Hey there folks, I'm a newbie to the world of DIY. So new, in fact, that I haven't really even started yet! I always wondered if I'd venture into DIY -- I'd weigh the convenience factor vs. cost-savings.. But now that I've matured as a vaper (I do it now because I like it, not because I need it. I can skip an after-meal vape), I see the value in this for me, now.

I ordered 250ml of 60mg nic from RTS, as well as standard PG/VG. $30 seemed like a good price for the nic. Probably could have tried a bigger bottle for better savings, but to me that's already a ton of juice (I vape @ 12mg). The stuff I ordered Saturday already sent a shipping notification out!

I went with a ton of flavors from TPA - 25 4ml bottles, menthol crystals, and larger bottles of spearmint, wintergreen and tobacco pg blend.

I am not sure what I am trying to replace... My OMG-FAVORITE vapes 6 months ago aren't now, and the ones I have now I vape and rarely reorder. I'd love to try to emulate some of KBV's juices, but I've no idea where to even start there!

If I could get a few good base juices (menthol, minty, fruity, savory), I'd spend way less finding juices I don't really like.

My plan is to pick out some juices that I'm interested in and make small (3ml ish?) bottles to taste them before I go mad scientist! Though I'm not sure how long I can hold off on that! ;)

I love Capella. Several of the Capella recipes here taste like my KBV faves. It's forgiving for us noobs and single-flavor mixes have better flavor than most of the juices I've purchased. I goofed mixing several weird flavors together and am slowly learning which flavors play well together. At the main page of the DIY recipe section choose search this thread. Enter Capella for some yummy recipes. Before I throw away a batch I try one drop per 5ml of Vape Wizard and steep for another day. Good luck.

Well, my DIY supplies have finally all arrived! Thankfully I have bottles and syringes and all that fun stuff on hand.
I was getting kind of anxious about doing this for the first time. I must say -- this was loads easier than I expected.. And I even started out with really small measurements.

I used the ejuice_calculatorv13 (man I love that thing) to make 3ml of TPA's Juicy Fruit at 12mg 70/30 PG/VG. Simple, single flavor, 4-ingredient mixture. And it fits in with my latest vape craze -- light and slightly sweet flavors. I ditched drops for my syringe. I love that TPA sent me a lot of them, but I don't really feel like measuring out all my liquids on the dropper!

Noob mistake: Not pulling air through the syringe to accurately measure tenths of a ml. Thankfully I only did this with the PG and flavoring (which I started low, at 10%), and didn't overdo the nic. I realized what I was doing in the process.

So I ended up with what's looking like maybe closer to 5ml? No big deal.

So with juices in the mail, I used to agonize over steeping times... I guess that was noobish of me. But once I mixed this up - and I shook my little heart out - I vaped immediately.

And I liked it!!

Spot-on bubblegum flavor, a good consistency, and it was easy, quick, and kinda fun!

I could get into this! Good thing I loaded up on flavors!

i find DIY to be both extremely fun/rewarding and incredibly frustrating. i mix far more juices that i don't like to juices that i do like. however, when you come up with something that you like it is awesome. very inexpensive, and easy to replicate. i have been spending way too much money trying out flavor vendors, but i am almost done...my FF flavors will be here tomorrow and i have high hopes.

the only juice i still buy pre made is NLV's Bounty Hunter. it is so good and so reasonably priced, i am happy to support NLV AND get my favorite juice!

bottom line, DIY is awesome. i am still amazed that i can't get my vaping friends to get into it, especially because they like so many of the mixes i have made them.

I never pull up flavoring into any of my syringes. Flavoring soaks into plastic and rubber if you don't rinse quick, and is extremely difficult to remove completely. I just count drops when it comes to flavor, either using plastic dropper bottles the flavor came in, or glass droppers that I can wash super easy.

I keep a big measuring cup full of hot water on my table when I'm doing the mad scientist thing and rinse the syringe immediately after it touches any flavoring - so far it's worked well. It's also handy for holding stuff that needs to be washed.

Thanks for the tips on the flavoring -- I didn't really even think about it. I was more concerned about dedicating a syringe for the nic, because of safety reasons. I didn't even think about flavor transfer.

I guess I could measure out the flavoring on the droppers that TPA sent. Wouldn't kill me.

Vaped my DIY juicy fruit all day and it was great. I had been having problems with my favorite vendor's juices making me cough. That has been cured with my own juice! Woohoo!
