New to E-Cig

Sup.

Let's get down to the brass tax.

I am a smoker. I usually smoke anywhere from 1-2 packs a day. When I drink ( Which is daily ) it's one cig after anther.

I've heard/seen these e-cigs before and it was always like : "Oh look, Oprah did a shoot in Playboy."

It wasn't until someone at work, who surprisingly, introduced me to a whole new world of hobbyism.

It's cool.

Here's where I am coming from.

- I don't care about my health.
- I LOVE to smoke.
- Quitting is for losers.

I've heard that it's cheaper to go the e-way.

I've read the beginner's guide and blah blah blah.

I drop about $9 a day on smoking cigs. Dude was telling me I can go the e-way for about $50 per month.

This guy has talked to me for hours on end about this stuff and what I really want to know is this:

Can I replace this Marlboro Gold Menthol 100 with an electronic smoke, get my fix, and save myself a considerable amount of money?

And yeah, in case you were wondering, I AM NOT WEARING ANY CLOTHES!!!

Peace out,

Got nothing but love...

Welcome.
At first you may spend about $50 to $100 if you don't get the best stuff, I got a good one for about $20 for a passthrough (you can plug it into your computer and use it, or unplug and use it). You'll have to get cartomizers to go with it, about $2.00 ea. and they last about a week or more, I've used one for a month. You can get the juice to go in it for $1.40 and up for 4ml, I go through about 3ml a day, but I mix my own, which is even cheaper, around $2 for 30ml. There are many juices out there that are tobacco flavored, but hardly any that taste like a real cigarette, but many are close. If you want one that looks like an analog you can get that, they come in kits with all the goodies, but are a bit more and don't have as long a battery life as the bigger ones. If you find you like it, there are even bigger ones, and mods you can get, or if you are good at making stuff, you can build your own, plenty of help in here on that. I hope this helps a little, and there is a lot more information here, but I hope I was able to help a little. Good luck.

oh, and you can get juices in different nicotine levels, most people start at 24mg, which heavy smokers are usually good with.

Yes you can replace your Marlboro Gold Menthol 100 but don't expect any ejuice to fully taste like a cigarette. No Ejuice will, you're not burning tobacco, your vaporizing juice. That being said there are some very good tobacco flavors out there that replicate a good smoke. It's all preference though so finding it can take some time trying different ones.

Forget about saving money until you find what works for you, after that saving money is easy but the initial start up with good equipment and everything you'll need to get you going with the best shot of succeeding and finding the right juice can set you back for a while.

I've been at it for over a year and the first few months trying different things and thinking I had to have everything I saw that was the latest and greatest I was spending much more than I did on cigs. Since then it's consistently turned the other direction with research. Knowing what I like and what works for me now I'm saving money like crazy.

As others have said the start-up/experimentation costs can be higher than a 2 pack a day habit so do not plan on saving money for the first month. Once you find a system that works for you then the costs come down considerably. In almost all cases less than what a pack a day habit costs. Heavy smokers need to start with pretty high test juice, 24mg. Throat Hit is important for that cigarette feeling so only look at high PG juices.

Good luck!

Yes, it's cheaper. Yes, it works. You're a fairly heavy smoker, so get a heavy-duty ecig to start with and save yourself a lot of hassle. Start at 24mg nic level but buy 18mg in case it's too strong. I started at 36mg and stayed there for months; that's what it took to keep me off tobacco. Now I vape 24mg and I'm thinking of finally trying to lower it to 18mg but I'm not in a hurry because like you, I loved to smoke. I love to vape now.

I would recommend something in 3.7v or higher. There are lots of ecigs to choose from: Riva, E-Power, Silver Bullet, Provari, Reo Grands, box mods, tube mods, etc. Do your homework and find the one that you think will work best for you. Many will recommend the EGo but it has a lower voltage (3.4?) and I don't think it hits the spot quite as well as 3.7v or higher.

Don't hesitate to try non-tobacco flavors. Coffee is a good one. You'll be surprised at what flavors become your favorites in the end. Once you zero in on your "sweet spot" you can DIY and save huge amounts of money - but even buying pre-made juice costs far less than tobacco cigarettes.

Most importantly, enjoy the journey.

You're spending just a bit less per day than I was when I started vaping. Saving money
is easy, keep track of what you're spending on e-cigs and limit yourself to spending only
half of what you spent on smokes.....:)

It's actually enough cash to get a quality rig and experiment with flavors, and try new
attys or cartos. Ramp up slowly and find what you like, tough to predict exactly what
fits, vaping has so many options.

Once you find what you like, have a bit of a supply, it's almost difficult to spend as much
as you are spending on smokes. (unless you start trying "one of each" mods :))

Welcome aboard Haz2! (sorry, I couldn't resist!) I'm new here too, and new to e-cigs. Like you, one of the major considerations drawing me to them is cost. I don't know how much cigarettes run where you live but here in South Carolina my cheapo brand (Pall Malls) are a little less than $35 a carton, and I was smoking about a carton a week/pack & a half a day. After initially being ripped off by "special deals" before I found this forum, I decided to buy an E-Power 14650 because that seemed to be the biggest bang-for-the-buck out there. I got the kit from Sweet-Vapes around the 1st of this month for about $42.00, and bought a few of their juices as well, bringing that total to around $73. Now I know that probably wouldn't be the best deal for everyone - that E-Power is about the size of a medium-sized cigar and some folks wouldn't like that. Also I know some folks wouldn't want to deal with the juices, though that is optional with this e-cig. But personally I could hardly be more pleased. I should note that since then I've bought a few spare parts & a few more juices from 2 other vendors bringing this month's total (so far) to almost $125, including shipping. I must also note I've not entirely quit the analogs, but now a pack lasts me about 3 days.

I'm posting this info to illustrate a point: it's all about priorities as to cost. I didn't really *need* to spend that last $50, as I had enough juice and the stuff in the kit to get me through the month, but I was excited enough about it to want to try new juices and I wanted a couple spare batteries, spare charger & a spare switch "just in case"... so I bought them. Also I must confess, I'm a bit of a gadget freak; if something breaks I'll probably take it apart & try to fix it, and if it doesn't break I'm liable to take it apart to see how it's made. Anyway this endeavor is getting more & more fun as it goes and if it sounds like fun to you, I hope you'll give it a shot. Happy vaping!

If you want brass tacks, fine.

From what I read in the post, you don't want quit smoking, other than finically. Vaping is not a 1-1 trade off.. There are trade off's that need to be backed by some degree of determination.

As a 25 year smoker, 8 days into this, I'm pretty comfortable saying you need to want to quit, else your going to buy a bunch of stuff that will go unused.
