I am fairly new to the world of e cigarettes...I was going to buy the V2 Pro Series 3 because it was an all in one, but then I read the reviews and was put off as the are some build quality issues...
So I did some research and bought separate machine for dry herbs...I found it a lot easier to do the research for portable vapes but feel really confused with the options for e cigarettes..

So I have she questions.

1. What are coils and do you have to replace them often?

2. I heard some of the cartridges are swappable, how will I know if mine is swappable?

3. Do cartridges fail and how often do you have to replace them?

4. There seem like a lit of e-cigarette vendors and models...looking to not spend more than $100/£60. Can anybody recommend good (reliable) starter kits for newbie like me...

Thanks for taking the time to read, appreciate any replies!

1. They heat up and vaporize juice thats in the wick in or around the coils. On a rebuildable, these are seldomly replaced. On a clearomizer that takes coil packs that need to be purchased separately, these go bad all the time.

2. Some tanks by Kanger, Joyetech, Aspire will have replacebale coil packs you can buy. Rebuildables are much better.

3. They fail all the time... either you'll get it too gunked up with flavored juice or the wick will burn or the coil will go out. It depends on your juice and the wattages you are using. With a rebuildable you can just pull the wick, burn the gunk of the coils, and rewick. Its like brand new again.

4. For that price, I would get an RDA and a cheap mod that does 50 watts like an iStick. And some other required stuff like ohm meter, kanthal, cotton... you might go a little over budget. But thats just my preference... someone else will tell you to get a sub-ohm tank with replaceable coil packs.... which is probably the second best thing if you don't want to learn rebuilding.

Hello and welcome to the forum @. Glad to have you here!:)

1. Power Source -- Battery or Mod/APV. APV = Advanced Personal Vaporizer
2. Juice Delivery Devise -- often a clearomizer (a tank that uses premade coils).
3. Heating element. Often called a coil. Needs to be replaced when flavors become muted or vapor production falls off. May last 1-3 weeks depending on how much you vape.
4. Eliquid. Often called juice.

If you are interested in learning more about e-cigarettes (and all the parts and pieces) below are some blog posts by ECF member @Baditude that I highly recommend for someone new to vaping.
