new to e-cigs, mine's not working, help!

hey yall.

i just bought my first e-cig (ego-T) a week and a half ago and so far i've loved it, but yesterday it started acting funny. forgive me if i don't know the proper e-cig term to use while describing my problem, i'm new to this.

i charged the crap out of my battery so i don't think that's the issue. when if first turn it on i'll get one or two good hits off of it but then they get really weak with very little vapor. also i can't really taste it but maybe i've just gotten used to the flavor.

what can i do to fix it. i've tried looking it up online but i don't really know what i'm looking for. any links, how-to videos, or maybe a suggestion as to which forum on ECF i should post my problem in? and remember, i'm new to all this fancy e-cig stuff so please, talk slow and don't use big words :)

thanks guys!

what method are you using? drip, cartos, tanks?

as far as flavor it can be hit or miss at first, as your taste buds are in a healing phase from all the damage smoking has caused. it took me a couple of months to get taste back to normal. also when using the same flavor for a while some vapers notice they loose some of the taste and that can be fixed by changing flavors for a short while(this happens to me all the time)

lastly drink lots of water as vaping can and will dehydrate you and that can have a affect on vapor output as well.

You know what, this is actually pretty crazy. My partner at work just got a ego t and the battery lasted a week. He brought it into my office yesterday and my immediate thought was that the atty or tankomizer was dead. I threw on four brand new cartos to see if it was the atty and still no power being pushed from the battery. Its so weird. I think this is one of those things where you may have to warranty the battery if you find that the battery is no good. Here are the steps:
First take the atty off of the battery and look inside the top of the battery where the threads are, make sure there is no juice built up in there. If there is, take a napkin or papertowel and twist it to a point. Use the towel to clean the contact on the battery post. Screw the atty back on and see if it works. If not, proceed with your process of elimination.
Second, try using a different battery for that same atomizer. If it works, then that other battery is failing. Take it back and see if its covered under warranty. If you still dont get any vape or weak vape on a battery that works, I am positive its the atty. Going forward, if you dont have a extra battery, you can always pick up a multimeter from wally world or target for around ten bucks. If working correctly, you should read 3.7 volts on a freshly charged battery. Sorry to hear about this friend. Hopefully it will work out. Please feel free to pm me if you need any further assistance.

As a previous owner of an Ego-T I know how frustrating that is. I agree with Jake above; sometimes it's just a matter of having juice on your post and not allowing a proper connection. However, my Ego-T atty's went bad really fast on me and is one of the reasons I purchased a Vivi Nova tank.

As stated above, try cleaning off your battery post with a paper towel. I would also suggest with a paper towel again, to place it on the battery side of your atty (the part you are screwing into your Ego battery, not the tank spot) take off your tank and blow pretty hard into the atty (you should only have the atty in your hand, the battery should not be connected). You should see quite a bit of stuff come out and onto your paper towel. Once you've done this and got nearly all of the juice (should have been pretty dark) out of the attomizer plug your tank back in for about 3-5 minutes. Repeat the process above one more time and this time your liquid should be much lighter in color.

My next recommendation is to give up on the Ego tank quite honestly and go for something like the Vivi Nova. If you order a sleeve for your battery the tank and battery will look pretty good together (check out Grimm Green's video of the Ego Twist to see what it looks like with a Vivi Nova, Ego battery and sleeve) My Ego-T attys from Joye didn't last very long before they stopped performing and would constantly leak and thats why I went with the Vivi Nova tank.

The problem with these tanks seem to be the wicking more than anything else and as you've seen from the construction they are not the easiest things to attempt to disassemble. The eGo batteries are good though and work well with other carts/tanks/atty's so hopefully your batteries are good so you can use them on something different..

i've read about trying to blow into the atomizer, i just didn't know if this was something i should do to try to fix this. let's make sure i understand what to do: remove the battery, remove the tank (where the juice goes, right? does that just screw off?), at that point the metallic-looking piece inside of the tank would be exposed.... am i following you right?

sorry if i seem confused. you did a great job explaining what to do, i'm just more of a visual learner.

