is there any major differences in ratios used or is it just kind of the way it is
I've just accepted it. My bakery recipes taste great in RDAs and my Watermelon/fruits taste horrible in RDAs, but great in RTAs. I have no clue why, so I hope that someone here on ECF can offer a solution.

I like my regular everyday mix in all my gear - and I range from RDA's to carto-tanks. Yep, still use carto-tanks, lol.
Granted, I don't go super-low in my builds - like 0.6 to 0.9, but still - I think I am either lucky or just have weird taste.
The flavor is definitely more intense with my own coil, but I enjoy both.
It is a pretty heavy, creamy RY4 variant, so that's probably part of it - I just like "thick" flavor...(thus my tendency to use tiny little atty's without enough air to really go super-sub-ohm).

I'm thinking MOST people probably need a different blend for a dripper than for a tank...

PG does carry the flavor better than VG. VG is very muting to flavors which may not be as noticeable on an RDA. Would be worth a shot to increase PG and reduce VG in the mixes that you want to use in tanks. Adding more flavor could actually cancel the flavor out. Good luck!

Another thing that I do that may help is to add 5-10% distilled water ( in place of 5-10% of the PG) to your mixes. DSW lowers the boiling point of PG/VG and may help your coils/ wicks to last a bit longer as well ;)

I was thinking not enough heat might be an issue, i will try the distilled water. Thanks for the input.

In my experience you will always get a discernable variance of flavor when using the same juice in an RTA vs. RDA or vice versa. I do all of my testing on an RDA. I have the exact opposite experience though - my nautilus or kanger subtanks at 15w always are more flavorful than rocking a sub ohm RDA at 18-25w. There are too many factors here though - mouth vs. lung - heat vs. burn - draw time - taste buds - most importantly the flavor "carrier" ratios (VG/PG) the list goes on and on.

I lung hit my RDA, I mouth hit my tanks, those two factors alone are huge factor-wise in flavor perception. When I have a problem juice the first thing I do (if your looking for a fix) is to adjust your carrier ratios a drop at a time. Make sure you invest in a good calculator so you can hit your ratio for the next batch after adjustment - and keep in mind you'll be muting flavor across the board as you do this.

Also thinning a mix with a little distilled water in high VG juices to get them into those tiny holes in your RTA is not a bad way to go either. A drop or two in your tank after filling and then shaking the crap out of it will help with both atty draw and heat/coil production.

Batch testing adjustments suck for trying to nail a flavor profile across multiple devices, but you can get close.

Now that I think about it, salemgold is absolutely right. I used to use just VG and distilled water, and it tasted perfect when it was nice and heated from chain vaping. I started replacing the DSW with PG, and the flavors changed for the worse. I've also had to rewick my coils more often. I think you'll have some luck with the water because of the lowered boiling point, as salem said. It makes total sense. Heat brings out a nice flavor more than any other factor (that I've noticed). I'm going back to my previous method as soon as my current DIY liquid (with the PG) runs out. I've even added more VG to it with no noticeable improvement. Thanks salem, for explaining why I've had better luck with my VG/DSW mixes; H2O is the key! :)
