New to e-cigarette...

I am 45 years of age, I have been smoking since I was 14 and have only given up once about 12 years ago for about 4 months. I am now trying out the e-cigarette, it's my first day. I am concerned about the weight gain, has many people gained much weight giving up 'real' cigaretttes and going on to the e-cigarettes? I'm sorry if this question has been asked a million times in this forum, but I couldn't be bothered scrolling through the 1 million threads...yes, I'm lazy. I look forward to any replies I may get.

Thank you for such prompt replies. I also remember when I did give up smoking all those years ago that I was not regular when it came to the toilet...I know, pretty disgusting topic to bring up, but it was actually quite painful...had a lot of problems there. Has everyone been 'regular' since starting e-cigarettes...I just don't want to go through all that again....

Hello msue, I am 39 and I started smoking when I was 12. yikes it hurts to write that, lol I oficially quit in november of 2012 and as it has only been a few months now, I have not noticed any difference in weight, or appetite, I have however noticed my food tastes much better, and smells terrific now. I can also breath!@ which is a big plus for me. I think you will soon realise this is the first day of the rest of your life! Happy vapeing

No weight gain here. I think people who tried other methods of quitting cigarettes ate more to satisfy oral cravings they missed from the analogs.

With e-cigs, you still are performing the hand-to-mouth ritual of cigarettes that is ingrained in our brains.

Nicotine cravings that come with quitting can be suppressed by increasing the frequency of vaping. That didn't work with the nicotine gum; more gum caused unpleasant side effects (hiccups and upset stomach for me). And rubbing the nicotine patch doesn't release the nicotine any faster than it was designed to.

You don't have to quit cigarettes cold turkey when you start vaping, although many people are successful with that method. I allowed myself half a cigarette when more frequent vaping didn't stop a craving at the beginning. Next bad craving got the second half of the old cig. Repeat and rinse. Before long, those cigs start tasting real nasty and I found that I didn't want them any longer.
