This is my 1st post on my way to becoming more member-ish here on ECF!

I just recently (earlier today) broke down and got a starter vape kit hoping it will help curb my smoking habit a little and am already wanting to try my hand at DIY liquid making, sure there are a lot of pre-made flavors out there that sound great, but I think I would prefer to eventually be making my own.

Hope to see you all soon in the 'real' sections of the forums

DIY is awesome
I've not looked back and love it!
Welcome aboard

Thanks for the welcome!

I agree 100%, DIY is the way to go with almost anything.... I've sort of already started, my kit had 2 e-cigs in it so my wife is using the other one, we naturally got different flavors and I've already mixed them in my e-cig ... turned out good enough that I'm sure I'll mix them again and have to get her a new bottle of her flavor soon.

Welcome! -- and this section is as real as any of the others; a lot of us who've been around for a little or a long while try to say hello to new users, and even help them out if they need to know anything. That really impressed me with this place when I first got here, how helpful just about everyone is, and how welcoming!

I've gotten thru a whole lot of different hardware issues, managed to find my "all day vape" very shortly after starting to vape, but I still find the DIY thing extremely challenging. Mainly I think it's just in knowing what flavors are the best, from which source -- kinda like trying to find that "best" flavor when you first start, but adding in the technical ability to measure and mix it so it actually ends up tasting good, and then having the patience to let it "steep" (age and mix together) for a week or two or whatever, after it's made. So far my efforts haven't been too successful, but my latest is still steeping, so who knows how it will turn out. I'm not giving up -- if at first you don't succeed, and all that. :D

Welcome!!!
Andria

welcome to the wonderful world of vape I would recommend finding what kinds of the pre made juices you enjoy first so you know which direction to set out on welcome
Vape on!!!

Thanks for the welcome.

I have lots of ideas based on my personal flavor preferences of what kinds of things to look for and try, and which ones I would want to attempt to mix together, the real research for me will be trying to determine pg or vg or 50/50mix and how to get the nicotine levels right.

My local store has a tasting bar set up so you can try all the flavors they have but there are so many more out here on the web to try too.

Thanks for the welcome Andria,

I know I'll be needing hardware advice soon since I did get one of the lower end starter kits, so it's great to have a forum full of knowledgeable people willing to help out.

As for the DIY stuff, I think the challenge of it is a major part of the draw for me, I'm sure I'll make lot of mistakes during the learning process, and like you, I won't give up till I've gotten it just the way I want it.

Thanks for the welcome Emily!

I hope this is the start of fully making the switch, I have been using mine all day and a puff here and there has quelled the desire to smoke a full cigarette, my wife plans to finish the pack she has now before she starts using hers, she's really only an after work and weekend smoker so it will probably get her off cigs faster than me.

Highly likely....I bet before you know it, those smokes will start tasting terrible and you'll only want your yummy vapor ;)
It takes some longer than others, but even one less cigarette smoked is still a win!

Hello and Welcome Toxic. You'll love DIY'ing, I do. I take it we'll be seeing you in the DIY Forum before too long :). Just remember to buy small samples at first until you can weed out the one's you really like and those that don't really tickle your fancy. "Ejuicemeup" is the calculator I use. I stick with a 50/50 mix since I have a pg allergy if I go to high with it. The calculator will become your best friend in DIY. I can't remember how many posts you'll need to post in the DIY forum but you're well on your way and there will be tons of great info there. You can read the stickies and anything that's posted there to give you an idea or you can just ask here in the New Members Forum and we'll be glad to help you. Happy Vaping!

Thanks for the welcome DetraMental,

I'll certainly have to check out that calculator, I'm sure I'll be putting it through it's paces. I've already started reading through the DIY section and have checked out some of the flavoring links to see who has what, I'm sure there's a review list somewhere that will help me decide what companies to deal with, but I haven't searched for it yet.

If I get into the DIY end of it like I think I might, I'm sure I'll be on here reading hundreds of posts every day

Oh you'll see many flavor brands recommended, The Perfumers Apprentice (TFA)the F is for Flavor as in The Flavor Apprentice (same company), Flavor West (FW), Signature, Flavor Art (FA), Inarwa, Capella, just to name a few. The good thing is there are sites where you can order all these brands from just one place and in sample sizes, I can't think of which one it is right off but someone will :).

Ecigexpress has a good selection of quite a few brands, but they don't have the Inawera Pineapple, I discovered, so I'll have to look elsewhere to find that. They also have some of the other additives, Koolada for a "cool hit" without menthol, menthol itself, sweeteners and "smooth"... it really helps to get several things you need at one place, to save on shipping. They have some of the other DIY tools too; bottles, syringes, etc -- even nicotine, though Wizard Labs really has the best prices on that.

to ecf ToxicRVA. So glad you are here. I did both for a long time and just got to the point where I preferred vaping. Made it real easy even after smoking for 40 some years. I quickly got into all the DIY stuff. Because it is fun and can save so much money. There are wonderful threads on ecf that can help you with just about anything. If I can do it..........anyone can. Good luck to you and happy vaping.
