I've been considering getting into vaping lately. See, I started smoking (stupidly) 3 years ago at the age of 15. That habbit stuck with me until I was 16, when I traded cigarettes off for snuff. To this day I still chew around a can of copenhagen a day. While I really don't have any desire to quit nicotine all together, I DO want to stop using tobacco. The smell of cigarettes I still actually enjoy even 2 years after stopping, at first. But the smell will stick to clothes for days and I can't stand that. With snuff I've grown to love my flavor of choice (natural), but even though I find the taste good doesn't mean it's good on my mouth. The fear of cancer is what worries me, but rather the fact that chewing has caused my gums to recede, teeth to never look clean, occasionally spitting blood out after brushing my teeth, and of course the somewhat rare sores that last for a few days-weeks.

That being said, over the past 2 years I have enjoyed the occasional Analog, probably no more than 5 since I quit. I still enjoy the act of smoking more than the act of dipping. It smells more, sure, but its simpler to do and you don't run the risk of getting tobacco spit down your front on a windy day. That's why I've been looking into getting an PV. I've all the sights I've been to, this seems to be the one that has the most expertise on the things. I've got an order ready to go at the moment, but haven't actually purchased the items yet. I was hoping to run it by you folks first, hopefully get some opinions and/or advice.

The order is at vaporkings.com (let me know if this sight has a bad rep, I couldn't find many opinions on it.)

-Joye eGo kit containing:
(2) joyetech 510 matte black atomizer
(2) JoyeTech eGo cone (atomizer cover)
(2) JoyeTech eGo 650mAh rechargeable pushbutton lithium-ion batteries (over four times the capacity of a standard 510 battery!)
(5) Pre-filled sample cartridges in high strength 24mg Red & White flavor (popular USA cigarette brand flavor)
(1) 110VAC to USB wall adapter
(1) USB 420mAh output quick charger (use on your computer or with supplied wall adapter or any other USB 2.0 port or power source)
(1) Soft black carrying pouch
(1) JoyeTech eGo instruction manual
-A pack of five flat tip empty cartridges for Joye 510 or eGo e-cigarettes
-10ml bottle of nuhport flavored e liquid
-10ml bottle of D'Jarum Black flavored e liquid
-10ml bottle of tobacco flavored e liquid
-10ml bottle of mint flavored e liquid
-10ml bottle of coffe flavored e liquid

All the bottles are 24mg, which I figured would hopefully be enough since chewing tobacco has a high nic content that smoking tobacco.

My two main concerns are, first and foremost, everything here is compatible, right? I assume the stuff specifically made by eGo will be just fine with one another, if I'm wrong I'd like to know, but I'm not sure if certain types of PV are only compatible with certain types of e liquid. I've seen some talk about certain attomizers not being able to use certain kinds, so I figured here would be a good place to ask.

Second, I know that the vapor does have a smell to it (though some say they can't smell it), but that it's generally considered a pleasent smell. I've also heard that some are outright vile, and I'd like to avoid that. At the moment I'm still living at home with my parents while I work and try to find ways to pay for college, and my mother in particular is extremely anti-smoking, so I don't think me inhaling something that looks like a cigarette and leaves a smell that lasts, though likely doesn't smell simmilar to, a cigarette will sit well with her and I'd like to keep her happy considering I'm still living in her house even after she could kick me out. So, do any of the kinds of liquid I got leave a long lasting/strong odor? Which ones should I avoid because of the smell (I've heard chocolate is horrible). Also, does the smell stick to clothes and hands? That ones for myself, I don't want to walk around smelling like anything all day, even if it is coffe. Worst case scenario, would just stepping outside to take a few puffs on my PV completely avoid the smell since it's apparently not as strong of an odor.

I apologize if the New Members forum isn't for this type of thread. If it is, anyone in charge can feel free to delete, lock it, move it, or whatever is customary for this site.

EDIT: Also is there anything I should know about filling up/refilling my cartridges? Or dealing with the attomizers, I think I heard something about having to clean something out of a new attomizer before it can be or is supposed to be use.

Actually, just any beginners advice is very, very welcome.

The kit is a good one, and the vendor is too... but you can get it for $40 at Liberty Flights (make sure you click the 20% banner at the top of the page)

As for the smell, it's extremely mild if it's even noticeable at all. I can vape at the dining table across from my husband and he has no idea. On occasion someone will say, "mmm, did you have waffles for breakfast?". But it's not anything like the stench that clings to every surface when you smoke. If you vape in your room your mom might think you are sneaking snacks in there, even the tobacco flavors tend to smell more like caramel popcorn IMO.

