. For Flavor I've mostly been looking at myfreedomsmokes, Liquid Barn, and E Liquid Mart. I'm thinking I'll try a large order of multiple flavors at 12-15ml depending on where I shop.

As mentioned earlier spend as little as possible. A few syringes, a few emply bottles, 3 - 5 flavors in 10ml sample size and the smallest bottles (120ml is good) you can find of VG/PG to start out with. Once you decide that DIY is for you then splurge. I've seen people buy 50 flavors, 20 syringes, a gallon of both PG/VG, a liter of NIC, an ultrasonc cleaner to steep with, A gross of empty bottles all before they even made there first juice. Then a few weeks later they decide DIY is to hard and quit. WoW what a waste of 200 - 300 dollars.

I definitely will start small but I alos like to plan ahead do all the info will help later on if I am really into it. This is the first I've heard of the Ultra sonic cleaner. Would it be used to store a very large batch of juice, store bottlest, or does it literally clean the juice and then you poor it into bottles? Also Liquid Barn has an offer of 10x15ml flavors for $29. Anyone know if their flavors are of good quality?

The ultrasonic cleaner is used to speed steep juices. You put hot/warm water in it, then put the closed diy juices in it and turn it on. Only a guess, but 2 hours of cycles in the ultrasonic cleaner is about a week or ten days in the dark cabinet. I got mine at Harbor freight for $80, use it all the time. They have a smaller one for about 40 but it only does 3 minute cycles, not worth it in my opinion.

There is a keyword activated search box in the upper right above your name and avatar... type ultrasonic cleaner in it and you'll get 100 results. Most vape related terms or words will work in it.

For trying out flavoring, I like Wizard labs because they sell small vials for $1.50. Don't get large bottles until you know you actually like something.

I have a 250ml beaker that I never use. Most often, I use the 25, 50 and 100ml graduated cylinders. I'll measure nic and flavor with a syringe, and put that straight into the bottle. Then use the cylinder to measure out the VG and PG.

The problem with wizards for the new mixer is they sell mostly TFA flavor. Those flavors are so hard to get right percentage wise. Not enough and no flavor to much and instant chemical taste. They also need a very long steeping time. There not forgiving if you over or under do the percentages.

They also sell Capella and some others. And TFA still seems to have it's fans.

Consider measuring by weight instead of milliliters.
It's much less hassle, quicker and you need less tools.
Lots of people may think it's easier to start with syringes, cylinders and whatever but in reality it's much easier and cleaner to measure by weight.
Read my post or blog about it.

+1 for measuring by weight, took me about two weeks to start doing it with everything. Initially I was just doing it with my Nicotine so I didn't have to clean any sort of syringe or anything but over time I've graduated to using a scale to measure everything, a quality scale which reads to ~300g in 0.01 increments is a very valuable tool for DIY liquid.
