Hello everyone,

I was bought an electronic cigarette a couple of months ago from a garage. It was an e-lite, I found it pretty bad to be honest. Couldn't get any vapour out of it or taste anything, just felt like I was breathing in and out, I didn't feel any effect from the nicotine. I 'smoked' a whole tab in about 3 hours, which I'm told it 20 cigs so I thought it was a bit .....

Saying that I've been doing some research online and am overwhelmed at the choice out there. Reading a few things on this forum and several reviews of other brands I am keen to try again.

I want an ecig that actually feels like I'm smoking with decent vapour, something I can get some taste out of and feel from the nicotine. The name I keep hearing is 'V2' I wanted to know if anyone here would recommend this brand?

I am a little confused with the measures of nicotine contained in each tab, what would be contained in a normal cig? What cartridge is the best 6mg, 12mg or 18mg? To get an idea I smoke 12-15 a day, rollies.

Flavours are also a bit confusing, I'm guessing 'Red' is cig flavour?

Also I have noticed other forms of ecig where by people refill capsules themselves with a liquid. Are these a better type of ecig? Would I get better results with one of these?

Any help anyone could give me would be much appreciated, its a sea of brands out there and I have no idea.

Thank You

Simon

Pretty much rule of thumb....the bigger the battery the better the vape.

Cigarette-size batteries
I could start a flame war here, because the smaller cigarette-sized batteries have their fans, too. The smaller batteries are for the most part "un-regulated", meaning that a freshly charged battery's performance (and vaper) will decline as you use it until it can no longer produce enough voltage to make vaper. The cigarette-sized batteries will only last 3 - 4 hours per charge, so if you vape throughout your day, you will need several batteries to keep up. (And then spend your evenings charging them back up again.)

Most new vapors start out with one of these setups, and they certainly can help you make the switch from smoking to vaping, but there are higher performing options available.

If you prefer your setup to be cigarette-sized, a popular and highly recommended vendor called Smokeless Image sells them, along with pre-filled cartomizers and other juice delivery devices:

Ego class batteries
There is a mid-size battery class called "eGo's", which are the size of a long cigar. These perform much better and depending upon their length (and mAh rating) can last 6 - 12 hours on a charge. These batteries also have more options of "juice toppers" or juice delivery devices than the cig-size batteries do.

Below is a pic of a couple of cig-size batteries and three eGo batteries next to a cigarette for size comparison. The second pic shows an eGo battery with a juice tank attached.

The eGo's would offer a better starter gear setup than a cigarette-sized battery if you value performance over looks. A typical such setup would look like this:

The cigalike batteries are pretty much limited to cartomizers or clearomizers (juice delivery devices). The cartomizers can be purchased with pre-filled e-liquid with a choice in nicotine strength and a limited number of flavors. But the majority of vapors end up buying blanks cartomizers or other empty juice delivery devices and filling them themselves to save money and for a much larger variety of flavors that are offered in bottle form.

The eGo's, being a larger device, can use a larger variety of juice delivery devices. These delivery devices differ in their construction, the vapor that they produce, and the amount of liquid that they can carry. Below is a picture dictionary of the more common, basic juice delivery devices available: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...k-what-primer-juice-delivery-attachments.html

APV's or mods
For the majority of vapors, an eGo setup will perform to almost everyone's expectations. However, for the ultimate in vaping, mods or APV's (advanced personal vaporizers) will come closer to providing a vaping experience to that of smoking a cigarette. They are literally battery holders that use replaceable rechargeable batteries. Some of these use batteries that can last a day or longer between charges. Some are V-V (variable voltage) and/or V-W (variable wattage) which regulate their voltage output to be constant regardless of the amount of voltage left on the battery. From a fresh battery until it needs to be replaced, the vapor will remain constant.

Some flavors will taste "better" at different voltages, so a variable voltage mod is useful to adjust the voltage depending upon the flavor being vaped. For example, a fruit flavor may taste best at 3.4 volts. Or, a coffee flavor may taste best at 4.5 volts. It's just another tweak that can increase one's enjoyment with vaping.

Of course, many of the mods available are much larger than the eGo's, so they are not as pocket-friendly. But because they are generally made from high grade aluminum or stainless steel, they are much more durable and are a better investment in the long run. The batteries a mod uses are cheaper than an eGo, and last longer, too (up to a year or more).

Mods can also carry larger capacity juice delivery devices with enough e-liquid to last 2 - 3 days before needing a refill.

"V2" is a version. Usually you will see Vamo V2. Vamo is the actual model. It's about the size of a few C batteries stacked.

As far as nicotine goes, 18mg or less would be good for a half a pack smoker.

The V2 he is referring to is a mini-stick battery.

To the OP:

Rule of Thumb: generally, the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance.

Do yourself a favor and get a good beginner model like a Kgo. Here is one reputable supplier:

From one Noob to another.. I started out with prefilled cartomizers from a crappy vendor until I found the eRoll... works great, comes with a PCC, and introduces you to the technology (tanks, attys ect) it's a good cig-a-like machine that I got with what is becoming an addiction to mount baker vapor liquids. Mt Baker Vapor - Electronic Cigarettes, USA made E Juice, and Accessories From there I went to the eCab for the bigger hits...

...then I wandered over to vapor4life because of Grim Green and the Smilomizer review (I Love these things). Now I'm using the dial-a-volt with smilomizers. Great vape... dead simple setup... a little pricey.. but frankly its a great setup.

Badtitude has said enough without saying too much. A fine job indeed. I've nothing to add to that.

You seem like a performance over looks type of person. And if that is true, skip the cig lookalike phase and just get an Ego twist or Vision Spinner. It's the same device made by two different companies. These are relatively cheap and will allow you to experiment with a variety of juice options and variable voltage.

I wouldn't get a mod out of the gate unless you have some electrical background experience. Even then, learning the ins and outs of filling, cleaning, juice selection etc are going to keep you busy for a while. Get the mid range set up and do some reading and learning. Then get a durable mod later once you are familiar with how everything works.