Good luck :)

My advise to you would be to quit tobacco and nicotine all together. I'm not trying to sound like your parents but your still young and haven't been doing it all that long which means if you put your mind to it you could probably stop relatively easy. Vaping can become very expensive just like smoking and isn't a good idea to start using either. I also started smoking at a very young age and here I am 30 years later still trying to stop by doing this. All you're going to do is waste alot of money and put your health at risk by smoking, chewing, vaping, etc. I'm telling you just don't do any of it and 30 years from now you will have way more money, look alot younger and feel alot better! Good luck.

The on on Liberty Flights you're talking about is the Joye Ego 510 - Special ECF Offer, right?

Liberty Flights seems to be cheaper than Vapor Kings on just about everything. If you've used it before, could you tell me how quickly/reliably they ship their orders? I stuck to Vapor Kings real quick because their in Tulsa, OK and I'm not that for from there so I figured I'd get the order quickly from there.

@fb305: Thanks for the sentiment, and I understand where you're coming from, but I don't think I'll be quitting anytime soon.

Liberty Flights can will usually get to anyone (regardless of where in the US) in about 4 days (sometimes less). I heard that recently they shipped from Cal. to Florida in 3 days.

And yes the eGo(510) special ecf offer for $39.999somthing. (BTW: you could opt for the Riva510 lite bundle for $29.99somthing instead - they are the same thing but manufactured by different companies - just don't get the Riva ES kit, I hear it's not as good for some reason)

You already have gingivitis at least and it becomes periodontal disease at worst. Root planing/scaling, bone grafts and gum surgeries are not fun, not even the second time around. Please take care of your gums and stop chewing. I hope you get a kit soon! I see a Dentist 2x a year and a Periodontist 2x a year. Since I started vaping, my oral health has improved and my both my docs are loving it. Please take care of the bleeding now (while you're still young).

That sounds perfect, it will give me a last few days to say goodbye to my snuff, hopefully for good. The fact that the whole set up was going to cost me over $100 was one of the biggest reasons I was hesitant to buy.

A couple things, on Vapor Kings I saw a page where they said all their e liquid was PG. Liberty Flights offers both PG and VG. I know that their different, but I never understand how exactly. Is it mostly just a taste thing? Since they come in 5ml bottles I figured I'd order one of both PG and VG of the same flavors as I was gonna get from Vapor Kings. Would that be a good idea or do I not know some secret about them?

How often do batteries and attomizers give out and how long do you think 50ml of liquid and 5 sample cartridges will last me before I have to order more. Just trying to figure out if making this switch will save or cost me money in the long run. At the moment I've been spending $5.25 a day.

@thanku4vaping: Yeah, my thoughts exactly. A few days ago I got a sore on the side of my tongue bad enough that it was difficult to eat, let alone chew, not that it stopped me from trying. Sore is still there, but not as bad now. This sores was finally enough to make me stop thinking about quitting tobacco and actually taking a step towards doing something about it.

Not trying to preach to you, I just wish I would have listened to someone when I was your age. I also don't think you'll be satisfied with vaping. It is a healthier alternative to smoking and chewing but I think you should really try to quit nicotine while you're young. That being said, Liberty-Flights is a good company and the Riva kit is just as good as the Ego kit for a little less money.

I vape about 3 ml a day and up to 5 ml a day on a heavy day! An Ego battery should last you pretty much a whole day for light use! I'm getting about 8-10 hours on a riva 510 kit (Ego Clone) from Liberty Flights! PG seems to carry more flavor through and VG Carries more vapor! For stealth vaping the PG would probably work better! Occasionally someone will have an allergy to PG so if you are getting a bottle of each then you will be ready either way! Your kit will come with 2 atomizers which should be fine to get started but it's always advisable to have backups for your backups! After a few days of use and decide if you like it you may want to order a couple extra atomizers! LF ships quickly and $2.99 Shipping and handling for Priority mail! They actually charge less than they pay for shipping and it includes tracking!
Good Luck!

Yeah I know man. I'm not trying to be offensive or anything, but I hear people telling me I can quit easily since I'm young and haven't done it as long almost daily. I understand that, and I'm sure their absolutely right. But the truth is, I don't want to quit. I enjoy it, and if the day comes that I don't, then I'll do my best to stop.

Get a drip tip. If it's a delrin one you'll also be able to use it on cartomizers when you try those (not to drip through but can keep you lips cool if you have a hot cartomizer)

Don't go crazy with the Chinese PG juices. I might consider cutting it down to 3 10ml bottles plus maybe a 4th in a lower level just in case the 24mg is too high for you. You are probably not going to keep vaping 100% PG juices - they can be harsh on the tongue, throat, gums, even lungs for some. PG lets through the most harshness of nicotine and the most TH and flavor. VG dulls all of those and adds more visible vapor. A nice balance many like is 70pg/30vg. Some like 80pg/20vg for more TH. Some like 50/50 for a smoother vape. Some find they are super-sensitive or allergic to PG (or nicotine's irritation in PG) and end up using 100% VG. And a few like 100% PG.

