Are e-cigs going to be effective for me?

sadie, i think the general jist of your inquiry is whether or not you will be satisfied by a pv when you use it to reduce your desire for analogs. That is a question that could be answered a little different by every user on this forum, so i will just tell you a little about my experiences.

I am 58 year old female who had smoked for over 35 years. A lot !

Being tied to a computer in my home office day in and day out, i was smoking a lot more than usual, prices were rising and my husband and i were going through 3-4 cartons per week.

About 1.5 years ago, i heard about pv's, mostly through an internet ad about gamucci, which as it turned out was not a good deal, but it got me reseaching and i found some mini's for sale on ebay. They were ok i thought, but carts were insufficient and tasta and battery liife was horrible. After even more reseach i found this forum.

At first, like so many, i thought i wanted something that looked and tasted like my analogs.

After many false starts, and much experimenting, i have found what seems to satisfy me. My 510's, kr808-1's, and a few mods i have collected seem to do the trick, but if i was limited to only one or two, it would be the 510 and the kr808....

Yes, there is what some think of as hassle, the batts, the juice, the refilling, all the little things we learn about on our journey.

But i can honestly say that other than my husband and my daughter, vaping is the best decision i ever made in my life.

I cannot tolerate the taste of an analog now, however, i can be in the room or vehicle with my husband smoking and it does not offend me or make me crave. That was one of my big excuses for not quitting, not wanting to become one of those exsmokers... The ones that make any smoker around them miserable. Yet, i am free of the chains that bound me for so many years.

Try a good reliable model, some good juice (maybe a sampler pace to see what you like, as you will probably be surprised). It's well worth the investment. And those who find it's not to their liking are usually able to dispense of their equipment easily through the classifieds here, so there is little is any monetary risk.

No one can guarantee that you will be satisfied, but i can guarantee that if you don't try, you will always wonder....

Good luck to you, and welcome to the forum, lot's of great info here and countless helpful people.

We all have to be honest, smoking looks pretty silly also!!! I was a full on smoker for over 20 years and many people look down on smokers. Right or wrong that's just the way it is and always will be.

One other thing, is that if you later decide you want to use your PV in public, one that looks like a cig is going to get you just as ostracized as a cigarette. I have found that there are ecigs that are very cute, even though they don't look like a cig exactly. My Vapor King looks like a really long pink cig and I have gold blank carts!

HELLA CUTE!!!! Can you get a cig with option like that? Plus you can decorate certain ones and put crystals on the bottom where the indicator light is, paint them all kinds of things. So even though it doesn't look like a cig, it looks cool and won't get you kicked out of places.

I started using a PV the same reason you want to Sadie - I wanted to cut out all the cigs I was smoking out of habit and just smoke the ones i really enjoyed (the morning one, the after dinner one, the last one before bed one). That was my intention, pure n simple. I wanted something to SUPPLEMENT not replace smoking but in a healthier way.
I'd been smoking for about 20 years or so, and frankly it became annoying that I felt tied to them - it felt like the cigs were in charge and not ME. I also hated the stench on my clothes and in my hair, the ashtrays were jsut ugh, and so on and so forth. I still liked the taste of the 'special' ones, but the rest just made it feel like something died in my mouth.
As you can see from my signature ticker - things didn't exactly turn out as planned, lol.
I found the PV to mimic the smoking 'action' almost perfectly - and the tastes of the liquids was just BETTER. After 10 days on the PV I just stopped wanting a cig.
As for vaping outside - the 510 (the one I use) resembles a pen, it fits almost totally within my cupped hand so no-one can really see WHAT I've got in my mouth half the time; as for it not looking cool - well hell who ever smokes because it looks cool? Even when i started smoking cigs I never did it for looks, it never looks cool to have a burning piece of rolled up paper in your mouth. At least something that looks like a pen isn't on fire. Btw I don't think PVs look cool either, just safer.
But - don't you think its way more cool to be able to run without puffing like a 60 year old with emphysema when you're in your 20s?