Sorry for the late response,

I actually had this typed out once before but hit the wrong button :(

Yes you would remove the push in tank from one end and unscrew the atomizer from the battery end. You would blow into the system from the tank end (where the wick is) and out to the battery end. When your atty gets flooded you don't have enough power in the eGo battery to burn it off properly and it just gets gunked up. If you heard a lot of gargling and felt the gargling when you were taking a drag this is what happened. A really good cleaning would help but this method should give you an idea if indeed the atty is clogged as doing this should free it up a little.

I would personally recommend that the next time you are going to purchase a new eGo tank atomizer for this that you don't and instead purchase something else that is compatible with your battery (most tanks, cartomizers and atty's are). Again I would personally recommend the Vivi Nova because it can be a very frugal device to own. Cleaning the atty's is much easier, replacing them is only about $3.00 each or you could rebuild the atomizer with wick and wire for about $0.57 if you want a DIY option. Yet their are a lot of nice cartomizers out there that will perform great too, some of them require very specific filling and some need cutting but a lot of vapors really like them. I still would recommend the Vivi Nova to you though first and that is only because it is my opinion.

Would agree with the posts here. My first thought is that you have a flooding issue.

Once you determine the battery isn't bad and on your next order I would recommend a Carto/Clearo/Tank.
Like the others, agree the Vivi Nova is good. Also had good luck with the Kanger T2 and the Vison CE4. Think the T2 is probably the cheaper of the group. Most newer versions have replaceable heads so don't forget to get a pack of those two. Think the regualr Vivi is too big to carry around in public but they have a new mini verison I haven't tried yet.

Also, your taste will dimish a little after the first few hits. You just get accustomed to the flavor. Vapor prodution should stay the same unless you are flooding it or it is not getting enough juice to the atomizer between hits. If you are hitting it hard, it is probably flooding some. If you are chain vaping with light draws it is possible not enough juice is geting to the atomizer in time to vaporize properly. I think most common is flooding but I am still kind of new too.
Congratulations on making the switch and enjoy the journey. It is part of the fun.

guess i should have included this in my original post.............troubleshoot simple things first, including yourself,i have found that many issues i have had with my gear is not the gear, but me. my biggest prob is ...i don't clean my gear as often as i should. when i get into vaping issues, most times i find a little juice at my batt. connection. clean it, and it goes back to normal. keep it simple.

so here's what i did.... i waited until i had used up all the juice in my tank (my boyfriend gave me a back-up Blu e-cig to smoke because i was frustrated by the unsatisfying hits on my ego-T and was tempted to go around the corner and buy a pack of Reds). when i unscrewed the battery there was a little juice on it so i cleaned that off. then i blew into the atty like you guys said to, over and over until i think it was cleaned out. i blew out a lot of juice and by the time i stopped almost no juice was coming out. then i filled up my tank about half way with juice (i read online that you shouldn't fill the tank up all the way - which is what i had been doing - because there isn't proper air flow to the atty.... or something like that) and screwed the battery back in. i tried it a few times and it was a little better. i took off the battery again and there was more juice on it so i cleaned it and tried attaching the battery and hitting it and, again, it was a little better. i took off the battery again and there was more juice on it so i repeated the cleaning and reattaching a few more times until when i took the battery off there wasn't any juice on it.
i'm still not getting good hits like i was when i first bought it (those were the good old days, right?) but they are better than yesterday. i'm giving my battery a full charge right now and then i'll try it again and see how it goes.

any more advice?

you could try "dry burning" it you just blow it out till your not getting any juice out of it and put it back on the battery and dont put the tank back on dont draw on it and just hit the button for like 3 seconds and let of and wait a little and do it again a few times but you have to be careful since you cant see the coil but the idea is to burn of all the stuff that builds up on the coil or another option would be to use the blu cartos on the ego until you can get something better it will be better than what the blu can do with the carts