As soon as you determine if you have the right nicotine level for you, order more juice at a US juice vendor - most offer PG/VG blends.

At least a PV is a step in the right direction. Good luck to you, I hope it at least keeps you from smoking or chewing.

PG: thinner consistency, brings out more of the flavor of the juice and highlights the peppery throat feeling of the nicotine (the cigarette feeling), doesn't produce as much vapor as VG (but enough IMO)

VG: thicker, mutes the flavor and mutes the throat hit (if you like a smoother feeling), has a slightly sweet flavor on its own, provides huge plumes of vapor.

Most vapers end up liking a mix of about 80%PG and 20%VG

Also, many vendors sell e-liquids with the same or similar names as the other vendors e-liquid. They often don't taste even remotely the same.... you just have to sample different things and try different vendors.

I used to spend about $80-$100 a month on cigarettes, I could buy a new kit and the juice to power it every month for that amount. As it is I save about $50 a month now.

Atomizers can last a few weeks or months and months. I've only had one die this year, but I know that I just got lucky. I think they are supposed to last about 2 months or so. Most vapers go through about 3ml per day so 50ml would last about 15 days or so. The cartridges that come with it are negligible - I think they each hold about .5ml, so about 1 days worth. And the batteries are generally good for about 300 charges, my eGo batteries lasted me for about 10 months.

Would it screw up an atomizer if I put say, VG in it one day then PG in the next, or does it make a difference? I had planned on using one attomizer exclusively until it gave up on me then using the other while I waited for more to come in the mail.

Thanks for the help everyone. I'm definitely going to be ordering a kit first thing in the morning, especially because it's now roughly 50 dollars less than I expected.

EDIT: One last thing, though not of any real importance. Should I expect my eGo to have some LED light light up on the end when I use it? It doesn't really make a difference to me, mostly curiosity though I suppose I'd like to have one without an LED at least for use in movies and such.

Switching around between VG and PG won't mess anything up. I'd be wary of using really strong flavors if you plan to use one atty at a time though, ones like cinnamon or strong menthol will stick in there sometimes. And god help you if you put Clove in there, you'll never get it out.

Also, you may want to order a spare atomizer (just in case) and test all of them before you store them away. The last thing you need is to be going strong for a couple of months and find that it's time to break out your only remaining atomizer only to find that it's DOA.

Since your kit comes with standard resistance atomizers, I'd get the LR atomizer as the extra. The LR ones will mimic a higher voltage e-cig even though you are using a standard voltage device. So that results in warmer vapor, stronger hits, more plumes and clouds. I think there might be a certain way you are supposed to use them for best results, when I used one I didn't really notice very much difference at first and then I decided (for some reason that I couldn't define) that I preferred the standard resistance ones better. Many, many (most?) vapers like the LR atomizers better, so it's worth checking them out.

Another thing that's worth looking into is the 510 cartomizers, they combine the atomizer and cartridge into one piece. They hold more liquid so you don't have to fill them up as often too. But they are meant to be disposable, so they don't last very long before you have to toss them and use a new one (few days to a week).

Honestly though, there are so many options with the eGo batteries that I haven't even mentioned that you might like... sometimes it's best to just start with the basics (the standard kit) and figure it out from there.

Yeah, that's what I thought too. A quick google search showed me that quite a few people have issues with LR ones not lasting as long. I think I'll play it safe this first time and just throw a regular one in for now. Next time I get some extra cash to throw around or need to order more stuff I'll like pick up a LR. Same with the cartomizer. I don't want to spend too much money this first time, it's a bit overwhelming.

So, 50ml, one kit, 5 extra cartridges, and one extra attomizer it is. Should I keep or throw away the sample cartridges after I use them?

Keep the sample ones, in fact that's all you'll need. Also your atomizers each come with an empty cart on it (no filler), keep those too and you can put the blue foam in them. The blue foam mod works better than the filler that the carts come with anyway (so you might want to replace all the filler with blue foam) it's called "marineland rite size U" and you can get it for about $5 at any pet store that sells aquarium stuff. It's not imperative, but it's an improvement and you have to replace the filler eventually anyway.

To switch flavors just rinse out the cart and the cart filler in hot water and then roll the filler around in a paper towel (try to keep it about the same shape though) then stuff it back in there and fill it up with new e-liquid.

To recap: you don't really need extra cartridges, but it doesn't hurt to have them (I never ended up needing more than what comes with the kit). You might want a drip tip though, and they are cheap ($3?).
