Ok so Ive gone crazy and bought a bunch of different flavor concentrates from a couple different vendors. I also purchased a kit and syringes, thinking it would be easiest to measure with the syringes, but they are not working for me AT ALL.

At first, I thought ok VG is thicker use the big needles with the huge end for VG but it wont work. It may bubble a little but I cant get either PG or VG to go into the dang syringe. Is there a trick to using syringes to measure?

So Im using pipettes for now, which I find not as precise as I would like.

Ive also purchased some ethyl malto crystals. Is it best to premix them into PGA and then add it to my mixes or do you find placing it in crystal form into your mixes is best?

Flavors!

I bought some PA Bavarian Creme, because I know it can be added to other mixes to smooth it out or ad a little nuance to it.

What are some other "nuance" flavors, that are used as a background flavor?

FlavorArts QHit

I purchased some of FlavorArts Qhit because I found I really like the vapor of a 50/50 Pg/Vg mix but I would like more TH.

Has anyone found a good way to use this product? I have been unable to really produce TH with it.

Thats all for now. Thank you in advance. Im sure I will be picking at your collective brains again soon in the near future.

I use
31191710968_450x450_a.jpg
for VG. Put one end of the stopper into the VG bottle and the syringe in the other end of the stopper. Easy.

Your comment about using the "big end" confuses me. The only big end of a needle goes over the luer lock of the syringe.

I buy my EM premixed at 10% because it is not a huge savings to do it myself, so I cannot give you the best way, nor what would happen if you were to use the solid in your mix.

So, what have you mixed so far?

Sweet Cream, Vanilla, Caramel and Dulce Le Leche flavors are great nuance flavors. EM can be mixed with PG and it is not recommended to use the crystals in their solid form. I used to measure out my VG with a 5ml syringe and a 14g needle. You need a big bore for the thicker liquid and it still takes some patience. You can also measure it out in a graduated cyclinder, which is what I've started doing and it's a hell of a lot easier.

I make a 78pg/22vg base liquid at 12mg/ml using a graduated cylinder. I make a 250ml batch of this and use this as my base to mix juices. Once flavors are added I am about 80/20. To draw off this bottle I use a 3ml pipette for small batches and a pipette pump that holds 15mls for larger batches. This way I am only playing w/100mg/ml to make the base batch and it gets stored until I need to make another 250mls. MOH has provided some nuance flavors and I would add Brown Sugar and Marshmallow to the list. Both good flavors when mixed in a combination recipe but weak on their own. By premixed sweetner. One stop DIY has two: Sweetner which is sucralose and cotton candy which is about 10% EM in PG solution. I find the Sucralose works well with bakery and sweets type flavors and the EM is nice for tobacco based sauces. Hope this helps

Here's a great thread on EM and TA.

For the syringes and VG... I think you have the solution backwards. To use a syringe with VG, you need a larger gauge needle. The syringe part doesn't matter as much as the opening. The smaller the number, the bigger the hole. For VG, the recommended size is 18 or lower (16, etc). You CAN use a higher gauge needle, but it takes a lot longer. Basically, you need to slowly draw up on the plunger, then wait for the liquid to catch up. It forms a vacumm, which draws up the VG into the syringe.
There are several sizes here: DrFosters.

Ill be more patient and give it another try with my next mixing session. Thanks for the threads. Great info there.

warming VG is the only way to go in my world :) when I am getting ready to mix up something I put my VG bottle in a bag, set it in a bowl of hot water and get everything else out.. 4 or 5 minutes its much easier to work with!
Do you have a 14g needle? that should work great with it warmed up.

Happy Mixing!
