You came back! :)

(You didn't go shopping... phew...)

I think the istick 30w with the mini nautilus tank would be as good as anything.

@Susan~S and the others will know the average prices.
I fully agree. And Susan, I was a pack-a-day smoker for over 40 years. Tried various cig-alikes and went right back to smoking. The iStick 30w or something similar coupled with the mini-Nautilus is a good combination. Now all you'll need to do is find the right nicotine strength and flavor of e-liquid.

E-liquid is such a matter of personal taste that I hesitate to recommend anything too specific, But you might want to start out with 50% PG (propylene glycol) and 50% VG (vegetable glycerin). The PG will give you a decent throat hit and the VG produces the clouds. I started with 48mg/ml nicotine strength and a tobacco flavor (Red Luck from MyFreedomSmokes, to be exact). 48mg is quite strong, but it's what I needed at the time. I'm down to 6mg now. Try different flavors at a vape shop. You might be surprised what appeals to you. And so you don't get bored, you might want to buy several flavors.

Good luck and please keep us posted. Don't hesitate to ask for information.

@gandymarsh - I've tried vapecrawler for many vaping related things, and I've been surprised at the small number of vendors it even shows in the results listings many times. Lots of the ECF sponsors don't even ever show up on it at all. Aren't vendors who pay to show up on it the only ones who do?

For example: Just did a search on it for propylene glycol in United States and got only 6 places in the results. That's not many to base a buying decision on at all.

I'm not sure but I think it uses spiders to crawl the web. I think it works best for hardware. It's not perfect but I've found good deals there.

This is definitely a good start.

I really wish I'd have skipped the cigalike phase and just went to something like this setup.

I just found it odd, that at the top of their site they say: "
All of your favorite vape vendors and lowest prices — one location". Below that it says if you'd like to see a website appear on it...please contact us, meaning Vapecrawler. That leads me to think they DO have to pay to show up. Maybe that's why only 2 ECF suppliers (MFS and VaporBeast) showed up on the PG search results. It just made me wonder why after a couple searches and their results.

I check it, but have always been "too late" and the coupons don't work or the sale item is sold out already.

I was just there and I read that too. I sent them a message asking what is required to get listed.

We are kinda hijacking this thread so I'll send a PM to you if and when I get an answer.

Thanks for the info such a great help wonder if you could advise me on what to buy to start off
If you like the look of the eLeaf iStick & Aspire Mini Nautilus here is where you can get it. My Freedom Smokes is a reputable vendor.
This is the only "coupon" I found for My Freedom Smokes: Coupons
It's for a FREE subjuice sample pack.

Going forward, if you have a local vape shop I highly recommend you go visit. Most vape shops will have flavor bars where you can taste test their flavors before you buy.

Watch the video I posted to see how to change all your settings on the iStick 30 watt.

Priming a Coil

When you are using a new coil for the first time, the cotton wicks have to be primed well with juice. If they are not primed well the cotton will burn. Once the cotton is burned the harsh/burnt taste doesn't go away.

To prime the coil, drop 5-8 drops (sometimes less/more depending on the size of the dropper) of juice right inside the coil, another drop of juice in all the holes on the side of the coil. Put the coil in the base. Fill the tank and then screw the base back onto the tank. Once you put the tank on the battery give it several unpowered primer puffs. This will make sure the wick is fully saturated.

Rule of Thumb

The rule of thumb for EVERY vape device you will ever own (when running in wattage or voltage mode). Start low power (wattage or voltage), take a draw and bump it up to repeat. If it starts to taste funny, gets too hot or tastes burnt, back it down. Different flavors will have different sweet spots so you just have to experiment.

Charging

Although most regulated mods have over-discharge protection (like the iStick 30 watt), there are some safety guidelines I like to follow:

1. Always use the charger that comes with the mod/battery.
2. Plug the usb into a wall wart. Plugging it into your computers usb port takes the battery much longer to charge and if the batteries protection fails you could risk blowing your computers motherboard.
3. Don't leave the battery charging when someone is not around to unplug it when it is done charging. I also would not charge it overnight for the same reason.

Congrats and welcome, Linda. I've tried A LOT of setups and juice over the last 6 years, and if you are like my wife and I were in the beginning, I'll assume you want something not too expensive or large, yet something of quality that will last the whole day, while giving you as close to the experience you are use to now. I recently got my wife a new device that I wish I had 6 years ago. It would have made life so much easier so to me this is a no brainer device for people trying to quit smoking, the Endura T18 by Innokin. Even though I use larger "sub ohm" devices now, I'm planning on picking one of these up for myself because I find myself using hers every time I walk past it.

As for juice, that's very subjective and you may find yourself spending a lot of money trying to find one that works for you. If you're looking for that tobacco style to start out with, I'd recommend trying out a bottle of Tribeca High VG 12mg juice by Halo at some point. If you join their mailing list, you'll get emails on monthly specials they run too, like right now you can get a bottle for 20% off.

Regardless of what you go with, good luck and stick with it!

Endura T18 by Innokin
Endura T18 Starter Kit
Charge it every night

Endura T18 replacement coils
Innokin Endura Replacement Coils (5 Pack)
Replace when taste just isn't there, maybe every 2 to 4 weeks

Tribeca 12 mg High VG 30 ml bottle
Tribeca E-liquid
Hard to say how much you'd use, but lets say two bottles a month for now.

You'll want to rinse your tank out and put in a fresh coil whenever you try a new flavor.
Check out some video reviews of the T18 and you'll see why I recommend it for someone like you. Good luck!

I will go with @Susan-S recommendations. All the others are also very good, but she's the one who drove me first in getting the specific device and ejuice which kept me going vaping away from smoking. But I started with a simple ego battery starting kit that I got from the local smoke shop, a 24mg/ml nicotine ejuice and with the will of stepping away from smoking, each time I wanted to smoke I was taking a few puffs, and that was enough to bit the craving. Honestly, I didn't like it so much at first but it kept me completely away from smoking 3 days after I started. It was with better designed devices, like the ones shown by Susan-S and others, and better ejuices that I started to enjoy vaping up to date, again away from smoking for a long while now. Stay in touch and welcome to ECF!
